It's weird that if you 'started' with music in 1990, we called it Techno (at least in Israel). 'Sit on acid' is literally a techno track by 1990-1991 standards. The lowered second in the scale, the beat, the hard synth/sampler sounds, the syncopation, repeating elements. It's annoying that there is not one 'institute' that defines styles, so if you look for techno in 2022 you get a lot of different styles (the beat might be the only thing that's constant). I've started an 'EDMM' series that defined viral 'elements' in styles rather than styles because it makes more sense, I should really continue with this. Yeah, then there's the classical emulations, the German electro, the disco based formula and the ambient. All became other genres but all were around in the beginning
