My daughter got a head injury a few months ago, a big cut on the top of her head. I packed it full of yarrow and the bleeding stopped immediately. Because it was a head injury and there where some other signs of possible concussion, we took he to the urgent care. None of the Drs or nurses knew what yarrow was and they were all amazed at how little blood she had! So they got a nice little home remedies and history lesson about yarrow and its role in past wars. She did end up getting three staples. No concussion praise the Lord!
Since you mentioned psoriasis, I thought I'd tell you about what I am trying now that is working. I had head to toe psoriasis. It had recently gotten debilitating bc of an illness. It was bad. I'm talking about not wanting to live bad. Because of you and Stacey I decided to try a Castor Oil liver pack. I went with QOT. I'm on day 14 and I am almost completely clear! ❤
I just ordered my castor oil packs from Queen of the Thrones last night. I can’t wait to start using them. So glad to hear you are getting great results from castor oil treatments.
We don't watch many homesteading videos anymore, we are so busy doing it ourselves and adding more greenhouses and just put in a fully automatic commercial germination house, but we always pay attention when you talk herbs and I bet we will add to our Yarrow plants very soon. Much Love from David and Terri at Old South Homestead
Who else automatically smiles back at Heidi at the end of each video? And periodically throughout the video as well! I have never used yarrow medicinally, but plan to. I used to have a nice patch of it in my garden, but has since been overtaken with other things. I'm hoping to start some seeds indoors for my herbs to plant outside this spring. I'm so looking forward to updated herbal videos. I really need to get my butt in gear and work on my herbal card file. (I've been busy with snow removal lately....great exercise by the way...) God bless!!
Last summer one of my daughters miscarried at 12 weeks. The bleeding continued for over a week, and was very heavy. She asked me what herb[s) she should use to address the bleeding. I told her to use yarrow tincture, but I had just started my yarrow tincture only two weeks prior to the miscarriage, so I didn’t feel it would be strong enough yet. She managed to find a yarrow essential oil, which was ok’d as safe for human consumption. She put several drops into tea and drank it three times per day. The bleeding slowed dramatically on day 2, and completely stopped by day 4.
I love yarrow! As a tea it has helped me and my family recover from the flu many times over the years. However, if you are a nursing mother it will dry up your milk.
last year we were forced out of our apartment because it sold. Not knowing where we would end up, a friend allowed us to garden on his property which is 132 acres with 12 cranberry bogs and ponds. In return I give him vegetables and help harvest his cranberries. Anyway, I found some Yarrow on the edge of the woods in part shade by one of the ponds. I dug some up and planted it in full sun around the garden (about 3 plants in 3 areas) and it looked liked it had died. To my surprise, it came back and had spread and I now have 3 huge patches of it which just started to bloom last week. We now live just 4 minutes from the garden and I walk the property daily finding all sorts of beneficial plants and trees.
We spray the tincture of yarrow as a mosquito repellant. I've gargled with the tincture to get rid of strep throat. A diagnosed case went away in its first three days without antibiotics. It has an antibiotic property that works against strep bacteria. We also use it dried and ground as wound care, although I always prefer to use the tincture to prevent possible irritation to the wound by the dried bits. But where comfrey shouldn't be used with deep wounds, yarrow is perfect for healing in even deep wounds. Wonderful as an oil or salve as you say.
I'm excited to use yarrow more after seeing this video. I've used it once in a tea and I learned that it is amazing at moving bile if that's a desired effect for anyone. You'll have kelly green poop for a couple of days but at least you'll know it's working. 😂
Been wanting to know how to use Yarrow. You mentioned your soaps.... I've been searching high and low for someone that makes a simple ingredient Lye soap. The old fashioned Lye soap without the scents/fragrances. If you don't make and sell your soaps would you be willing to share your recipe/instructions on how you make yours? UPDATE::::: I FOUND THE BASIC SOAP MAKING VIDEO!! I should have searched it before asking about it. Thank you for making that video❤
Thank you for your valuable information! I'm so glad I found Rain Country. I've added to the knowledge I've gained the last 10 years or so and almost exclusively tune in to your videos only. God's blessings from our little homestead in Western PA.
