It was a real treat for me as well as a youngster in '78. Ran with Shorter and Rodgers for the first mile like a fool... Congrats

Awesome - maybe not the most tactical start on that course but makes for a much better story! Thanks for watching!

Just found this race after I ran the Army Ten Miler while seeing what other 10 mile races are within 250miles of Richmond. I was wondering why kinda recognized your name, you stole a CR from me on strava a week and a half ago lol. I'll consider this race next year, I am already signed up for the ATM again. And good luck with the Richmond Marathon, I may or many not run the half or 8k, undecided as weather pending closer to race date.

I ran the Army 10 miler last year, it’s pretty fast with good support throughout the course. The VA 10 miler is much more challenging, but logistics (parking, hotels, etc) were runner friendly and it’s a really deep field with a lot of competitive athletes.
Looking forward to Richmond - weather is typically good with the exception of the warmer temps in 2022. Less of an issue for the 8k, but definitely noticeable once getting into the half.

@@robmazzanti I ran the Marine Corps Marathon 10k this past Sunday and stayed all the way in Reston and just took the MTA in from there, much quieter out that way and nicer I felt, just a 45 minute ride each way.
I did the Richmond half in 22 and was fairly miserable due to the heat and also the dreaded arch pain from the AF1's. Ran the 8k last year. I'll surely keep the VTM on my radar for next year.

Yeah, sub 5 for a 16 year old was a little overzealous but worth it to run with greats
