Hi There, The type of coconut hut as shown in your video originates from the Ga tribe's Xmas coconut hut which I understand has disappeared from the Ghana cultural landscape. So, I'm happy to see it make a comeback in another form as an everyday living space as shown in your video. And, as an improvement, also for the longevity of the leaves, I'm thinking that a layer of clay or mud (plentiful and free in Ghana & I'm sure even to be found near the hut) can be applied once the coconut leaves have dried thoroughly (and adding a layer of clay or mud will not only protect the leaves from aging and decay but also insulate the leaves against fire). Finally, once both leaves and the outer layer of clay or mud have dried, the hut can then be painted like any other house &, unwittingly, a new form of affordable dwelling would have been created. A word of caution though: The question is whether it'll be SUSTAINABLE if many coconut huts modelled after the one this video started to be built in Ghana bearing in mind that the coconut tree which provides the leaves, an essential raw material for building the hut, has been decimated in Ghana by a disease that first started on the east coast of Ghana and then spread along the Ghana coastline killing many coconut trees in the process. Needless to say that coconut trees growing by the shoreline as was once the case in many parts of the Ghana coastline could have helped against beach erosion and also probably against rising sea levels. All in all, as coconut leaves are harvested to build huts such as the one in this video, it's also worth remembering that there's an urgent need to plant new species of the coconut tree, preferably faster-growing specimens, especially along Ghana's coastline & what is being done in the republic of Benin can serve as a model/example.
I LOVE the idea BK was talking about. You could 100% apply some lacquer or polyurethane coat a coconut hut and even apply some color to make it stay green, and people would definitely come and choose those as rentals as well.

@@XY-rh3if first of all... If you are born in Africa (being white, black, or any other color), you are African. Apparently all life originated in Africa. So you going to say your racist yet? Hold on... I have a story... I live in a 1200 population community of basically farmers. We have at least 5 white South Africans (that I know of here) that I talk to quite a bit... They all work for farmers here and send most of there money back to Africa to their families... And a south African I talked to the other day said it's $1 usd to 15 African dollars. He also told me horror stories of several white South African families being slaughtered and their farms taken over. And then mismanagement happened and the farms were ruined. Then those same black Africans preyed upon another white South African farmstead and repeated the process. So in doing that they are hurting themselves because you're taking food out your own mouth. So when you say oppression you're just talking white on black? Apparently you don't know much about the world we live in. One more thing... Did you know the first legally owned black slave in the United States was owned by a black man? 🤷🤦
If you believe all that colonial lies that everyone originated from Africa, then you're being very gullible. They also say that there's only one God and that God is the one the west spread across the world. The world is round. The world should have come to an end in the year 2000. If you could provide proof that all humans originated from Africa, so would I be able to present the phisical proof of the existence of a God. Go figure!
I admire where her mind is and what she’s trying to do. Got her own property in the motherland. 👏 As an African (who currently lives in America) from personal experience I know so well how this goes- People in Africa will be super sweet to you when you’ve got connections to overseas because they know eventually there will be some foreign currency (dollar bills in this case) coming to them if they play their part. The men will be hoping the girl can marry them and upgrade their lives with an American citizenship so obviously everyone especially city officials are nice to her because they know her nationality. Lol Jokes aside, in America she can’t get such an opportunity for so little money. Maybe in remote rural America where land is cheap but not expensive beach front property or in the suburbs. She’s smart converting a few hundreds of US Uber dollars into an African investment. Let’s be honest though, as cute as this house looks it’s not an actual livable home that someone can put furniture in and call home. The dude saying “security aspect is that it’s a safe community” is literally b.s from a common sense point of view. That explains why there was nothing in the ‘house’ as far as her personal belongings are concerned. Cool in theory but not practical in real life… the whole community knows there’s an American who bought land in town and she’ll be a local celebrity fast to both good neighbors, the curious as well as burglars which is typical worldwide. Where I come from when you purchase land you have to put up a structure on it so I believe that’s where she’s at before her actual modern buildings are up. I wish her the best in her endeavors and look forward to her future projects on her land in Africa.
I love the community vibe. This makes me so happy for her to do what she wants to do and I see more and more people wanting to leave their country and go to their homeland and I think that's awesome. People are so friendly and that's worth more than money can buy you.
