  • ESO feels a bit dated and stale. I still love it and it did manage to pull me back in a bit recently but it does leave me wanting.
    I do want to add a quick note that I feel now should have been included in this video: I don't mean to say that the devs don't care about this game. I think it is very obvious that they do care about it. It is the source of their livelihood after all, I just think their perspective on the game's experience is largely incomplete.

    I've seen a lot of other channels say they feel the devs play primarily DK, which is why they get so much love from them.
    Just as I start having fun with a tank by using the Tormentor set... they take it out back and 'Ol Yeller it.
    Raise your hand if you love being shot by enemies able to shoot through "solid" objects.

      They straight up admitted they use dk to test everything in these latest patch notes. It’s why the game isn’t working properly. They test on one class then copy/ paste the results onto the others and “adjust” accordingly. It’s a very inefficient nay, incorrect way to test anything.

    Whats wrong with dks other than coag being overtuned? The clip just shows a blocktank (with appearently infinite cc immunity) spamming coag so Im willing to bet thats a cp campaign.
    The issue isnt dk, although tbh i cant wait till coag gets nerfed so all the metahoppers can give the class some rest and dignity, the issue is cp and potentially procsets.
    Theres no way a dk can do that in ravenwatch. Arcanists on the other hand.......

    • @BlackBlazeGaming
      @BlackBlazeGaming  6 месяцев назад +1

      Mainly its their core reliance on casting ult and regaining all their resources while either outputting a ton of damage, or abusing the absolutely overpowered Corrosive Armor. There's also the issue of having access to an unblockable, undodgeable stun and immobilize. Their kit allows DK players to build to be essentially unkillable in 1v1 while being able to dish out absurd damage without really building for it.

    • @bennja010
      @bennja010 6 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree with that sentiment.
      Corrosive ignores resistances so you can still block the attacks, block is still the largest damage mitigator next to dodge. Also even in your own clip the dude popped corrosive and couldnt dent you in a 1v1 situation but you said templar is very bad. So either templar isnt bad as you say or corrosive isnt as bad as you say otherwise he would have melted you. Most dks dont even use corrosive, its a good choice but often overshadowed by leap as an offensive ult or s&b ult as a defensive one. Bow dks do tend to use corrosive alot but theyre an almost extinct species lol.
      Regarding the stun, sorcs have streak and the ranged one, albeit the ranged one is dodgeable
      Templars have javelin( i also disagree with your comment about templars being bad atm)
      Wardens have crystal blast
      Nightblades have fear
      Im not familiar enough to speak on the other classes but clearly having an unblockable and undodgeable stun isnt unique to dk.
      Again its not the kit that allow dks to do what youve explained, its the buffs enabled by cp. You could build the same "unkillable" character with basically any class if you have the cp buffs and use them in a specific way. The only class right now that comes close to unkillable and maintaining the damage to kill the average joe while relying only on the class is arcanist.
      Ive played in noncp since it was still named azuras star and the times i went to a cp campaign even i felt godlike surviving and beating players in situations i had no business winning on a 2h bow build.
      Block is highly overtuned and in dks case has coag been turned into a severe crutch so if you put cp on top where block is even more effective, coag heals more and is easier sustained then its obvious youll get these unkillable appearing people hopping around. In ravenwatch they drop like flies when pressured tho.

    One would think Zenimax has the money to solve these issues...actually, I know they have the money to fix these issues....and yet they refuse to do so.

      This is the problem with every MMO (really every game) of the last 15 years. Every studio is more concerned with maximizing profit instead of actually making a good game. It becomes just a complete waste of time to even play anything.

    I love this game, and I really empathize with what you are saying. I love this game so much. I love playing it, I love talking about it. I love diving into all the side stuff and learning the lore. I sweat over trifectas with friends, and I even hook people up with the game often. However. I am heart broken this year. Between the reduction of content, and the necromancer changes coming this week with the new dungeons- I just don't feel confident in the game going in a good direction. It feels diffrent then the 'u 35 LA nerf' or the 'nerfmire' update, or even when we saw the chaos of what Vvardenfel update brought the end game play.
    It just feels half-done. Half done good ideas that are poorly executed and they're closing their ears when we give good data and feedback on the forums and other social-outlets of communication. Ever since hybriization its made the game feel smaller and less diverse for the end game, honestly, and killed any 'magic wizard' vibes for viable end game builds other then tee-hee funny not-sweaty achviement play. Mind you, I am coming from someone who is 90% PVE and 10% PVP (I exclusively just play sweaty lowbies because of how complicated mythics, monsters and arena weapons have made it feel to me). I havn't turned my sub off in a long time, but I am debating it, if it wasn't for the fact I run a guild, and my friends play it and its kinda our 3rd space in a world where there are no good 3rd spaces to enjoy.
    I'm mostly on a break- I log in, do writs- and I do like a trial, or a dungeon once a week now. Been trying other games, and exploring stuff. Neverwinter has been a nice vacation, but the jank and the charm around it is very clear- but its cute, and my friends and I are enjoying the break from ESO- with little money investment. Enshrouded is on the next vacation spot. But really, this whole year- 2024- for ESO feels like 'wait for the chapter to be on sale, and just coast out to hope that 2025 is better'-- for me at least. MMOs are not making money, and captalism is runing the art of the games and enjoyment people have with them. Sorry for the long comment. I just really-- love this game and I guess this is grief?

