Just looked into this... The subscription is really expensive... I receommend cancelling, and after a couple of years you save enough money to take a trip here to Japan and stock up on hundreds of games at less than US$1 each! I understand wanting to collect North American NES specifically but if that isn't important, I recommend this as a much more fun and affordable idea (plus you can choose what you want)!
Ha, Not that bad of an idea. I’d love to visit Japan at some point.
Sky Shark has a killer soundtrack from Tim Follin, the game does sneakily loop from the 5th level back to the 2nd level so lots of people have "beat" the game without realizing it
@@scottdecowski4913 nice. 👍 that’s one from this box I want to give more time to at some point. Thanks for the heads up!
One of my childhood buddies had the Silent Service and it felt more like code breaking than actual gameplay at times. I think we however managed to actually sink some enemy ships.
@@Kyntteri I wondered if there was a good game in there somewhere. Might have to give this one some time. Thanks for the insight and watching!
I've never heard of this service before, so thanks for this video! I'm definitely interested in trying it out. Good luck working on your NES collection! I just finished mine finally last week, after working on it for 23 years.
Nice! I’m not sure I have 23 years left in me lol. I think the service is great for getting those filler titles you may not pick up. Thanks for watching!
I had Silent Service when I was a kid, it leans into "submarine war sim" quite a bit so I was also a bit lost with all the options. I think there's a simple-ish mode that lets you just sail around and fire torpedoes at the other ships.
@@NoctemOUT oh really? I’ll have to check for that mode. I am interested in giving this more time. Might have to download a manual so I know what I’m doing. I do appreciate how games like these step out of the norm from the NES. Thanks so much for watching!!
@@overwhelmed-gamer I just played the game a bit to check, I must be thinking of the practice mode. You still have to do a lot of realistic things like raising the periscope, switching to actually look through the periscope, set the speed, etc. I guess kid-me was able to make sense of the basic controls.
Oooffff... rough box for me. Bayou Billy for the win. I just did my unboxing. Great video like always that you do!
Dude, thanks so much! I need to give Bayou Billy some time soon.
What % ya got your NES library at? Better luck with duplicates next month!
Not too far about 70 games I think. The Duplicates were totally my fault because I ordered games right at the ends of the month. Thanks for watching!
You'll never have the full NES set if you don't pay attention to Limited Run, retro Bit and others who are releasing new games for NES
@@suroguner I’m looking to collect all the original US releases. But I’m also a HUGE fan of the Homebrew community. Have a pretty good collection there too. If you check my other vids and lives you’ll find lots of homebrew content and I also interview homebrew devs on my podcast 😉. Thanks for watching!
@@overwhelmed-gamer I'm not sure everything counts as homebrew for the new releases. Some of them are reprints from companies like SunSoft, Releases of previously canceled games like Shantae Advance (shipping in January), or even New Licensed titles like Rugrats Adventures in Game Land
@@suroguner I’d agree with that. Broke Studio also puts out some great stuff. That Rug Rats game is also pretty well done. 👍
Bayou billy cool but super hard. As a kid it kicked my ass
@@NYHeeb the short times I’ve played it before it beat me up pretty good lol. I’d like to try it again to see if it gets fun.
people are still doing these?
There’s a few of us still doing these. Was skeptical at first, but since starting my NES collection I’m liking it.
@@overwhelmed-gamer I’m glad you are keeping VGM unboxings alive :)
