maybe apply the liquid dye by itself and let it sit 12-18 hours by itself before adding the powdered dye colors. maybe wrapping the ribbon area with saran wrap and tying it off with sinew to keep color from bleeding in to the ribbon area or preventing more color than would occur without wrapping??
