    Gumotex created the Seashine and kindly shared a test unit with me to check.
    Here's my overview of its features and my usual practical test on the water.
    I hope you'll enjoy it.
    Updates to a final retail version:
    - 1 of the 2 drain sockets at the stern removed - the rudder will use the bailing socket if needed.
    - front zip removed as not needed.
    EU pricing:
    RRP for the kayak at Gumotex's website is 2350€.
    Cockpit kits cost 520€ each.
    UK pricing:
    Gumotex Seashine - 2049£.
    Solo cockpit kit - 450£.
    Tandem cockpit kit - 460£.
    Source: Brighton Canoes, part of Canoe Shops Group UK.
    US pricing:
    Gumotex Seashine - 2680$.

    Tandem cockpit kit - 514$.
    The kayak is available.
    Let's go paddling!

    What do you think about speed tests? Are details regarding cruising, acceleration, and top clocked speeds good enough and should I show these in future overviews? 😄
    Have you noticed I had been testing the boat while sick? 🤧 Stuffed nose, light fever, and these kinds of things? 😅

    God bless Gumotex, they finally decided to upgrade the zipper 😂, too bad it's too late for our old Swing 2.
    The improved seats are a nice touch but i'm really curious about the new hull shape.
    To be honest, the Seawave too can't lie flat on the ground because the central tube of the bottom is slightly oversized, in our esperience it really helps in windy conditions.
    We were able to compare the Seawave and a classic dropstitch kayak (the copy and paste ones, they are all the same) on a windy day on the lake and the wind carried the dropstitch kayak where it wanted while the Seawave remained more manageable.
    The added 15 cm of length of the Seashine will be appreciated at sea, maybe a bit less on rivers.

      Hello there,
      A refreshed version of Swing2 is coming out this year, with Swing1 most likely to follow later. The new one will now also have watertight zips.
      When I was paddling the Seashine, I had wind of around 20kph on each of these 2 days. It handled very well and was not affected by it.
      The added length is for the rocker - it will make sea trips more comfortable, I'm almost sure of it. 😁

      It is huge indeed! 😁
      For a solo camper there is a ton of space for sure. For a tandem? Probably ok as well but I can't gauge as I don't camp. 😅

      It's coming out soon.
      There are only 2 changes in the final product: the front zip is gone and one of there will be only 1 bailing/rudder mounting hole at the stern instead of 2. Everything else stays the same. 😉

      Scripting, recording the voiceover, and editing it all took a tremendous amount of time. This was the most complex video I've made.

    Wow. Thanks for this video! I'm impressed. This has everything I ever wanted in one package. Inflatable, still comparably fast, convertable for two people, rudder kit for these long, straight stretches with wind or current from the side,... now there's one last open question: How suscebtible is it for heavy side winds? I know quite a few air boats that run into problems in windy conditions on big rivers. Any ideas?
    //edit: I just noticed the Ladoga 1 is a lot cheaper if you add everything up (rudder kit, solo kit etc). Damn. Tough choices ahead...

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  4 месяца назад +1

      On both days when I was testing it, I had wind of around 20kph. I didn't feel affected by it in any way. In terms of wind resistance, it felt the same way as my Rush1. 😁

      @WatchMysh 4 месяца назад

      @@LetsGoPaddling Sounds promising, thanks! It would be interesting though what happens between 30-40 or even 50-60. Like if you get caught by heavy winds on the carpathian danube for example. Hope you'll get the production version and some wind to go testing for us. Fingers crossed ;)

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  4 месяца назад +1

      The retail version will be nearly the same. Gone will be the front zip and one of the two bailing holes at the stern. Everything else will remain the same.
      I won't get a retail unit for testing.
      Due to its greater dimensions, it might behave different than Rush1 in very strong wind. I was caught by 50kph gusts on Loch Ore last year. I have a trip video available here 😉: ruclips.net/video/kgB_43mrySc/видео.html

      @@WatchMysh Seashine is a huge boat. It's too large for me and I normally look for kayaks that allow some performance/technical paddling. Rush1 suits me best at the moment and, at least in 2024, I have no plans to move to another boat.

    Like to see how it matches to Decathlon X500....

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  6 месяцев назад +2

      Seashine is a completely different category - it's way wider and meant for more recreational paddlers, while the x500 is a more "sporty", performance-oriented kayak.
      I personally wouldn't compare them. 😉

    • @PHILMO16
      @PHILMO16 6 месяцев назад

      The advantages of the Seashine are: you can use it in solo or duo, you can remove the deck, the nitrilon is stronger than the PVC used by Itiwit, the seats are more confortable. The avantages of the X500: it's cheaper, transportation bag is better finish especially for the K2. In term of speed a test has to be done, but it's not sure that there is a big difference of speed. The question about the Seashine is regarding the drop stitchs part as this is the first time that we have a kayak build like this. To obtain the shape of the bottom, the fabrics are put under stress, which means that the stitches are not subjected to homogeneous forces as is the case on other high pressure kayaks or on SUPs including the X500. Also it would be interesting to see how the bottom of the boat reacts to variations in pressure and temperature. Maybe it works well but only experience can tell.

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  6 месяцев назад +1

      It's the first time when Nitrilon Drop Stitch is shaped like this (the V-entry hull). But there already are kayaks made with Nitrilon Drop Stitch hulls. Thaya's floor bends upwards and forms a rocker, while both Rush models have keels built into their flat hulls.
      This prototype has now been returned to Gumotex so I won't be able to check how it's faring in the long run.
      From my own experience with Rush, I can happily report that there is absolutely nothing wrong happening with it after nearly 18 months of ownership. 😁

    Ciao Tom , spero che queste cerniere impermeabili vengano installate anche nel resto dei modelli gumotex!
    Sono partiti con lo swing e spero anche nel Framura
    Onestamente non ha senso fare un kaiak con coperta per rimanere all'asciutto per poi avere delle cerniere che fanno acqua da tutte le parti
    Ciao

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Filippo,
      I agree with you that a sit inside kayak should be watertight. Gumotex decided to finally upgrade all zips.
      Please, rest assured, the watertight zips are coming to Swing2, which should be released around the same time as Seashine (I heard spring this year). A refreshed Swing1 is now in development and this one will also have new zips. I want to replace my Swing1 when the new one comes out.
      If this is happening to these models, I can make an easy assumption that if (or rather) when there is a newer version of Framura, it will also get them. 🙂

    • @LetsGoPaddling
      @LetsGoPaddling  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey John,
      Quality and material-wise definitely yes!
      Price-wise, Seashine will for sure be much more expensive (because of the above mentioned).
      When it comes to performance, I wouldn't dare to compare them as these 2 boats are too different: from their designs, through performance, to use cases.