African Americans are not African. We are the Hebrew Israelites from the Bible. Even in the Bible definition for ham, whom Africans come from it explains ham is one of the sons of Noah. Ham is the first of the dark peoples of the earth yet it says not the negroes. The Jewish people in Israel right now are ashkenazi which in the Bible comes from Japheth. But the chosen people of god comes from Shem. Which negroes originate. So we are not African we are Israelites from the holy Bible

Hey great Idea if I can chip in we built these kind of huts growing up in Ghana and realised to make the roof water tight cut bamboos in halves and knock the little grids to allow water to flow freely and to place half’s facing up then place the others facing down covering the gaps for water to drain into the ones facing up. Got it? ¥^wM

I love what she is doing. Living off the grid and with the environment is so peaceful. I’m from the USA and I went to Nigeria last year and got married. It was my first time going to Africa. It was so lush, beautiful and peaceful. That experience changed my life. I told my husband that eventually I want to build a house in Nigeria and leave the USA.
She has such a dope and humble spirit. I could totally live like this with a few adjustments like a real floor. I absolutely love it. Hopefully one day in the future I can visit and stay in her airbnb.
That awkward moment when you build a time machine to visit the ancestors and you show up to see BK’s grandpa beating your grandpa and putting him in chains, then selling him to the Europeans, then smiling and looking at the mirror they traded in exchange for him.
I am really encouraged and pulling for your success. I'm interested in viewing the plans and learning more about your future objectives in developing this beach area. Please do a follow-up interview on progress and investment ambitions?

But the chosen people of god comes from Shem. Which negroes originate. So we are not African we are Israelites from the holy Bible
@@akitoscreationswhat a bunch of bullS💩🙄🤔😂
Greetings from a Nigerian in Minnesota beautiful sisters. I like what you are doing. Kudos
I love her energy and this is her dream.
Im a South African Living in conjested city if Johannesburg.. I wish to move to Ghana. Seems like ppl have a lot of freedom there
Hi Amoaa...I absolutely loved the vibe of the video and I barley noticed the time pass by. It was a lot of fun to watch. So great to have you back😍
Thank you for watching, Ephraim! Glad that you did! It was a lot of fun to create this too. Great to be back 😊
Like all other species, we don't need money to live happily on this planet; the only thing we need is change of mindset.
What a brave woman! And she looks just like us! You'd never believe she isn't Ghanaian - until she speaks - but she's us niw, and she's home now! Those who "refused to die" are smiling and dancing in heaven!!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 WELL DONE sister!! (You ladies could be blood sisters- yall are BEAUTIFUL black queens!!)❤❤❤❤
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I love the sense of the quote, a neighbor is coming to the community, they just help a sister!! May God continue to bless you, people!
Got it? ¥^wM
@mrmensah5722 are you interested in starting up a group of people who want to all move back to Africa?
I personally couldn't live in a coconut hut mainly because I've never been a nature type of person but I admire this young lady and give her a lot of credit for what she's trying to do.
If you're a human, you're naturally a nature type of person lol
I need my air conditioning and plus Africa gets too hot for my liking
@@illmatic826 i just want to poop f everything else
@@illmatic826😂😂
Extremely humble person, good spirit. I personally couldn’t do it. Ghanaians are the most lovely people on this earth (to foreigners) this same treatment isn’t afford to locals unfortunately - no one is giving you free stuff. Wish her all the best, she sounds like she deserves. ❤
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
This not true. Ghanaians are even more kinder to themselves. But the culture requires people who came new to be shown more love to help them cope.
@@donamay1837 thank you for the response. That’s our families experience but ofcourse we should judge a whole nation by one’s experience. I stand corrected.
I could live in that indefinitely with tile and possibly warm water 😂 I’m in Florida. You’ve sparked my interest. If it’s affordable then this IS the game changer! I’m wondering how many Africans could benefit from these bamboo huts that live there currently. I lived in the city all my life and have come to a point where that bamboo hut of yours is gold…with upgrades 😂
Yeah... I'd would like to have tile on all the floors and maybe a 3 foot border around and above the tile to keep the elements & creatures out
I love it! The two of you have such great connection 👭🏿
This is basically how rural people live or used to live. My grandfather's hut was similar to hers. Great for her but I don't think I could do it. What an adventurous woman! I love her attitude.
this is amazing - as someone living in LA where its beyond unaffordable… this gives me hope
Yasss to hope
I'm impressed and proud of this Sister ❤
I appreciate it 🙏🏿
This is an beautiful sight to see because I truly want to build a home back in the motherland.
No born Ghanaian girl like her type will be brave to do this but i pray she don’t fall sick.
So true not only the women and men too
It’s funny how foreigners can adapt but we are not able
@@thebill8891 How is she a foreigner
@@Odemwigie. she’s our sister 😊. No a foreigner
What do you mean fall sick ?
@@ishaw9894 if she has to leave in there overnight with mosquito bites.
you have to put some respect on her name for really sacrificing her to make her goals happen
She is so funny,,,,great personality!
