Hey Will! Looks great. I love BBS LM’s! They’re one of my favorite wheels, but I went a different route for my 993nb. I went with 18x8.5 +50 and 18x10 +50, but my rear tires are 265/35-18. I have no rubbing at all. My fenders aren’t rolled or cut either…I also repurposed my tires from my turbo twists

thanks for sharing the specs. Is the lip on the 18x10s bigger than the ones posted on this video since you went with 15 mm offset difference? I am curious because my biggest gripe with this set is the lip size is the same on the front and rear. Naturally on a staggered set up, the lips on the rears should be bigger than the front.

  • @landom9080

The thinkin of selling comment made me chuckle. While finding the color one would prefer is important, overall condition of the vehicle is always taken into account first when looking for 993s. So if you have a mechanically sound car, selling it will likely result in instant regret.
Wheels look great! I went with the 19” LMRs 19x8.5 +55 and 19x11 +65 with 235/35 and 295/30. I also have a NB in guards red. I’ve only seen one 993 with LMRs before and it looks amazing. Enough to push me to run 19s on a 993. My ride height will be similar to yours with a bit more clearance in the rear to avoid rubbing.

For an even nicer wheel, I used the 3 piece BBS Motorsport E88 wheels, that I built for a custom offset, that allows me to run an 11 x 18” wheel with 285/35’s on the rear, and 8.5 x 18” with 235/40’s on the front . The bare wheels are 1500. Each for a total of around 6,000 retail. I had to do this to get maximum contact on my narrow body 993, as I was breaking the rear end loose with the stock 255’s on the rear. These are also tons lighter than the LM street wheels, for lower unsprung weight. They’re technically not street legal, but I run them on the track, and street. For center caps, BBS makes an adaptor that allowed me to use 928 center caps with the large Porsche crest. I did these in silver on my Arena Red cabriolet, along with installing the Bilstien PSS10 suspension, lowering it to Euro RS ride height, and corner balancing the car. This completely transformed the cars handling over stock.
PS: I’m running an aggressive alignment with a lot of camber, to get the 285’s to clear without rubbing, especially with the Euro RS ride height. I purchase direct from BBS in Brasleton GA. I got a racers discount, so they were cheaper than retail.

Glad you got your Porsche spirit back. After a couple of restorations (964Turbo) and having owned 11 911’s over the years, I know all
about how tiresome and exhausting Porsche ownership can be. Especially when you don’t want to shell out for the new cars and try to navigate as best you can through the classifieds. You win some, and you loose some. Luckily porsche owners are a nice bunch of people so generally can be trusted and great to interact with. Porsche Centers on the other hand…
LM’s look very good. Have cup 2’s on my Amethyst 94 C2. A gold set would make it pop for real I’m thinking. Maybe powder coated Cup 1’s in gold?

@@Rennthusiast I live 1300km (one way) from my trusted Porsche specialist… I’m literally just in from driving my 15yr old to his friends confirmation, all dressed up in suit and everything. A lovely September day, leaves going all colorful and crisp air here up north. While going home I’m contemplating on the fact that I’m putting A LOT of effort just into maintaining my 2 air cooled cars. I just sold a 997.2 C2 6spd because of feeling overwhelmed by having to take care of three cars. The 997 was a keeper a drove so pretty, but not special enough to keep up with the hassle when having multiple Porsches. The air coolers are just another story. Having had the 964 since 2014, my first P, it just gives me so much pleasure, and I’m feeling sorry for those not lucky enough to own one, or just try driving one. The 964 is at my indie for major service, engine out as we speak, sorting a leaking cam cover and replacing bushings, but no matter what it’s just worth it. Hell the “daily driver” Taycan is just sitting there, plugged in, looking lonely in the garage. But for hauling the family around in effortless speed and style the Taycan is the best car there is. Maybe next yr we’ll trade the diesel Countryman for an e-Macan going all electric for daily drivers. Might keep the MINI though if electricity skyrockets and gets rationalized when we’re all searching for a socket to put our 🔌 in😬

Suggestion for 2 small items to improve the look of your 993 which already looks great. 1- clear corner signal indicators amd black monochrome porsche crest center caps. Also I notice on your other cars some of your porsche center cap crest tip is not pointing to the airvalve. That jumps out of the screen so please align that. Lastly, Porsche air valve caps complete the look. Thanks for bringing great content to us aircooled Porsche addicts. Keep it up!

