James Gunn isn’t dumb enough to let anything happen to the Reevesverse as a whole. What we should be really be worrying about are the restrictions and what he’s telling Reeves he can and cannot do behind the scenes.

Personally, I’m fine with two Batmans. I like the Reeves Batman as their own separate universe. I’m all for another Batman. Hopefully more of an Arkham, DCAU adaptation. Gray suit with the classic Bat Symbol.

It’s funny that this exact moment happened in the DC and WB before. Before the production of the Man of Steel, WB wants to connect Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy to the DCEU as the main Batman of the universe. But Nolan and Christian Bale refused the idea because The Dark Knight Rises was a perfect closing for the trilogy. And Bale didn’t want to play as the Batman anymore, because he didn’t want people to think of him only as the Batman. And also The Dark Knight was grounded and it didn’t fit to the whimsical and magical universe of the DCEU. So they hire Nolan as the producer of the Man of Steel alongside Zack Snyder as a director instead. And now this happened again… twice 😂

Because the first person who was reported as wanting Pattinson's Batman integrated into the DCU was CEO David Zaslav. I believe he is the person behind the scenes pushing for this.

Does anyone recall the fact the The Batman (2004) cartoon was also going while Justice League Unlimited was airing? And to be fair about this whole situation, no one was ever bothered by “that,” so it seems unclear to me why that couldn’t work on the live action side (despite the fact that there are a lot of live-action Batmen).

My thinking is that the execs don't want to have two Batmen and are pressuring Gunn to put Battinson in the DCU. (Which he probably doesn't want to do) So he's holding off The Batman Part II as long as possible. He keeps saying it's because a script for the film hasn't been finished, but surely Reeves could've written a script for the sequel by now. Hell, some of the best scripts have been written in just a weekend
The problem with that is the delay on The Batman 2 appears to be delaying The Brave and the Bold.
If The Batman 2 is going to be delayed 2 years and comes out 5 years after the first movie as an elseworlds film, why wouldn’t

I’ve always felt David Zaslav would want to smash their two properties together, not necessarily James Gunn.
There’s no clash at all, it’s already been confirmed from the beginning of 2023 that Matt Reeves’s The Batman is under DC Elseworld and James Gunn already confirmed DCU will have their own version of Batman which will be completely new & more comic accurate.
Jeff Sneider confirmed that this was BS yesterday. He literally said that this isn't the issue, Reeves is going through some personal problems and couldn't finish the Batman 2 script.

I have a speculation. I think the reason Matt has delayed rhe movie is because the Failure of Joker fully a poo has spooked him and he's trying is best to prevent his movie from going to the same pitfalls of Jonlkler 2.

It probably goes deeper than that. I have a feeling Zazlav saw the failure of Joker 2 and the success of The Penguin and called up Gunn and Reeves and was like “enough of this elseworld bs, you two are merging The Batman into the DCU or you’re both fired.”

He’s definitely considered it, but he’s definitely not doing it. It could work mind you, but I think Gunn wants a more comic book version for the DCU (as do I tbh, really hoping for a DCAU/Arkham vibe for Batman and his mythos, letting them go full Batman). Like you said, he’s not a fan of the super grounded universe stuff, and Reeves’ Batman is doing completely fine in their own corner. It’s just a bunch of “scooping” due to the delay. Nothing substantive.

But I have a possible reason for the change (something missing in conversation): Pappa Zaslov putting pressure that he wants a Batman in the DCU sooner rather than later, movement on Brave and the Bold is falling behind the schedule that was given to him and he says to Gunn: “Batman is one of the big three, and is a huge draw for audiences. We need our big guns and so far you’ve only delivered on one of the big three. I want Batman and we need him quickly. In fact, Jeff said this is basically what’s happening back in September.

