I usually love these pods, but the negative energy brought me down this week.
Felt like Janet steamrolled over Bless's opinions until he relented. It's ok to tease each other, but it seemed personal. The dynamic was off without Greg. Maybe I am just looking way too into it...
Taking off Tony Hawk 1+ 2 which added 120 fps on ps5 just because Janet is bad at the game and thinks people only like it for nostalgia reasons is just stupid in a top 50 list.

Off the top of my head, when they didn't list Ghost of Tsushima & Death Stranding (Respective Director Cuts/upgraded for PS5) I was shocked, then to hear Overcooked really made me flip. Overcooked is sooooo good
I feel like we're getting some bonus behind-the-scenes access here at the start.
Man, this confirms to me that neither of these two align with my taste at all. Sure there are games I like near the top but a lot that I never would have considered.
I appreciate Janet's fight for Metro Exodus. I have always loved the Metro series of games. But tbh I did play it on PC lol
I almost can’t get through these episodes that almost scream needing all hands on deck for as many opinions as possible. Janet plays tentpole games late just to be part of the conversation, but more often than not, she rags on them for being overhyped. She obviously has a niche opinion that would fit better as a fixture on the Gamescast for a varied conversation. On here though, these episodes particularly just don’t work if the only hosts available don’t have a closer Venn diagram on the games they’ve played. Or at the very least played the majority of PlayStation games you’d expect a PLAYSTATION podcast host to have played. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I think these are valid criticisms. I think it would help both shows if Janet appeared more often on Gamescast and either got replaced with someone with more PS experience or have a fourth host come in to PSILU. At the very least, don’t have these definitive ranking episodes without the most synonymous PS personality on the roster.
Some very entertaining and frustrating inconsistencies on this list. Throwing away some acclaimed remasters and then putting other remasters in the top 15 immediately. Janet conceding to Blessing’s experience with certain games for the sake of the runtime and then Blessing dismissing Janet‘s experience with others. The pair of them not having enough experience with supposed tent poles of the PlayStation catalogue. Barrett- I mean Roger should’ve spoke up more!

I've felt it for a while that my gaming tastes didn't align with Janet, and after this episode, I know that they very much don't. Nothing against her - she's free to like and dislike what she does - but we are not on the same page haha.

Blessing needs to watch the Digital Foundry video on Metro Exodus. It's an extremely ambitious AND well performing new-gen upgrade. I don't think there's another game on console that pushes ray tracing as far as Metro Exodus. Plus I hear it's a pretty good game on top of all the impressive tech. Also on sale for $10 right now on PS5.

I've been REALLY trying to warm up to Janet over the last year, but man... I find her so hard to stomach so much of the time. She comes off like an insufferable contrarian/hater soooo often, and I can count on her to belittle the opinions of others, and die on hills while plugging her ears to counter-points at least once in EVERY episode she's on. Really hope this changes as she gets more experience/maturity, but damn is it hard to take in the meantime.
At first I was like Try harder but then I thought about it some more and it's fine. You don't have to like me. You can stop listening to the show and say I'm what killed it for you. It's cool.
I guess driving your viewers away is one solution, but it seems like a poor choice to me.
I'm genuinely sorry that my post made you feel bad. It's in no way my intention to hurt you, or anyone else, ever. I don't dislike you as a person at all, and often agree with your opinions. That doesn't mean my criticism isn't valid. I have listened to every episode of psily, both before you were on it, and since you've been on it. If I thought you weren't capable of better, I wouldn't be commenting, or listening/watching. You show flashes of brilliance at times, and like Greg himself says, you have limitless potential. However, your frequent negativety, defensiveness, and inflexibility are serious detriments to this show a lot of the time, in my opinion.
One of the beauties of KF, to me, has always been that it serves as an escape from the shittiness, and toxicity of both the internet and the world. For the duration of an episode, it's like I'm able to tune the garbage out, and just hang out with cool people who love video games as much as I do, and love to talk about them, get hyped on them, share opinions on them, and even criticize and debate them.
I feel like I can't do that a lot of the time anymore. When you belittle, or talk over other's opinions that members of the audience agree with, you make us feel bad. Either intentionally, or not, you come off as toxic a lot of the time. I think that toxicity breeds a lot of the toxicity in the comments. You may be joking around, but it doesn't come off that way a LOT of the time. It comes off like you're trying to play an edgy caricature.
I genuinely hope that you take the feelings of a lot of long-time supporters, like myself, into consideration, whether you publicly acknowledge it, or not. I think it would make the discussions more meaningful, make the listening experience more enjoyable, stop you from being flamed in comment sections, and expand your audience exponentially.