Your car looks great and reflects your attention to detail and choice of quality parts. I think BBS LMs compliment the looks of a 993 (particularly a lowered Narrow Body). I have the bright silver BBS LMs with BBS red Center caps and gold lettering and 245F 265R Pilot 4S on my black 95 C2 NB riding low on KW3s w/no rubbing issues. I've been following your channel for a few months now and have looked back at all your mod videos on the 993. I drool when I see what my car could be when I compare it to yours. I noticed you don't have chip guards ahead of the rear wheels. Have you had any issues with paint chips in that area? I'm thinking of doing some mods to my car that have been inspired by your posts. I can imagine you probably have spent over 50K$ on all the mods and upgrades. That is a beautiful example of a 993. I love watching your videos, please keep them coming. Thanks, Jeff

Great question and I can’t answer it. It’s been going on for 2 years and I just haven’t gotten around to rolling the fenders.
The outside “shoulder” of the tire barely touches the inside of the fender which have some curvature to it so no sharp edge, and not enough impact to do anything to the tire or the fender. I’ve seen the inside with the wheel off and maybe a little black mark, but that’s it.

    • @Rennthusiast
      @Rennthusiast  3 года назад +1

I don’t personally like mesh style wheels on g bodies, but to each his own. An 88 coupe just closed on BaT that had this style of wheel on it. In my view, though, the only right wheel for the impact bumper cars are Fuchs…either 16” or 17” fuch look-a-likes

@@Rennthusiast Yes I do agree with you, but am currently torn between a gold set BBS slight deep dish( I am rebuilding a 82 Guards Red Targa) which matches great with the Red, or a set of Fuchs, but I personally am looking at going all the way to 17” again to fill out the arches! anyway still deciding, but your 993 looks killer with those wheels, your color choice was spot on! thank you for the fantastic content!

No, the star is flatter compared to the E88. Also, the LM is a two piece wheel and the e88 is a three piece alloy. E88 are slightly lighter, too

I have the exact same rims but gold/silver on my narrowbody silver 993, in the rear I have 285/30/18 tires (pirelli pzero corsa)…mines are LM099 and LM100, don’t know what the difference is with the LM265 and LM266. Most porsche forums mention LM099 and LM100 for the 993….mine is also lowered but not as low as yours…no rubbing here…here is an impression: ruclips.net/video/iBf0XdKQGB0/видео.html

Hey. Thanks. I have had some people tell me it’s not bad, and others tell me it’s not good. Usually my audio process is solid as I never get complaints. Would you mind doing me a quick favor telling me where it goes bad for you? Like at what minute and second? Audio is hugely important and I want to get it right.

@@Rennthusiast , gotchya Boss, ...ok, from the very beginning to ~1:38 it feels about 3-4 dB shallow. Right after the inserted clip of the gang pushing the white Carrera it jumped up a bit closer to normal.
For context: I watch RUclips on my Apple TV audio: Apple TV>Conrad Johnson PV14L>Acurus 200x5>JM Lab Spectral 913.1 towers. Video: Apple TV>Oppo BDP103>vintage Emerson 55” 1080i screen.
There are a handful of audiophile RUclips creators that do high resolution captures in an effort to elaborate what a piece of gear or a collection sounds like. I fully understand and expect the limitations of RUclips and the compression algorithms ( or Al Gore’s rhythm )…but I’m still blown away at some of these ridiculously expensive systems ability thru RUclips to still offer a highly resolving capture. Many times being stung by the sound track being used and having to chase it down to see how my system, in my room compares.
Luv your channel and the wealth of knowledge you bring to this sector for those considering a 911. At one point you had me bailing on a 996/7 instantly falling in love w the 993 all over again regardless of that dollar sign torture to play. Best-jon

Man, that’s above and beyond! Thank you.
I use an insta-mic and usually the mic on the iPhone when shooting with the phone but in this case I also wore the insta mic while shooting the “grand reveal” segment.
I also spliced together pieces of 2 different takes in my garage.
I’m guessing I accidentally captured the audio across these different takes at different decibel levels, so that’s on me for sure. Also, I edit in final cut and haven’t figured out how to level audio across an entire video.
Sounds like you know your stuff.
Any recommendations on a more pro level Bluetooth-enabled wireless microphone?
