Wonderful memories. Like so many, Capital defined the sound of my youth. That Roger Scott jingle has never left my head! Saturday mornings giggling to Captain Kremmen on Kenny's show....glad I grew up in the 70's/80's
Like many here I grew up with Capital from the 539 days. The DJs had personalities, Kenny was a star and the different styles and the variety of shows was brilliant. Gerald Harper with Sunday lunch, Kenny in the morning and the three o'clock thrill with Roger Scott. Thank you for uploading these jingles…… I have been singing along and some almost brought me to tears… x
So many fantastic memories! I was fortunate enough to meet Kenny, Michael Aspel, Roger Scott, Peter Young & lots of other jocks at Euston Tower. Thanks for posting
The soundtrack to my childhood. We made my mum drive up to Euston Tower from Reigate in Surrey to get us a blue 'CAPITAL 194' visor which she then let us put on her Renault 12 for the school run. Bless her.
I agree, It was wonderful to Peter Young, and sounding much younger back then. I do miss hearing him on Jazz FM on Saturday afternoons. He quit around a couple of years ago with health problems. I miss him.
@@thetragicyouth Oh my gosh. Peter Young gone. I can't believe it. I heard nothing about it on the news or even on Jazz FM. I will treasure my few recordings of him. So sad to hear. I still even miss Roger Scott. Thanks for letting us know. Dee.
I grew up listening to capital radio,it was capital 539,when it first started.my fave show was the Kenny Everett breakfast show and I travelled from my home in godalming,to warren street tube, euston tower was opposite. I was hoping that I could get a job at capital. I never did,but I don't know what went wrong,as capital is awful now.
They were originally owned by the Express Newspaper Group (in their heyday which you and I fondly remember). Unfortunately, they sold their interests, and the station has gone downhill in quality since. I'm not sure if it's the Bauer group who own them now. I'm certain that it's not Global (formally GWR) as their prized radio brand is Fart - sorry (that's what it sounds like to me) heart radio.
@@chrisrainbow2393, I've just finished looking up the information about the capital radio group as they're now known and you're right. Global own the brand. Just as when they were GWR, not appealing to real music lovers, but they know what it takes to appeal to a simple audience who are not bothered by genuine quality and are therefore the market leaders in the field. They've amassed a lot of radio stations in the UK. Rebranding them as either Capital or Heart (insert area or county). Ofcom has given them permission to broadcast to all their radio stations from the one studio if they want, variations are only for traffic information, some local news and advertising.
@@akikintheteeth The ‘Capital Radio’ National commercial radio is unfortunately a trade brand and in no way is it related to the original ILR Capital Radio station.

Grew up listening to capital radio , those were the days
Kenny was a genius and very much at home doing jingles, characters and voice overs. A real legend of British radio.
How many times did Kenny Everett leave / get fired from Capital Radio?

Wonderful! When I go down south to central London & look at Euston Tower, Warren Street, it brings back all this and more on 194!!!
3:52 Great jingles
Most of those jingles give me goose bumps and take me right back to my early childhood. Thank you so much for creating these.
I listened to this throughout the seventies! Thank you so much...
Vocals provided by The Swingle Singers, Blue Mink and David Dundas among others - all marshalled by the late great Kenny Everett!
So happy to hear the Peter Young clip (my all time fave DJ) ! And lovely to hear Roger Scott too

@@akikintheteeth Thanks for that and that would explain the poor format,
