Brother J was only 19 when he wrote that first X - Clan album. As a white kid in the late 80’s & early 90’s, political hiphop exposed me to a perspective that I otherwise never would have heard. Groups like Public Enemy, NWA, Ice Cube, & Paris did so much to help race relations in our country. They enabled white people to step outside of our cultural conditioning, to see the world through the eyes of different types of black Americans. Hiphop culture has done more for race relations than the civil rights movement ever did.
this is what true hip hop is about! elevatin and educatin the audience while entertaining at the same time! this song needs to be pumped thru out all hoods to help these kids see the trap of prison!
PURE HIP-HOP RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!! Beat is bangin!! Flow is in your face!!! '09 we forgot... True Hip-hop is about Struggle & survival Don't just rhyme over a beat do something with it....Uplift & Educate!!!
I'm a white male. I agree with the messages of this video, despite the fact that i will remain a subaltern to the actual experiences expressed by virtue of my race. I've studied the history of racism and slavery in the US and abroad pretty extensively. Still exists strongly, just changed in form. Much love to Christian Scott.
X Clan Will b Performin this Sat. 11/7/09 @ da KRST Unity Center n Los Angeles (79th & Western on the WestSide of the Street-Look 4 the 8ft Statues of Osiris & Isis) @ 6pm along w/: Madame Brown Black Riders Liberation Party
Just hearing this .Just like the first tracks just hearing literally. I blasted 2 the tracks in the 90's but now I hear..what wasted time. Real Tack X. Thawadah.
This is the truth, 13th amendment states that slavery was abolished in all forms EXCEPT as a punishment for crime. Problem is CRIME is defined as any activity the STATE or FEDERAL government deems as such... Think on that.
Good song, but terrible message/propaganda they're trying to spread. Go back to making afro-centric, not afro-fascist music. It's 2011; your bullshit clearly failed.
One of the most powerful hip hop songs ever, right up there with The Message.
