You are the only astrologer on RUclips that captivates my interest. Your understanding of as above so below-the first stars being below the horizon/the primordial darkness/the womb shook me. Thank you for this Adam. I’ve always known the ascendant is not a persona/mask we wear. I’ve constantly read it and been told it as I’ve been learning but I’ve always stood up and disagreed because as a Pisces rising I’ve felt very strongly the Pisces qualities I read about and felt it described just how I felt inside....it was part of me, not a mask. It’s so good to hear an astrologer agreeing with what I’ve always known inside 🙏💖🌈

Indeed, in G. Gurdjieff's teaching, when a person becomes identified with something (anything) he/she enters a null state of being. (word choice "null" is mine).
I know this is an old one, but really the most interesting and clarifying lecture on this topic I have ever heard.
Learned the concept you are describing by trying to "pimp my ride." Ha! Dismal failure. I learned about guardrails the hard way. So funny to sit here today and listen to you calmly explain it. When I have acted in service, the experience is completely different, and I now understand, my energy blends with others in a way that makes my own guardrails disappear. I am still within their limitations, but we share in a stronger outcome; my strengths covering their weakness and vice versa. Requires a purity of heart and a noble goal. Not easy to maintain, but I've experienced glimpses. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this talk. I have asked different Astrologers to explain the ASC and I somewhat understood it but you make it crystal clear. I understand why I relate to my ASC more than Sun or moon. Aries sun, Libra asc and Capricorn moon. Also appreciate the explanation of Dharma. I've struggled with determining my natural gifts, etc. In the material world. Spiritually I feel I am here to help spread light and love - I know, so cliché but that describes it well.
It took me until 68 to know I was fulfilling my destiny, teaching artist with profoundly developmentally delayed adults. It took many life experiences to bring me to this place via a winding road.
Sun pisces/10th trine moon cancer/2nd, gemini rising w uranus conjunct & with reciprocity to merc in aquarius/10th grand trine to neptune & jupiter in 5th house. So of course I taught El Ed, sold advertising, both fulfilling, creative & fun. But felt there was "more" I needed to do with my artistic talent, soul itch

About the snowy owl message phenomena, it's happened to me several times in my lifetime of 70+ years, including one featuring a white owl. The one that stays with me is the black cat crossing my path. If the black cat is meandering across the street a quarter of a mile in front of me, it's no big deal. But if they suddenly dart out and really speed by right in front of you, whoa! I become very alert to what may happen in my near future. And it's almost always a black cat that does that sort of thing, never a calico or a tabby or black and white splash. I love your talks.

Cancer Saturn asc...moon in Aquarius 8th house! I definitely struggle...I constantly feel a push pull internally to the external world if that makes sense! I find it very hard to settle my soul...even with regular meditation...sometimes I can't even meditate! I have searched my whole life to figure out why I seem so different than everyone. It seems that most people are comfortable just being...i handle it but my soul is definitely here to learn some things! Your channel is by far one of the beat! Thank you!

I’ve found that throughout the years of my evolution I’ve identified with certain signs. In my teens it was my sun, my twenties my moon and my 30s its my Rising. The more I learn and dissect my own chart I have found planets that have played strong roles and I just didn’t know. I am seeing the value in the chart to be something to go back to as each major shift and cycle ends and begins. I wish it was a map! But it seems to be more of a guide for where energy should be shifted.

I am a Taurus rising, Virgo moon and Scorpio sun in a day chart. I heavily identified with my Scorpio sun before age 30. As I grow spiritually, as someone else mentioned in the comments, I am becoming my Taurus rising. I don’t really identify with my Virgo moon that much, but perhaps that will reveal itself overtime as well. I feel my transformation from Scorpio energy to Taurus energy being dominant goes along with the evolutionary theory about the north node and the south node, and overcoming the past life habits of the south node. Thank you for this and your other videos. They really resonate!
Modern astrologers say Uranus represents astrology. I have Uranus in Aquarius in the 6th house, according to the Placidus house system.
However, I’ve never known that Hermes was said to be the founder of astrology, according to ancient astrologers. I have Mercury in Gemini in my 11th house.
Astrology has become a big part of my life and has helped me on my spiritual journey so much for the last year.

At the time I started watching this video, the ascendant of the time was in the same degree of my ascendant. :) If a couple of other people did not mention the positions of the planets at the time of watching, I would have never noticed. Thank you, this was very interesting.

