Okay, this is embarrassing to say but I was a Jelsa shipper when I was a teen. I wasn't a hardcore shipper and I did have mixed feelings about the two of them in a romantic relationship, especially because they came from different franchises and look bizarre when paired together (the art styles just don't mesh well because Elsa is more stylized than Jack). BUT teenage me thought they shared a lot in common, ice powers aside. Elsa and Jack knew what it was like to be alone. Jack was literally invisible for hundreds of years, he even resents the Guardians for not reaching out to him and letting him know they existed (its presumed they existed long before Jack). And the Guardians see him as a careless jokester, Bunny even vocalizes his dislike of Jack. And, when they discover he abandoned his duty and had taken his memories from Pitch, they were quick to turn on him and refused to allow him to give them an explanation. They were skeptical of him since the beginning and had expected him to fail. As for Elsa...she was isolated from everyone (except her parents) and her sister at a young age. She was kept locked up in a room and her parents treated her powers like some horrible disease. And Despite what Elsa claimed about wanting to be "alone and free", the truth is she never wanted to be alone. She wanted to be with Anna but was too afraid of hurting her. Both of them were desperately lonely and isolated people who were hurting deep inside, isolated from the world and branded as outcasts by everyone around them. Also, I thought they had a good balance of differences and similarities to create a interesting couple dynamic: Jack is more outgoing, confident, and playful. Elsa is more cautious, reserved, and graceful. Both are gentle, sensitive, brave, loving, lonely, passionate. Jack would encourage Elsa to let loose and have a little fun (but not in a pushy way) and Elsa would bring out Jack's humanity and compassion. As a teen, I actually fantasized various encounters between them like Jack befriending a young Elsa and helping her with her powers or maybe him confronting her in her ice palace. Anyway, that was my thought process as a ex-Jelsa shipper. As an adult, I don't particularly care for this ship anymore. I guess I grew out of it? I now see Elsa and Jack as asexuals, free spirits who aren't confined to romance like mere mortals haha.

Jack was literally invisible for hundreds of years, he even resents the Guardians for not reaching out to him and letting him know they existed (its presumed they existed long before Jack). And the Guardians see him as a careless jokester, Bunny even vocalizes his dislike of Jack. And, when they discover he abandoned his duty and had taken his memories from Pitch, they were quick to turn on him and refused to allow him to give them an explanation. They were skeptical of him since the beginning and had expected him to fail.
As for Elsa...she was isolated from everyone (except her parents) and her sister at a young age. She was kept locked up in a room and her parents treated her powers like some horrible disease. And Despite what Elsa claimed about wanting to be "alone and free", the truth is she never wanted to be alone. She wanted to be with Anna but was too afraid of hurting her.
Both of them were desperately lonely and isolated people who were hurting deep inside, isolated from the world and branded as outcasts by everyone around them. Also, I thought they had a good balance of differences and similarities to create a interesting couple dynamic: Jack is more outgoing, confident, and playful. Elsa is more cautious, reserved, and graceful. Both are gentle, sensitive, brave, loving, lonely, passionate. Jack would encourage Elsa to let loose and have a little fun (but not in a pushy way) and Elsa would bring out Jack's humanity and compassion. As a teen, I actually fantasized various encounters between them like Jack befriending a young Elsa and helping her with her powers or maybe him confronting her in her ice palace.
Anyway, that was my thought process as a ex-Jelsa shipper. As an adult, I don't particularly care for this ship anymore. I guess I grew out of it? I now see Elsa and Jack as asexuals, free spirits who aren't confined to romance like mere mortals haha.