I love yarrow both grandfathers were independent floral wholesalers and both would pick wild yarrow to dry the yarrow for florists to use in arrangements
I noticed some yarrow growing around my garden and never used it until today. I chewed fresh leaves and put them on some misquito bites. They felt better almost immediately :3
Yarrow is a great medicinal herb. We've used it a few years now. Mostly for burns and cuts etc with great results. It also stops bleeding super fast. Healing is sped up and scarring reduced.
How is it used to stop bleeding? Tea? Poultice? I'm growing some but haven't learned how to use it. My husband is currently on blood thinners so I'm always afraid of him bleeding out if he gets an injury.
Poultice. If using fresh leaves/flowers you can break it down by chewing it out using a mortar and pestle. If using dry mix a little water with it to create a paste.
Thank you Heidi! Yarrow is one of my favorites, it's versatile! Tincture is very helpful for pain, inflammation, anxiety, and sound sleep when it is hard to turn your mind off. You are appreciated for getting the information out there, very useful!
Your channel has been blessing us since Feb 2013. It has been 11 years of learning from you. I started watching you since 2015, and I am still not done watching everything you have shared.
I was going to try and make a mouthwash with my tincture for oral health! It looks beautiful with the fern like leaves floating as it is extracting. Everyone commented on how neat and beautiful it was! It also is so easy to grow and beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I am always learning from you!🥰
Yarrow just finished closing up my skin from poison ivy /staph (moldy rental house) rash on my arm! Matthew Wood my current longtime mentor loves yarrow too, for so many things.
Yarrow grows wild in our state. We love it! We let it grow in it's natural habitat. We use it in teas and tinctures. It is very astringent tasting, it works though. So, glad you highlighted this Wonderful herb, Heidi.
I use ground up yarrow as a styptic. Cutting the puppies nails is challenging because of the squirm factor and you cant get precise enough to avoid the quick. I gave soe to hubby for those shaving nicks but he is old fashioned and stull comes out of the bathroom with toilet tissue plastered on his face. 😂 Teas and tea blends are my preference. I made a fever tea using borage, yarrow and peppermint. It was yummy and I believe it helped. If the fever broke on its own because it was time to happen, it was still yummy.😊
When I was growing up, yarrow grew wild in the cattle pasture behind the house. I just thought it was a pretty flower!! Last summer was my first year growing it. Only a couple plants came up, but I got enough flowers and leaves to dehydrate. I'm currently infusing it into some oil to include in my anti-biotic ointment. I thought I would also make something for my husband, who is always nicking himself when shaving! I don't know exactly what to do there, whether an oil/salve, or if there is some way to make a dry bentonite clay-based product. But I did not know all of those things about yarrow! Wow! Thank you so much for telling us all that!❤
Another informative video💕.. I really enjoy growing and using Yarrow. Heidi, do you have a video on the Mica powders you are using? Your make- up is very beautiful while still looking very natural.

I grew yarrow for the first time last year and made a tincture, but haven't really used it. I didn't know you could use it for headaches. I get them often and forgot to grow feverfew. I'll have to try the yarrow for my headaches.
It can take awhile for it to germinate but once you have it established it is pretty simple and you can even make starts from young shoots coming from the root in the following years. I always start such seeds indoors in small pots first so I can watch them closely
I was coincidentally gifted a yarrow plant and was so excited until she told me she used lawn fertilizer to grow it. Should I just use this one as decorative purposes or do you think it would be okay to dry and use for skin still?
Barbara O'Neil recommends castor oil packs with cayenne pepper for neuropathy. I honestly believe this could help but you have to identify what the cause of and where the neuropathy originates from. If it is diabetic neuropathy then it is more localized to the site of the neuropathy because of poor circulation starving rhe nerves at the site. Castor oil with cayenne will help increase the circulation there and theoretically help the neuropathy. I happen to have a dead foot due to a messed up lower back that I had surgically repaired. I tried the packs on the foot but never noticed a difference. But I think my loss of nerve function originates from my lower back and is nerve damage there so I'm considering experimenting putting the packs on my back to help my foot. The way I figure, in this new journey into plant based healing, i am my best experimental subject. I hope this helps.
I am not familiar with that but I do have a video where I teach people how they can do their own research into such things: ruclips.net/video/59r48nUrC90/видео.html
Heidi, i have had yarrow for many years and i had no idea of all the wonderful things that it can be used for, also do you have a book that you recommend recommend on herbs and their properties?