It is so important that you are serving to clarify erroneous ideas about the individual chart and identity! Specifically, the ascendant being our "mask". If it were a mask, we would be acting superficially and insincerely! The greatest challenge we have is our "caste system" of "professions". We each "profess" in our own manner, what it is that we are becoming professionals at. The greatest challenges are with those who are seeming "professionals" acting without integrity. Those living quite humble lives are symbolic of the most "professional" integrity of being. This dissertation is exquisite, and certainly provides a clearer understanding of one's Dharma as the role one plays upon both the grand stage of life and the integrity of one's character.

Hi Adam! In VEDIC i have a Cancer Rising, Sun & Moon (no planet in the 2nd H but have Mercury in the 12th H. In TROPICAL I have Leo Moon/Rising and I have Mercury & Sun on the 12th.
I have a moon in the 1st house, under the suns beam, and my Mercury in Aries , vesta, Chiron, lot of Fortune and lot of spirit. It is quite a full house

Thank you for this! With my own chart, I wonder what the significance would be of having an ascendant ruler at the end of the 5th house. I’ve seen many astrologers interpret it as being in both the 5th and 6th house, so I can’t help but ask myself whether this is a “fortunate” placement (to use your term) or not.

i have read that certain aspects in a chart show tendencies towards extremes of violence/aggression/psychopathic traits/ etc Would you say this is true in readings? could it be used for good? hmmm probably not.....

I have the exact configurations as you and identify with the Cancerian energy.
The weight of these stories show how heavy the times we are in. The micro reflects the macro.
I always thought dharma was a way to live at your highest vibration whereas karma more towards the consequences of your actions playing out daily be them good or bad. So is essentially the goal in life to live at our highest vibration from our sign of automatic character comfort?

I have a question. Is there any way through the natal chart, that it is able to see if someone will embrace their path and move forward towards realizing balanced karma or if they will choose to move backwards in this life spiritually?
In my opinion (and I’m hardly an expert), probably not through the natal chart. Perhaps a tarot reader or psychic could offer ‘probabilities’. So even with that insight, it would be hard to Hard K Know.
Rewatching this I still have ner felt right about how to interpet dharma. Wherhter using topical of jyotish astrolgyy (gemin or Taurus ascendant ) The ruler (Mercury/gemini) is in the first - both pamnets are conjunct to the same degree. I cant say I embody Venus although perhaps I talk too much.

This might be a remedial question, but can somebody please clarify this for me? My ascending sign is Sagittarius but my planet in the first house is not in Jupiter, it is Neptune. So when he is talking about our ascendant sign in or ascendant it planet which one should I pay more attention to? Do I take on more of the karma of Neptune or the sign of Sagittarius? Any help with this would be great! Thank you to all!
Well, it's not the karma of Neptune or Sag; it's *your* karma -- your mission, path, surroundings, etc. -- being represented by where the various planets, signs, angles, and so on are placed in the chart. Interpretation always involves blending and weighing the various factors in a chart to see which are most prominent/influential, and which are less so. Not everything will manifest clearly to you or around you; and this shifts over time as you grow, which is reflected in transits and so forth. As well, certain areas of the chart are highlighted at different times in your life. Although of course, the Ascendant/first house will always be important; as Acyuta-bhava says, we must always interpret in light of the Ascendant, because it describes your soul's entry point into the world.
Look at the meanings of Neptune and see how its being in Sagittarius might color how it functions as a major factor in your life. Where is Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius? Does it aspect Neptune, or does it not encounter it directly? The strength and condition of Jupiter by sign, house, and aspects will be a major factor as well, as the Lord of the first house. In general, I'd suggest that with Sag rising you'll naturally gravitate toward Sag things, probably in ways you don't even realize. And you'll often express them or encounter them in Neptunian ways -- with greater or lesser effectiveness, much depending on Jupiter's condition and what planets are transiting at any given time. I hope this helps.
(Remember that in traditional astrology as Acyuta-bhava teaches it, Neptune doesn't rule any sign. Modern astrology assigns Pisces to Neptune as a ruler, but those teaching traditional methods don't. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces, so the house where Pisces is will most likely come into play as well, because it shares a ruler with Sag.)
Jupiter rules Sagittarius. You will want to find what house Jupiter falls in your chart.

