I think I've definitely got a chlorine allergy. Every time I go swimming, by the end I'm feeling breathless - unnaturally so - and with pressure on my chest. Within hours my sinuses start to get blocked and for two days after it's like I have the worst cold ever; my nose is completely blocked and is running like Usain Bolt, and it feels like I can't get enough air in. I had asthma as a little kid - so little I don't even remember it. I've tried taking antihistamines daily but it doesn't really do anything and I'm tired of feeling awful for days after each swim, which limits how often I can swim to once a week - if I go twice then I feel awful for most of the week. I've already had to give up cycling and weightlifting because of hip problems. Is there any treatment to eliminate or at least reduce this?
I've had bronchitis three times since end November coughing ,sneezing and sore ears..had x-ray done but completely clear..dr thinks I have allergy to chlorine as I'm sneezing so much afterwards for hours..try antihistamine to see if it helps..I only had this issue since last March when I got covid first time
Why is some, are most humans when you check the internet say"Oh no Chlorine isn't a Allergy, except they love that dollar bill?(,and thank you for posting about, Chlorine a Allergy!)
im allergic to chlorine, my armpits have red spots and my legs under my knees, my dad told me im allergic to chlorin so im not alloed in the pool with chlorine again
Same but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to not swim in a pool with chlorine pool. All you have to do is take a shower right after you swim, like right after immediately. And if some red bumps and spots still appear you should get a rash or itch relief this from Walgreens or any other pharmacy, that should remove your allergic reaction.
Arizona: You are allergic to chlorine and need to stay out of pools. I am allergic to chlorine. I use a shower filter designed to filter out chlorine, not just the smell, but the actual chemical. I also use spring water to brush my teeth and reverse osmosis water to drink. If you can afford to have your house fitted with reverse osmosis, that would be great, but it is expensive. If my shower filter is ready for changing and is allowing chlorine to come through, I can become quite delirious, severe nausea and stomach pain, itchy eyes, ears (every orifice!), severe dehydration, photo sensitive (sun), and more. It comes on slowly so you don't realize it until it is full blown. Vitamin C (powder ascorbic acid) is good to use in the rinse cycle particularly for your bed linens and towels/face cloths. I have, at times, taken an antihistamine, otherwise, just drink a lot of clean water (not Brita, it only filters out smell and taste) and shower with a new filter. Many times I have to go to bed because the symptoms are overwhelming debilitating. Doctors don't seem to have tests for chlorine allergy; puzzles me if swimmers develop it. You can get the water in the large containers and buy a hand pump; works well for me. Good luck.
My question is about actual skin reaction to chlorine and water that's my problem.
Same

Dr. we know it's the problem, what's the solution? I get affected winter only.
Yes my good doctor we understand all of what you are saying but what can we do about the skin irritation, itching from the chlorine in the water.
What would cause a reaction of the skin and vitamin c does not neutralize it chlorine remover shampoo does not help at all