    Pvp’s stagnant because of the stack healing Zergs and tank meta. Shouldn’t have groups of 8-12 players all popping echoing vigor and 8-12 echoing vigors being able to stack on one player. Pvp is gauged to be so rewarding to large groups that it’s really only fun to me as a solo player to be a stealth nightblade bomber otherwise I’m just getting zerged down and outnumbered.

    • @BlackBlazeGaming
      @BlackBlazeGaming  6 месяцев назад +1

      This is absolutely fair. The groups out there that run like this are also very toxic and in-crowd in nature, partially because they believe that if they tell people what they run, that it'll get nerfed and they'll have to actually come up with something else.

    • @ViiViiDvTx
      @ViiViiDvTx 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@BlackBlazeGaming yeah the solo playstyle has really died. Even in small scale you’ll run into small scale group players that are forced into running powerful assault, rallying cry, spell power cure, transmutation, and arkasis with certain class layouts to complement buff each other to even pull off successful fun small scale plays. Back when it was in it was in its launch years you could casually hop into a group of 4 buddy’s no matter the pvp setup and go out and have successful fun small scale plays if you knew how to play. Now you’re forced into actually perfecting all the playstyle’s each player plays and gear each player has in order to really pull it off.

      @@Jubafree proc sets are only used because raw damage is a dead stat. Raw damage is a dead stat because the healing capabilities in pvp are insane leading to the need of a proc set that does crazy damage in order to pull off kills. The jeralls warchief monster 2 piece is a staple in pvp because it debuffs healing and gives you a chance to out pressure opponents with out them having the ability to recover from a fight as easily via a singular block and 1 heal cast. There has been a power creep with raw damage in eso with very little adjustment to how healing actually gets scaled and changed. 7k weapon damage used to be OP back in the OG days now its achievable in double defensive sets with balorgh and pushed even higher when paired with a comped group buffing all their members.

    (PvP main here) that clip of your Templar fighting the DK sums up what's wrong with PvP. if a game allows a player to build a character that can survive multiple enemy players dishing out all the damage they can and still survive (whilst still having decent damage output) does not have the best designed game combat system out there. the "You Can't Mount In Combat" is now a feature. just like LA weaving. that was never supposed to be a part of the combat, some players found early on that it's possible to LA weave for more damage and instead of fixing it the devs just kept it in the game. now it even tells you on a loading screen that "you can activate an ability immediately after starting a LA". one of my friends summed it up perfectly - "the game engine has been overwritten and modified so much that even the devs themselves don't know what the hell is going on with it and the game can't be fixed any more without completely re-coding it". and that does NOT sell more Crown crates. so tough luck, we have to deal with it..
    sets. soo many sets! why?! what is the point of having hundreds of sets when no one is using them? you can have the meta sets, or you can have the 'just below meta' sets and that's it. diversity of builds was supposed to be the be-all and end-all thing that sets ESO apart from any other game. there is less build diversity now than back when there was no hybrid gameplay. you either use the S-tier or A-tier sets or just don't compete. i don't understand why do they have to release several new sets each patch instead of just fixing the game as much as they can (see my point above about the game code)..
    ESO has the best combat of all MMOs. that's why people are sticking with it. sadly, the devs don't care about players any more (anyone remembers the last PvP update? i mean a real update, not just some fixes, new gear sets or BG game modes). but we are all to blame for this. players buy Crown crates like crazy, so as long as it brings money in why bother making the game better for players? how many years have we asked (for example) for the option to hide tabbards? i mean, some players have designed truly remarkable outfits, only for those great looking outfits to be covered by a tabbard that is so badly designed that the back side is split in two parts. but wait! you can hide your tabbard! just buy a costume from the Crown store! or does anyone know which other MMO does not have a minimap? i mean, IT WAS THERE during the Beta! why did they (devs) decide to remove it on launch day is beyond me. the PC addon simply re-activates it, 'cause the minimap is STILL there, you just don't have an option to activate it yourself. why?!?
    i could go on, but i've written a huge wall of text now that no one will read anyway, so apologies for the rant, i'll see you (EU players) in Cyrodiil some time..

      These are really good points except I doubt that light attack weaving was unintended. Typically animations have to be programmed to allow interruptions, and animation canceling is a long-standing tradition of action combat design. That said, knowing how ZOS is, it still very well could have been unintentional, though many skills in game have been built with light attack weaving to some degree since launch.

