Thanks for the video. So the Johnny's guide says to leave the grafts in darkness & humidity for 4-days. Do you find moving them out after 24-hrs under 1-light bulb works better? Also are you closing up the vents on the dome once they are under light? What's the temperature of your controlled room with the lights? Thanks
Demonstration is educative and interesting. Could you please tell us the tool you use for cutting the stock and scion in blue colour. Will help us. Thhank you.
Would it be possible to cut the scion of a pepper or tomato above the cotyledons? That way, the root of the scion can put out growth and you have a additional plant?
It doesn't matter where you cut the scion(top) as long as the circumference lines up. You could experiment with letting the root stock also grow a leader, but the fruit of rootstock isn't usually desirable and I suspect it would out compete the scion.
Increase production, disease resistance, longevity, and hardiness depending on root stock you can get some or maybe even all of these depending on your disease pressure and type.
Are you guys hiring Overseas worker? been from a grafting company "Hishtil" @Israel before and I want to put my knowledge into work. I hope to here from you guys PS: I practiced using blade on cutting scion and rootstock and I could say I was good at grafting Thank you.
I purchased my rootstock seed from Johnny's selected seeds. We found it dramatically increased our harvest duration. It can also help with cold tolerance, some disease and pest issues.
@@zaklanfarm Ok but can you also graft tomatos onto eggplants? Thats what I’ve read on google, its suppose to increase yield like 20% and better resistance. I want to try this like on brandywine, white sensation, aladins lamp or some other heirloom tomato to see if they perform better than the normal one. Would it be worth grafting commercial tomatoes like ”money maker” or ”sakura” or do they do great on their own anyways?
@@fllavour Sure you could try grafting different tomato varieties onto eggplant rootstock if you have the time and resources to experiment. The tomato rootstocks are bred specifically for this purpose so I would guess that you would get a better result. We have tried grafting cherries like Sakura on rootstock and found that they were definitely more vigourous. For us a big challenge is keeping up with pruning cherry tomatoes all summer so we opted not to graft them since.
We used DRO.. from Johnny's. I personally don't think peppers are worth the effort to graft but you certainly could graft on a tom rootstock and you would see improved production.
Why are you doing eggplant into tomato root? Eggplant is much more disease resistant and establishes quicker, I've seen 4 varieties of tomato onto one eggplant stock but never the other way around
Lovely video, i will be attempting to do my own cropping soon with this method!
By what percentage the production quantity increases in terms of cucumbers after grafting, as compared to a non grafted plant.
awesome video, had to swim through sewage to find this informative video.
Thank you
Really love your vibe, really informative videos just wish to had more to feast on.
Thank you! Just trying to figure out how to farm and make videos at the same time. This fall I should have more time to upload some new content ✌️
@@zaklanfarm Amazing we are relocating to Germany in 2022 to start a market farm. Im just trying to digest as much info as possible.

Awesome information. Thank you! From where can I buy Flexifort seeds in USA?
Johnny's seeds, or Osborne seeds
What's the end result on grafting? Are these the same kind of plants? or different kinds grafted (different cucumbers grafted together? or tomatoes?)

Thank you🙏
Awesome video. Love it. What rootstock do you use for the tomatoes?
DRO141TX from Johnnys seeds
i use potatoes
can you clarify the purpose of this practice? thank you!
The new plants will grow with all the characteristics of the rootstock which may offer disease resistance or greater yield.
Among other things
How do I know which cucumber to graft onto which cucumber type? Why do I graft? What are the advantages? This is my first time to think about this
I purchased my rootstock seed from Johnny's selected seeds. We found it dramatically increased our harvest duration. It can also help with cold tolerance, some disease and pest issues.
I thought it was the other way around, you grow a tomato on an eggplant?
Sorry for the confusion, you graft eggplant onto tomato.

Practice makes perfect. Well, almost, with grafting. Grafting isn't an exact art. It is more or less a feel.