Metro Exodus was SO slept on! All of the Metro games are so good and even I slept on them until like a year and a half ago. Highly recommend playing those games.
Metro games are really good, but Exodus was the weakest imo. The open world didn't really work that well imo. The game just loses its intensity and tension

Agreed! Exodus was my first metro game. Ended up getting plat then going back to the older ones and still getting blown away at how good they are

I think Horizon Zero Dawn should've been considered because of the 60 fps patch. It's a significantly better game on PS5 than PS4. Same could be said for several PS4 exclusives (God of War, TLOU2, Days Gone) that received update patches but don't have actual PS5 versions. Still a better experience on PS5.
I know it's most definitely still a PS4 game, but Second Son is so smooth on PS5 and the HDR looks gorgeous.

I’d love a PlayStation Kart racer. Every time I think of PlayStation All-Stars, I think about how many new IP’s have been made since that game came out. It didn’t even have Joel or Ellie from TLoU.
-Change the genre: turn Ghost of Tsushima from an open world to a semi-linear game a la Uncharted
-Re Insom Kart racer: this but also a Mario Party clone with PS Mascots
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition should not have been brushed off that easy off the list, especially since Sifu and other similar action games are on the list.
No Nioh collection or at least Nioh 2? It’s a fantastic game and we need a Nioh 3 but I’m sure it won’t happen
I'm with you on this, the Nioh 2 PS5 version is great these guys are sleeping on the game. I am really hoping for a Nioh 3 but they kind of channeled their energy into that stranger of paradise game. got my fingers crossed though
Man I listen to everything y’all do and love pretty much all the content you do but this episode was not it. Janet talking over blessing the entire episode was really hard to listen to. Maybe next time Greg is gone, we don’t rank stuff lol

Been consuming KF content for probably close to 4 years now, but took a break for the last few weeks as I’ve noticed that the content is mostly the same opinions and recycled talking points that every other gaming channel has, but with less creativity and innovation. Decided to come back and try this episode, but couldn’t even finish it. The negative energy that Janet brings to just about everything is on is too much for me. I tend to skip all of the episodes of KFGD and the Gamescast if she’s on. I also stopped watching this show (any know of plenty others that have as well) once she became a permanent fixture. And before ya’ll scream “sexist!”, (since that seems to be her response to most valid criticism) it’s not that. Some of my favorite creators in this space are women. It’s the negative energy that she brings to just about everything. Plus, the constant talking over each other is just a poor experience for the listener. There’s obviously a solid group that are still KFBF’s, and that’s awesome. Just feel like it’s not for me anymore.

The negative feedback just makes kind of funny double down more on Janet so you can expect to see even more of her in the future kind of funny has proven this over and over you give them negative constructive criticism and they will just Ram it down your throats more
metro exodus has raytracing on ps5. and that game was one of the first raytracing games that released on pc. it was a BIG deal.

Metro Exodus probably has the best Ray Tracing implementation in a next gen consola so far. It has RT Global Ilumination for god sake xD
These guys are really sleeping on Nioh 2, if you like souls games you need to play this game it's so damn good. Definitely better than a majority of the games on this list.
Excited for Janet to play Like a Dragon! I’ve bounced off of so many JRPGs, but Like a Dragon and Persona 5R were the exceptions.

Gran Turismo ☹️ FTR Vanguard and Far Cry 6 both have really good PS5 versions imo....can't remember if Greg played Far Cry on PS5 or not but it looked great.

The Guardians story is... fine. The characters on the team are great, but the plot is kind of... loose and unstructured?
Idk, it just felt like the stakes ramped up so quickly that I didn't have time to get invested in the characters who were affected by it

Trophies and the controller lights are neat. Also if chars talk through the controller (like Transistor) it could be worth double dipping imo

I honestly used to love this podcast until Janet came in. Her takes on video games are literally so bad. This is a top 50, not a “I didn’t play it” or “I’m not good enough to finish it”. Smfh. how some people end up in video game journalism is BEYOND me.
If it’s your personal list then fine. But to suggest that not only psychonauts 2 is bad but also it takes two needs to be as far down as possible is ridiculous.
I get you love TLOU2 and that’s the hallmark of games for you (I love it too) but to not be objective about video games in a top 50 is absurd.

There is no objectivity in criticism because there is no such thing as a factual OPINION. You can think my opinions are bad but I think it's ridiculous to say that I treated this like my own personal list when it was a combined effort between me and Bless. Furthermore there are several examples of games I didn't love where I still acknowledge they deserve a spot such as FF7 and Ghost. There are also several examples of me not finishing games where Bless has and taking his word for it on the quality. Also I BARELY mentioned TLOU 2 as it's not a PS5 game so idk why you are even bringing this up.