I think you are right James Gunn wants these winning cards in his deck. Superman will be curiosity driven and not based on substance. The Superman trailer was mediocre at best and the costumes look like the ones in Thor that they used to make fun of themselves during story time. His style will not work and Matt Reeves style absolutely work. He doesn’t want his work to give Gunn credit for. Gunn would absolutely take credit for it. This is what he does. Leave them separate. would be the Schumacher Kilmer/Clooney version

The DCU will be a universe where metahumans and aliens are already known and accepted.
Battinson's universe will be a struggle to accept metahumans existing in. It's the same problem The Dark Knight Trilogy has with broader DC mythology.
Superman cannot exist alongside Battinson, without Battinson having a lot of time developing among the superhuman.
We accept the fantastical in the MCU because they developed it in a world that could perceivably have it. We can't see that with Batman alone, especially when many "fans" want grounded, human, street level storylines for Batman. It's the same reason people don't like Spiderman not being the friendly neighborhood Spiderman.
The lack of human relatability can cause an audience to avoid watching it. People don't like Superman and Lois because it's about a Superman being Superman. It's Smallville being Smallville.
Broaden it out to a larger scale like a galaxy, universe, or Multiverse...humans get frumpy about it because they struggle to comprehend it and accept it. They think there is more depth and substance in LOCAL, HUMAN affairs..... especially if it's specific nations or groups of people.
No,the MCU didn't start off as a world which can harbor meta humans.Even Captain America,a super soldier was pretty grounded and tried to be realistic along with Iron Man

But no, both Ironman and Captain America had elements that we can accept the superhuman and supernatural way more than the Battinson's universe.
Its one of the reasons Steve is more superhuman in the MCU than he is in comics.

Batman is a DC character in a DC multiverse.
Metahumans, aliens, and gods CAN'T exist in The Dark Knight Trilogy universe...and nothing about Battinson's universe indicates metahumans existing.
But sure, a DCU Batman would have already gone through DECADES of experience to be functional for a story with metahumans.
Which is why there would be a contradiction in having Battinson's Batman for the DCU.....unless they age him up dramatically.
Also, explains why the whole Bat Family likely already exists in the DCU.
But sure, they could have isolated stories about Batman IN THE PAST, that magically ignores the DC universe it exists in.

He will be presented as superhuman in the DCU as well.

He'll be superhuman, similar to how Snyder presented him. At least Snyder understood this dynamic and didn't try to present this redundant "grounded" version of the character that we have to remove all logic to accept the sudden existence of metahumans.
The indicators of superhuman and fantastical elements for the MCU were there right from the start.
The Batman/Battinson's universe doesn't have this. It shows no indication, and provides little to nothing that such elements can be build up on.
Which is why....again ...there is a clash between Gunn's DCU and The Batman universe.
Please get us a separate arkham batman thats fights like comic style and keep reeves batman separate

They aren’t trying to make reeves the Batman the duc Batman. It wouldn’t make sense because the bat family already exist. James already said there will be a new Batman multiple times. I appreciate Matt Reeve's artistry but there is no universe where we actually try to have a DC universe, including a Justice League, and Batman isn't a part of that. 2 Bats are fine because Matt won't be putting out his (I guess elseworlds) movies more frequently than once every 5 years...and the "real" main continuity Bats will be in line 2 movies a year (I hope). Frankly...they should smash it up w/ the Joker to see what happens too. that'll never happen though. Although....using the Same Batman seems like a no-Brainer. How many more films will MR have w/ Bats? 2? C'mon they can make it work.

The Batman doesn't have to fit into the Superman franchise. Have two different Batmen. Like Spider-Man doesn't HAVE to be "spider verse" or "no way home" forever. I'd be happy with three different Spider-Man series.

I'm not that all invested in the Matt Reeves EMO/Gothic Pattinson Batman and that stupid Riddler story. I also never liked the Christian Bale version for that matter! Too many liberties with character and story, apart from a stellar Joker! Affleck was actually good - apart from Snyder's bad writing! Let it burn! I'm looking forward to a Gunn Batman. I hope it will be Alan Ritchson or some fresh face!