She looks happy...🙂🙂🙂👍👍
It's hard to believe someone sold her this beautiful ocean front property. Praying that everything works out for her.
Wow I’m super impressed by this woman!
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
So I would never do this but shout out to her. She is over there chilling.
I can't wait to do this!🙏🏽
She is a vibe. Amoaa, this is by far the most genuine content. Her energy and honesty i admire.
Thx Tim 🙏🏿
She really is, Tim!
This is so AMAZING! Congratulations🎉!!!
Wow! Leslie is very adventurous. Great video.
I am a Nigerian. It gratifies me immensely seeing Black people(especially Black Americans) returning to their Homeland-Africa inspite of centuries of forceful seperation from it. Welcome to mama Africa! Come home. Forget the negative aspect of Africa propagated by the West. Its not true.
Dope. The trailer homes are becoming popular there too on the beach. Reasonable and quick to build and you can charge $100+ a day
I don't know you but I'm proud of you!
Smart young lady who wants to build a resort. Great video!
We guarantee she'll be gone from there in a short period of time.
@@michaelpond813 why do you say that?
That rat, snake, dog is the same thing that Martin and Pam had a fight with on vacation on that one episode 😂. I’m so proud of all this she is super resourceful and intelligent
2 Beautiful Princess 👸🏽 👸🏽 Great place , great information. And how about general idea how foreigners can buy land?? Really like Leslie 👸🏽 ideas 💡
Hi Will, thanks for watching! This hut costs about $370. We will discuss land purchases with Leslie in the next video, definitely check that out. I really like them too!😊
Thank You 🤠Princess 👸🏽
MONEY
Which town in Ghana is this?
This is actually very creative
I agree I wouldn't like a coconut hut to live in until my home is built if move Africa.
This is amazing!!! 🙌🏽❤️
❤
I love her energy!!! LOL
It's so beautiful!
Careful, they killed my father there.
So bathroom, kitchen did I miss this. And I love the independence to own land in Ghana.
This is really nice I would use it as and oasis . I wouldn't want to be in a community but have it off grid . A place just for me.
always wanna move to Ghana im in Orlando bravo to you for making that transition
Lmaooooooooo wtf??? Moved to the other side of the planet to be homeless??? She coulda stayed in LA and did that 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😅funny but come on man 😅
I would do this. I would definitely need more natural light & poured concrete flooring. The gravel was a great idea for the shower.
I miss my shower honestly 😢
That is so awesome though the experience alone it's so adventurous exciting scary all of that at one time but you mentioned living indigenous that is something I have thought about doing too just living off the grid and with nature and everything but I have a future husband who I don't think he's too interested in doing so however great idea I love the way that you are thinking and believing and achieving the goals that you want for the future for yourself
Thx for your kind words Bleu.
This is so cool & affordable. They could do this in poorer countries.
And i bet she's gonna live better and happier than 99% of us Americans.
I am so happy for you Leslie, this is the way all of us should be thinking and you are very smart and resourceful. So proud and so happy for you! You will achieve all your dreams. Keep going and congratulations 🎊 🧡
I appreciate your kind words Adaaze!
This is wonderful, preventing the money from leaking out unnecessary,, it has something big to do, soon you gonna hv your own lux
No leakage! Haha
Can a coconut hut be transformed into a regular sturdy home if you decide to stay in the area instead of moving elsewhere?
Bless her heart. I wouldn’t want to squat dwn on the ground to use the toilet but bless her heart for how she’s able to see the experience as positive. In a positive light. Wow!
So happy for you. Living your dream. Wow!! Enjoy your life with all it's experiences!
what dream?
paying dues. respect. when she is thriving some will look pon she with resentment for her success unbeknownst to them the sweat equity and compromises along the way. cheering for you L!
So much local talent and craftmanship.
This is an experience I would like to have in this lifetime. Just with secure roofing, more windows, flooring and electricity. Totally doable 😍
Love seeing my sisters win!
Excellent Excellent! This is so inspiring and motivating! 👏 👏 👏
So glad you are inspired
Sister as long as it's your house, you are already in the mix.
It's all fun and games till the mosquito season!
She has such a dope and humble spirit. I could totally live like this with a few adjustments like a real floor. I absolutely love it. Hopefully one day in the future I can visit and stay in her airbnb.
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Same here! Would love to go support her, Or even donate on a Go fund me page.
That awkward moment when you build a time machine to visit the ancestors and you show up to see BK’s grandpa beating your grandpa and putting him in chains, then selling him to the Europeans, then smiling and looking at the mirror they traded in exchange for him.
It's a vibe!!! I love it where is her channel she's so humble and passionate Peace n blessings!!!!
