I wish I had friends in Idaho, to whom I could send this. Alas, the ones I do have already know you, Ps. Doug... 🤣 Still we here in TX pray that it fails and does so spectacularly!
First 25 seconds: I mean, that's fantastic. But how do we MAKE these demonic Leftists do any of it? They do whatever they want. God has chosen to allow them to do whatever they want, probably in judgment for our country as a whole. The problem is that when you live in a country with others, you don't get a magic bubble put around you. Those who WANT to obey Christ get the same national judgment as those who are rebelling against Him. I don't even know what to do with that. I confess, I am near despair over this.
I hear ya. It is demoralizing and discouraging. I could go out of my wits worrying (and getting furious) about what's possibly in the future for my younger loved ones. Something to consider is- are God's people living accordingly during this obvious time of judgement? This is a time for mourning, fasting, prayer, humility as well as a time for diligence, standing strong against evil, not being complacent but upholding the law. Being under the same judgement, God calls us to trust and obey. Trust His promises: He is our loving Heavenly Father, nothing will come to us that He, in His wisdom and covenant faithfulness, hasn't ordained. He will supply all we need to bear whatever He's ordained and be victorious. (Romans 8:18-39) In the meantime we must speak truth, love others, seek first His Kingdom, share the good news, make disciples, etc. Praying for you, sister. See the lyrics to Day by Day hymn.

2:53 The ideal voting system is not one that reduces friction between the ballot box and the outcome, but between you and the ballot box, as is your right. Having a quick turn around is valuable, but not so valuable that you ought to sacrifice the representative nature of the outcome. Later Doug even expresses that he prefers an on site ballot, no mail ins or early voating with a hard cutoff. In his haste he has disinfanchized military members serving abroad, to say nothing of people in hospital or countless other circumstances. As much as one might want to gant him charity on this, he did fail to think of while writing and missed these obvious pitfalls to engage in rabid partisan hackery. You, frankly, deserve better than this sloppy thinking.
If Idaho were a red state, this would not be a topic of discussion…Idaho is currently purple, soon to be bright blue, thanks to Boise, Moscow and Sandpoint…
This is what we have in Maine. It's awful. It happened because Paul LePage, the proto-Trump, won when the Democratic Party and the Green Party split the vote and LePage won with just 44% or thereabouts. It enraged the left and they had to do something about it. Later, Jared Golden won district two against the Republican candidate because of it. Golden is kind of like a DINO, akin to a RINO, so I'm not so upset about it. But it's a way to make sure that most of the voters' candidate lose the election each time. What is wrong with a runoff? What is wrong with 50%+1 winning the race? Rev. Wilson is right. It's just chicanery. If you can't win in the square of public ideas, make the count so convoluted the judges and juries who hear the cases' eyes go cross when the procedure is explained. Don't pass it, Idaho. Keep your taters free!
Would you be against rank choice voting for party primaries? I've thought that would be a good idea after repeatedly seeing the conservative vote get split among multiple good candidates, only to have the RINO win the day with the consolidated moderate/liberal 38% of the vote. I believe it would also help solve the problem of the first few state primaries having undue influence on the national party choice, here in PA, the primary was done before we even got a chance to vote.
It isn't malevolent. You just don't understand it. Which is an almost universal fact among those who don't like it. Jungle primaries are stupid. Never use that. That's not RCV though.
Ranked-choice voting isn't a bad idea, though it requires an honest vote count that is beyond hope in our present situation. For example, it would have allowed me to vote for, .e.,g., Ron Paul first and then someone I could almost tolerate and have both votes count against someone I really didn't want. The villain is the open primary for the reasons stated in the vid.
Yes and yes and yes, I would only add that my State only allows you to vote in a party's primary if and only if you are actually registered as a member of that party. I think that should be common sense. There is literally no reason for you to be allowed to vote from another party in our primary. They only do it to screw up the process.
Technically, the primary isn't integral to the system and you can write-in anybody you want. Of course, they've made a lot of rules to keep inconvenient people off the ballot....

Veritasium recently had a video about election models, and it came out with one that might actually be worth considering. It's similar to a jungle primary, but rather than ranking candidates, you can vote for as many or as few as you want. Whichever candidate gets the most votes wins. So you do lose the testing and strengthening of candidates during a primary, but it's about the only system where the results cannot be manipulated by adding additional candidates. No splitting the vote, no Democrats running as Republicans to win the election. Taking Idaho as an example, the winning candidate would nominally be whichever Republican can convince the most Democrats and Independents to vote for him, assuming that he doesn't lose too many Republican voters in the process.