You will be forced to walk backward!! :) jk. It may not indicate much more than a significant reversal of some sort that begins around or happens at the time the asc ruler turns retrograde by progression...doesn't necessarily mean it's some kind of chronic condition though

I am coming up with the same conclusion for a long time, yet it seems that I'm in a total wrong environment to receive positive recognition.
What happens to people who cannot live-out their true dharma due to societaral circumstances? ... and why is this matrix set-up in such a way that not everyone gets to live that out?
Also what about people who have Cancer and Leo as their Ascendant?
After all their chart-ruler is a double whammy!
I have Cancer rising for example and at the same time my chart-ruler, the Moon, is exalted in Taurus as well.
Then there are people who have their Sun as an Asc Ruler (in Leo) and they might also have it in the first house close to their Asc. - The Sun may not be exalted in Leo, yet it's then in the 1st house, which is ruled by Aries, which in essence is the exaltation of the Sun.
Would you say that those people have an 'accentuated obligation' when it comes to living out their dharma? ... their life's purpose?
I was born with Neptune on the ascendant, so confused all my life.....
One can asume that having Sag with Jupiter in the asc should be pure luck, but with Uranus and Neptune is shocking life events and confusing identity’s also. I have been very cautious of alcohol and drugs all my life, also having an alcoholic father. When I first knew I was Sag asc I refused to identify with it, my father is a Sag and I even talk to him from more than twenty years, a very Neptune squaring my sun theme, I still don’t understand the Sag energy and I feel so prevented with it.
If you tell someone what you see as their strengths and their challenges, wouldn’t that be helping them “get the most out of their ascendant?” I feel like you put a negative slant onto someone trying to understand themselves and learn how to be the best version of the person they were put here to be. I’m not sure who has been asking you these questions, but I would maybe give the person the benefit of the doubt. If they’re watching an astrology video they’re probably a little above “pimp my ride” but that’s not really for you or I to make a judgement on. And I totally feel like that’s something you would say to your students! So I’m just here mirroring! ❤️ maybe the cancer moon is making me sensitive but it just seemed like a harsh reaction to someone asking a question. You can’t blame a human for acting like a human! 44:00- why can't we have a healthy balance of both humanism and fate? Why do we have to dismiss humanism when it has helped so many people find their way out of poverty and pain? Of course you can go too far with any concept, but that doesn't mean it's essentially bad. If mercury is at the helm of our ship that is at the equator of the material and the spiritual, can't he help us navigate a healthy balance between self-determination and karmic fate? We know that we can get out of an unhealthy, pre-written script when we become deeply aware of our psychological processes like our motives, etc, so clearly our mercury (awareness) plays a role in us being released from our karma (script).

In general, you provided helpful info. However, you ended the video on an inconsistent note by praising someone's ability to create something positive with Neptune crossing her ascendant - after criticizing that kind of thinking.
Its not that we don't have participatory agency, Ann, it's how we use it...each transit reflects the workings of fate, but each transit is also an opportunity to use our free will for the purpose of serving our eternal dharma, that is our source and our journey of awakening. So the point is to understand that material and personal gain isn't the purpose of astrology...but when we ask how we can participate with each transit in order to grow spiritually, and serve our source, then we are using our agency in the right way.

Adam I really like your videos but I wish you would let your political views, however subtly dropped into the talk , out of it as it negates the otherwise great material. Especially in relation to the subject of dharma discussed here, as you quite rightly state that each dharma is unique . And if karma is as a result of action taken, then that opens up a whole lot of questions also considering that our blueprints of life need to be lived and experienced , so in that regard even karma is therefore predetermined it can be argued. President Trump is the current here today , gone tomorrow politician in charge so to speak , as per his destiny, but he doesn’t need to be referred to in person on a talk like this because it is very important for you to either remain an unprejudiced observer, or at least keep your personal views on the subject private
I don't think that his political view, mentioned only briefly, negates the teaching. Possibly it distracted you -- assuming you disagree with him -- and that's what negated the teaching for you. There's no rule about an astrologer allowing his political viewpoint to slip through now and then. It's up to each of us to decide how much to let that deter us from taking away what we want or need, in terms of information and knowledge.
Historian212 I don’t dispute the fact that there’s no hard rules in relation to what subject matter is discussed in the post, but yes I personally find it distracting and frustrating. As I am not on here to listen to personal political bias from the astrologer regardless as to whether or not I agree with him. I’d prefer if the teachings were entirely focused on the subject matter.
