David E Kelley, who was the writer for LA Law revealed that he thought that LA Law didn't seem realistic and believed that the show made talking about the law to glamourous, so he created The Practice where they did talk about the law, but it stayed away from the glitz and glamour LA Law had.

This was a brilliant show. Particulaly, the "mercy killing" episode when a gayman kills his lover who was suffering constant pain because of his AIDS diagnosis. This episode was food for thought as my roommate was diagnosed that year and I was three or four years away frommy own diagnsis. Sad as theepiside was, we kept watching week after week because we were entertained and we learned about the intracasies of the law. My roommate died i 1996, but years later I am stillalive to reach my lates 70s. Had President Reagan jumped on the crisis RIGHT AWAY in 1981, when we first found out about it, instead of ignoring it for six years. For the record, my roommate, Bob, voted twice for Reagan.

An 18-year-old kid at my work once asked me what living in the '80s was like. I didn't have an answer for him then, but now I realize I should've told him, if you want to know what Americans were talking and thinking about in the latter half of the '80s, you should watch L.A. Law.

The great news is that this entire series is now streaming on Hulu. Binge away!

Diana Muldaur and Veronica Cartwright should have been made regulars on this show.

This show is so old school that in the Season 5 "Reel Charlie" episode they call the Native American characters "Indians"
