Knowing that the enemies that show up at extract are nearby patrols actually could add a lot to the idea of spoiling attacks. Here it might take the form of one player going and aggroing one or more patrols and leading them away from extract as it starts, maybe even provoking a bot drop, meaning those resources arent being targeted at extract, while the distracting player can loop around. Obviously situational, but there's potential

While everyone else is going mental with balance patch stuff, my comfort is in processing battle plans, fallbacks, and fallbacks to those fallbacks.

Another tip: If extraction happens to be on the way to the next objective or you're calling it in, *drop your samples at the landing pad*
If you're doing this while main objectives are still up, this ensures that your samples aren't trapped in a sea of bots that you can't fight through and if this is while extracting, it ensures that you if you die, a teammate or even you reinforcing yourself can easily pick up the samples right before getting on Pelican-1 since they're like 2 ft away.

A thing i thought ought too be mentioned is that your posisions should have the property of you being able too move too and from them without being shot or mauled too a significant degree. In short, a posision must not destroy your capasity of manuver. This can be done by having cover between posisions, or the ability too reduce enemy fire for the nececary time too change them. Smoke functions well in this regard, also eagle airstrikes and covering fire.

  • @aeyasera1
    @aeyasera1 5 месяцев назад +4

one more idea I want to add to "preparing for extraction": you can often use the resupply pod or a gear pod (or both) to build a step/stairway that can allow you to climb up onto the rocks at/around extraction, especially since a lot of them are flat on top
while you might end up getting shot by bots in some cases, it also lets you get a really good view over the battlefield and if push comes to shove, you can try to prone on top of the rocks to avoid fire and wait for the extraction ship from there

Can't wait for your Guerrilla Tactics video. Those are my favorite to employ on the Automaton front. I often find myself drawing aggro from range away from teammates with a few carefully chosen targets using my AMR or Autocannon before retreating and looping back after losing the enemy. Definitely helps with the extraction portion of the mission as well.
Also, if my team is already engaged, I can pick off hard targets with impunity at range. I've gotten quite a few "thank you" emotes from saving teammates getting rushed down by multiple hulks and devastators. I love my AMR and AC.

That was my strategy if objective position would allow. Drop at extract and call in all the supplies and support but leave it there for later, cooldowns will be done by the time combat starts kicking off. That support wall strategy was great, im gonna try that out too. Also i found haebyung a bit ago too, looking up any small unit tactics i can, even if its for a different game! Some fantastic ideas for strategy! I'm definitely going to see if my group of vets can utilize some of these concepts.
I never even thought about intentionally digging trenches with explosives to use as cover! It's too bad that enemies aren't impeded by trenches though. I don't think they need to impassible, but it'd be helpful if their movement speed when exiting a trench was slower in proportion to how steep the exit slope is. Hopefully we get the barbed wire call in from the first game and we can actually set up defenses that will slow the enemy down. Now I want a shovel for digging trenches and smacking enemies over the head with too!

good work, imo this is *a lot* better video than the first - an option for conducting defensive rehearsals can be done on the map, talking with pings on where you want to set up your battle positions and strong points (good on you for bringing them back up in defense in depth) - your companion to the observations point is basically creating SOPs based on fighting tiles - thanks for putting out this content helldiver!

Also, you can totally play around having one player with all of the samples do the stealth extract and the other three causing havoc outside the extraction zone (away from aggroing the bot at extraction) if needed. It'll divert patrols away from extraction, so either the stealth player can extract safely alone (ensuring everybody gets samples) or if situation allows, the other three players rush towards extractions once pelican is about to set down.
Also thanks to how the patrol spawn mechanic works, some players spreading out away from extraction but still within ~75 is meters from it can be used to deny spawn too close to extraction itself or even make the extraction complete non-combat if it is close enough to the map border.

  • @Spec-FiveCarr

🤔 Hmmmm, wouldn't it be cool if you could step on your strategically placed, empty stratagem hellpod and it would lower you to armpit depth...foxhole! Seriously though, you've taken this game to the next level (at least!). FM's are on order. Ideas are percolating.
I used to play Stronghold and would get frustrated with defending my castle. As a retiree, I was able to take Army Correspondence Courses (yes, it was that long ago). The "Engineer in the Defense" was especially enlightening in that it discussed "defended obstacles". Using this info, in the kill zone outside my walls, I would build random columns of stone blocks. The AI would have the enemy stop to chip away at them during their approach-making them easy pickings for my archers.

When extracting, if I feel like it, I will play the bait role
Every second the enemy is looking at me, they are not checking their backs, or advancing to the extraction point.
Extra point if you managed to make them call their reinforcement far from extract, and have them lost you, walking off to a completely different direction
Sometimes, I would ask the team to call in extract while I'm on the other side of the map clearing something else, purposefully aggro-ing patrols just for lols.
Too lazy to run back to extract sometimes. Just have them "teleport" you back lol.
With light armor and stealth, it's surprising how much you can get away with and survive.
Note: always drop the samples at the extract beforehand.

5:18 I’ve seen this sometimes called “soft alert”. This is when an enemy has previously been in an alerted state but their target is lost by breaking LOS. This causes them to path towards the nearest player, sometimes even firing in that general direction with perfect accuracy, and causing them to instantly become alerted upon acquiring LOS again. It was kind of alluded to but not directly given a term so I felt it was worth mentioning