White and some pale colors (light pink, light yellow) are the wild varieties meaning they are going to have more benefits than your cultivated darkly colored varieties. This does not mean they cannot be used though
If they are very pale pink or yellow, they should be pretty much the same but if they are darker colors, they will still have medicinal benefits but likely not as much
How is this possible I'm just talking to someone about wanting to know more about Yarrow then this pops up. This keeps happening continously with all different channels I regually watched based on my circumstial needs, so it can't be to do with youtube reccomendations. So are you all watching me or is this The Lord doing it?
Castor oil will remove scar but you have to daily rub it in. It does take time. Each case will be different depending how severe. It will work on deep bad scars too, not completely remove but greatly improve appearance. It won't work on stretch marks because that scar is formed from the under part of the skin, from within.
I don’t heal quickly and often it gets inflamed before healing - from paper cuts on up! Made yarrow and goldenrod salve. I love it!!!! It heals it up right quick. And perfect timing with many cuts: abandoned kitten we found who now well fed & warm is a rambunctiousness playful rascal with her dagger claws. 🐾🩷🐾
My daughter got a head injury a few months ago, a big cut on the top of her head. I packed it full of yarrow and the bleeding stopped immediately. Yes, I was wondering if you have heard that it’s good for UTIs, and also varicose veins???
I would assume it may help as a tea for UTIs though I cannot say about varicose veins without looking into it.
I hope it helps with acne I got it specifically for that 😅
Would it help with neuropathy of the hands and feet?
That would be something to look into.
Barbara O'Neil recommends castor oil packs with cayenne pepper for neuropathy. I honestly believe this could help but you have to identify what the cause of and where the neuropathy originates from. Can you use the yarrow blossoms that have already started to dry up on the plant? Or do you only harvest the vibrant blossoms that aren't spent?
They are likely not going to have as much benefits but the leaves should still be useful
Thank you for this video do you know of any fruits that can help kill a biofilm infection? Your advice would be so helpful, thank you in advance! ❤
I am not familiar with that but I do have a video where I teach people how they can do their own research into such things: ruclips.net/video/59r48nUrC90/видео.html
Does it matter what color or variety of yarrow you use in your different uses?
If I could only have one herb, I would choose yarrow.
Heidi, i have had yarrow for many years and i had no idea of all the wonderful things that it can be used for, also do you have a book that you recommend recommend on herbs and their properties?
I cover the ones I have in the beginning of this video: ruclips.net/video/kNA5srbQAuQ/видео.html
Any color of yarrow? I have yellow, red, pink and fuschia colored yarrow but no white.
White and some pale colors (light pink, light yellow) are the wild varieties meaning they are going to have more benefits than your cultivated darkly colored varieties. This does not mean they cannot be used though
Have you published a book?
Please see this video: ruclips.net/video/Mvn2EDBvaSY/видео.html
Do all the colors yarrow comes in have the same medical properties ? ❤❤
Yes but the wild yarrow, which is usually white or very pale pink or yellow, is the most medicinal
Thanks for the answer ! ❤
Does it have to be white Yarrow or can it be pink or yellow?
If they are very pale pink or yellow, they should be pretty much the same but if they are darker colors, they will still have medicinal benefits but likely not as much
If pitting in honey or oil so kids can take should it be dried first?
If infusing in oil, it needs to be dried but with honey you can use fresh or dried
How much fresh yarrow leaves & flowers for flu / headache ? @@RainCountryHomestead
How is this possible I'm just talking to someone about wanting to know more about Yarrow then this pops up. This keeps happening continously with all different channels I regually watched based on my circumstial needs, so it can't be to do with youtube reccomendations. So are you all watching me or is this The Lord doing it?

Is there an herb that dissolves scar tissue?
Castor oil will remove scar but you have to daily rub it in. It does take time. Each case will be different depending how severe. It will work on deep bad scars too, not completely remove but greatly improve appearance. It won't work on stretch marks because that scar is formed from the under part of the skin, from within.
@@GreenGranny Thanks. Greatly appreciated

I eat it raw like,e vegetables
I don’t heal quickly and often it gets inflamed before healing - from paper cuts on up! Made yarrow and goldenrod salve. I love it!!!! It heals it up right quick.
And perfect timing with many cuts: abandoned kitten we found who now well fed & warm is a rambunctiousness playful rascal with her dagger claws. 🐾🩷🐾
