My wife introduced me to tri-tip. I thought brisket was the gift of God, but after tri-tip, I had to repent for I was wrong. Tri-tip is king of the meats.
23:02 - I'm going to throw a velvet covered brick, with respect for the goodness of our leaders in most things here. It seems like the point of Kirker not Shirker is not being a coward, but the way that courage is expressed is without qualification and in agreement with the mainline view. Where's the acknowledgement that courage comes in being willing to hold our teachers to biblical standards and to patient willingness expressed publicly and privately to be convinced and to convince? Here's a counter-example: Imagine the Johnny Cash ad, but put a bikini lady in place of Johnny. The ad reads: "Wanted: women willing to throw off idols like this woman threw off her clothes." Imagine the bikini lady is now a Christian, has expressed regret about that phase of her life and that picture, with all the nuances on how our culture and contemporary usage and Christian consciences aren't all agreed on that symbol being universally a solid example of immodesty? I think Doug and Friends and CP would rightly push against this as immodest and unkind to a saint, and unclear in communication. But I don't think it'd be consistent. Here's why- the symbol is ambiguous among Christians and not Christians, you're only saying you want "willingness" specifically about "throwing off idols". And there's nothing wrong with "throwing" in some circumstances, so why not this one? Nothing wrong with a bikini intrinsically, or taking clothes off, and you're not saying any woman should do it, just be willing to do it as a metaphor for taking off idolatry. My issue with tying together the shirker Kirker from family loyalties to institutional Kirker loyalty is that we're not married to our leaders, and we're actually accountable to maintain our vows towards this community for unity based on good doctrine, not merely on a public policy of no public disagreements.
The Johnny cash embodies a powerful emotive state, a combination of anger and disgust. The image in the ad is turned around to point at what should make us angry and disgusted. This is a reflection of the cross, an inversion of that which has been used to torment you. The cross is not good, but it can be used for good or evil. We have been bludgeoned by immodest images. Perhaps you are right that there is a way to invert this, and if done effectively, it could be quite potent. What would be the clearest way to present that inversion so the audience understands what they are seeing?
Regarding the NSA ad and the question of when is it okay to cuss: "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Eph. 4:29 Gesturing unwholesome words is the same thing as saying them, and God's Word is clear on this matter. Repent Pastor Doug, and all Moscow men defending this obvious sin. Get on your knees before Christ.
@@philipmurray9796 Well, I guess you're supposed to l earn how to cook well. Most men want a wife that is a good cook. My mother was. But I was dumb as a kid and always found it "boring" to learn. Now she's dead, I'm in my 50s, and it's too late anyway. Oh, well. That's life. It's my own fault.
@@leahrosales1786 It's a waste of time/effort to cook for one. Easier to just have a sandwich! And nobody wants me, at 56. But if a miracle somehow happened and there was a guy and this was important to him, I would do it. He'd surely regret it, since I'm just not good at it. But if he was willing to put up with failure for a while and I managed to improve (and not poison him), I would do it for him, if it was that important to him. But, again, this is a fantasy. Nobody wants a 56 year old woman. That's just the hard reality. That's life.
@@Yesica1993 your reasoning is circular. Try comparing your initial statement with the last one. If you don't believe anyone will ever want you, of course nothing else about your partnership skills will matter. The other way around is to keep the vision there, and then also keep doing work that brings you closer to that vision.
"If you're head knowledge does not result in practical holiness, the hell with it"
That rocked my boat
Hearing the kids hearing Doug's ancient jokes for the first time is just the best! 😂
Great I wish I could afford to send my kids to NSA, shucks i wouldn’t mind being a student myself lol
This is a great talkThanks Pastor Wilson
Thanks for sharing this!
That girl that was howling made me laugh too!

Yep you can put it through a grinder and tri tip burgers are just better
Do you smoke it still?
@@lewislibre when I can find it. We haven’t this year, but we may this fall. Awesome cut of meat!
Maybe tough in human relationships, but there are no strong men only a strong God in you.

assume you are far more feminist than you think!
I feel bad that I'm never getting married because I never learned how to cook. I should have paid attention to my mother when she was alive. Sigh.
why do you say that?
