@ashyelbos I also grew up on X-Clan! I had just graduated from high school (1990) and was a freshman at the University of Arkansas at PIne Bluff (HBCUAPB) when I first heard them as a group. My uncle was a former Black Panther and a DJ from 1970-1987, so I knew about Afrika Bambaataa and grew up on Gil Scott Heron. X-Clan came to UAPB and educated my 18-year old naive self! Still listening to them and loving them 30 years later!
Brother J should always be mentioned when speaking on the top m.c.s of all time highly underrated x clan was always rocking in the walkman this was before cds and smart phones I was in high school at the time class of 89
They were way ahead of their time. I remember being a kid, trying to digest everything they were saying, and doing. They represented a strong movement that we lack today. Salute!!
I love Brother Jay he was the one that made me think different about Hip Hop I met him in Los Angeles at Lambert park back in the early 2000 he did Dark Son Riders with brothers from L.A. Fat Jack Zulu and Orah he is naturally a cool brother he performed at Project Blow 🌟☝🏿🤴🏾🇰🇪🇬🇳
Believe it or not X-Clan movement was so strong it somehow got intertwined party wise and motivational with the Los Angeles based Blood and Crip gang set just like George Clinton with his P-Funk movement. You guys open their eyes eternally to life situations in real time form.
