Great video, John, thank you. Mighty Joe Young is one of my favourite films as such nice memories of watching it with my dear old grandad, who had been a cinema projectionist and remembered actually showing it back in the day! He had so many stories, wish I had written them all down! He gave me a love of King Kong, all Harryhausen’s work, but also original Flash Gordon, Will Hay, Laurel and Hardy, Tod Slaughter (‘watch it when you are older!’)… lovely memories! His favourite studio ident was 20th Century Fox- ‘I always used to turn it maximum volume!’ And he did that on the tv with the remote ever after 😂 my dad’s favourite ident was MGM… RKO remains mine, though soft spot for the Gainsborough lady and the old Universal plane and globe! Thank you for videos and books John: please keep up the good work!
Thank you for the support and for sharing those great memories. My favourite video ident was Thorn EMI. For the movies I liked the mid 80s Paramount logo.
Thorn EMI was a great one! I remember not long after my grandad died we found a VHS of his, a copy of the Elephant Man: that was Thorn EMI. He must have only watched it once or twice, it was in such crisp condition. He had never mentioned the film but I think it must have been important to him, the way he kept it. Following this unboxing video, watched Mighty Joe Young again with my wife, her first time: she loved it! So much character in his movement.
@@weshope8209 StudioCanal owns the EMI Films library and The Elephant Man had a 4k restoration. Great to watch Mighty Joe with someone new to the film.
Thank you for mention me, John. It's an honor to do Packaging Design for this one :) Really love Mighty Joe Young concept and visual from Harryhausen. Respect to Great Harryhausen legacy.
John, you and the rest of the Foundation are just spoiling us terribly with all of these great renditions of Ray's creatures! MJY, not just one of my favorite films Ray worked on, but one of my all time favorite films period!
Another excellent unboxing of the Harryhausen legacy. What a beautiful rendition, indeed! Thank you for doing these unboxing-videos, for those of us that have not the means to get these awesome creations. CHEERS!
Thank you again for another informative unboxing video. These videos are always helpful guides in the assistance of the assembly and display process, and I enjoy the historical, behind the scenes stories that you include with the narrative.
Cool opening, thank you. As a very big Harryhausen fan, I love your Harryhausen openings. It´s always very interesting to know a little bit more about the background of the film and about the creature character☺
Great discussion of the movie and appreciate the detailed review of the figure! I opted for the Monochrome deluxe. Like with the Rhedosuarus I wanted it to look like the movie. Question about the lions since they're polyresin, do the tails feel sturdy enough to support the whole body?
I think this is the most impressive Harryhausen statue so far! By the way, Terry Moore is still alive. Have you ever interviewed her about Harryhausen and Mighty Joe Young?
Beautiful model. I love the film so thank you for those terrific anecdotes. I wonder if smaller cheaper models of the Harryhausen characters could be made, If a Mighty Joe Young figure was produced he could be carrying an orphan. This is not a complaint at the price which is totally fair but I think there could be several variants of the figures on the market for different pockets.. I am sure they would all sell.
I ordered the Deluxe version from my usual place but they are listing the deluxe version as the two extra lions. No mention of a base. Did the base get added last minute?
I got this in advance as the official unboxer of the items. So check with your retailer about the base. Well worth getting. I think there is a Joe with no additional lions in the box, so you have got a deluxe one with two lions.
I liked Mighty Joe Young. Both versions. Irene Ryan "Granny" from The Beverley Hill Billies had a small cameo i think it was at the bar scene I think she was schmoozing with some handsome guy if I remember correctly. Have a blessed day everyone

You are most welcome, Christopher. It is great to have you as part of this creative partnership.
Thank you for sharing this presentation 😊
Thanks for watching Jimmy.

Thanks. It has stood the test of time well.
Another excellent addition to the collection. Superb.
Cheers.
Another excellent unboxing of the Harryhausen legacy.
What a beautiful rendition, indeed!

Thanks Øyvinn.
When I first saw this movie on TV as a little kid, I thought Joe was REAL, partially because the credits listed him as Joe playing "himself".
Another amazing sculpt to immortalize further the artistry of Ray Harryhausen. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you for watching.
Another great unboxing, John! Thank you!
Thanks David.

I really hope there are more coming. The figure head, the giant bird and the ant-aliens would be great as well 🙂
@@CozySingelLife all on my wish list too!
Great to see another of the more overlooked Ray Harryhausen creatures in model form, and thanks for the unboxing video.
Thanks for watching Ian.
Incredible piece!

Good choice. The tails are both sturdy and delicate, so you must be careful.
Love Joe, always been my favourite, unfortunately there is nowhere in Australia to buy him, we always miss out here down under.
Thanks Alan. Not sure about sales worldwide, but keep an eye out on the Star Ace Toys website.
Great video and a fantastic looking piece! As you said, definitely echos of King Kong in this
Yes Joe is like Kong 2.0
I think this is the most impressive Harryhausen statue so far! By the way, Terry Moore is still alive. Have you ever interviewed her about Harryhausen and Mighty Joe Young?
Thanks. Yes Terry would be great for the podcast.
Another masterpiece sculpt from Star Ace
Yes agree.

Yes, the price can be high for this quality of figure. The model kits are more affordable for most. I'm not sure if Joe will be in kit form yet.
Another excellent video, many thanks.
Thanks Steve
This looks amazing! 😍
Thanks
The stop motion animation of this movie is so amazing that I felt uncomfortable with the cruelty on the lions.
Yea that would not be allowed today.

Would love to see King Kong and the dinosaurs from the 1933 King Kong film get made in to model by Star Ace
I'd love to unbox those beasts.
I liked Mighty Joe Young. Both versions. Irene Ryan "Granny" from The Beverley Hill Billies had a small cameo i think it was at the bar scene
I think she was schmoozing with some handsome guy if I remember correctly. Have a blessed day everyone
The lion on his back is not removable?
That’s right the lion on Joe’s back is fixed.
🦍 👍🏻
🙊
I like king kong 1933 and mighty joe yong. I don't like willis O'brien and ray harryhausen. because I don't like stop motion.
That is well in your right...but what a utter stupid comment, honestly!