      @mzprx76 6 месяцев назад +6

      @@BlackBlazeGaming i am a closed Beta player (and have got the Imgakin monkey to prove it 😁). there was no mention of animation canceling back then. no tutorial had mentioned LA weaving. when i've been playing the game for over a year (mostly by meself) when i got into my first guild and that's when i heard about it for the first time. back then people were talking about 20k DPS as the top damage you could do and LA weaving was something people were recomending, it wasn't a 'must have' thing to do. there has never been any official info about it, it now just 'is' in the game. that's why i think it was unintentional. also, i have read about it on the Forums (years and years ago), where people were actually explaining how to LA weave properly, because that was not how the game was designed, it was something players have discovered. don't know, i may be wrong, as i am a lot of times, but looking at the game and seeing all the 'features' we now have to deal with i am inclined to think it was not the original design. oh, great video by the way..

Instead it sort of leaves people to their own devices having to instead rely on the community for access to that knowledge, which is a gamble. This community is mostly decent compared with other MMOs, but like I mentioned, there's a lot of people who don't even bother teaching the basics and just tell people, "run this set, do this mech this one way" but never explain why.

    I love the game. It's the first MMO i really played and it's the one i've played the longest out of the others. But sadly, the devs just don't understand there is PVE and PVP differences, they just nerf or buff the class in on direction.
    -U41 brought the undaunted keys up to 4, but only for the paid DLC dungeon run....which means you're still only getting 2 keys for the others instead of making the RNG system less shitty cuz of more rewards.
    -Lack of earnable achievement mounts. Most are locked behind pay wall. How can you make an MMO and not lock rewards behind content? it's literally the only reason you grind.
    There is no more developers, there is only corporate money schemes.

    Good to also see a fellow player who enjoyed ESO too much for their own good. It's an easy game to fall in love with, and its limitations (at least in its current form and management) can be a hard wall that you run into. And they can, in the chasing of more casual players, keep moving the wall forward further. One ray of hope may exist: some team of devs may oneday realize how many subtle little things about MMOs that ESO solved. It got some things so, so right. And would not be an impossible format to clone. Especially in the age of AI voice acting. If terrain, NPC models/npc animations, etc could all be speedily generated by AI and a team is able to focus on the core coding, writing, and skill systems then they'd have a game for the ages.
    Invent a big world. Have 3-4 sides at war within it. Have characters with around 5-10 skills in smooth action combat with meticulous hand-tuned animations and feedback. Have a less aggressive cash shop, instead focusing on the selling of high-effort DLC and big production expansions (players want to give you money, but you have to earn it by providing new value).
    Players will figure out the rest. It's almost better to make it a bit too difficult for the average player as well. Less talented PvE and PvP-ers often find the coattails of better players to help them. RUclipsrs will make in-depth guides. Guilds form to complete content and figure out mechanics.
    You just have to build it. They will come. They will figure it out. And the product they want is simpler than it appears:
    Good combat, good questing, some interesting crafting systems. The cherry on top is PvP that listens to the players while having a long-term vision for how PvP grows and matures. Granted, the last one is not easy to get right, but as long as you don't botch it, players will still stick around and play a PvP that's not weird and not broken.
    And whoever is in charge must have a *burning* passion for the game. Players must know the Captain of the ship loves the voyage and the crew.

    They stuck in combat bug used to not be an issue. It used to be that after like 8 seconds of not fighting you could change the skills on your bar, and people did that sometimes. So ZOS removed it by added that new stuck and combat figure. You were never able to swap gear though, just skills.
    As for devs playing the game? I wouldn't be surprised if most don't, however I know that Rich and Gilliam do and at least one more who few people know.

    I had such high hopes for ESO, as the art style a world scale is perfection to me.
    However, I got burned out early on because the combat became so repetitive -- you just find the perfect combination to cause the most DPS and repeat those buttons over, and over, and over, and over. And the "amusement park" style of quests makes you feel like you have no effect on the world -- it just goes back to the way it was. And the difficulty scaling ... makes it kind of pointless to grind and feel like you've earned the level and equipment to be in the area or dungeon you're in.
    If we could combine Elder Scrolls Online world with the combat and leveling style of Elden Ring.....then we'd have something. I installed Guild Wars 2 because I heard that was better ... and I uninstalled it after 2 minutes because the cheesy cartoon style was just not my thing.

I stopped playing ESO for more than a year ago and now that I watch all these frustrated content creators on youtube ranting about it, I think I made a sound decision to hop off. I never understood PVP and got stomped in there mostly, but I use to love the solo trials and I thought the card game was pretty fun too when it came out, but I got burned out by all the nerfs and changes, and stopped wanting to collect new sets because it drained my time. Plus all the nice furniture is in the crown store. Meanwhile you can get three versions of the same carpet or lantern from ingame. Why do they make all those dupes that are almost identical furniture from same regional style?

      @BlackBlazeGaming  6 месяцев назад

      They wanted to do an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls universe, rather than an Elder Scrolls game with multiplayer features. Keep in mind this game's development began early in the production cycle of Skyrim. TES was not necessarily mainstream at the time and Skyrim's success came right around the middle of ESO's production, so people clamoring for a proper co-op TES experience wasn't really common until they were already knee-deep in developing an MMO. I think ESO was ultimately a dream of Bethesda's rather than a response to something fans were asking for.
