Ideally we should have the option to be able to download any content in our library, including marketplace add-on scenery if desired. I don't mind some streaming, but it should be possible to optionally have as much content downloaded (locally stored) as MSFS 2020.
So much this, the streaming is a decent compromise for those who don’t have the storage, but I personally have an enormous amount of space and the desire to actually download the sim so I’m not dependant on internet to even load an aircraft
They have already mentioned a month or two ago that you will be able to download some, if not all of the content you want, when the marketplace is up and running. Shame it isn't available at launch - which it should have been, but the feature will be there.
@@llamaful1448 Consider if everyone who are trying to stream assets are also trying to download 10-100 times the amount of data from the same servers tho
Personally, I think the ‘cloud streaming’ model is the biggest error of judgement, and most counterintuitive decision they could have made. It isolates a huge number of people needing a stable internet connection. But most importantly, you pay a minimum of 75€ for the base package, for a product you don’t actually have in your hands. The product you ‘own’ lives in their servers?! Seriously? There is no way for someone with no internet connection to actually play a ‘game/simulator’. It’s insane. Not to mention the risk of ISPs limiting your bandwidth due to the high data loads. Very disappointed in Microsoft.
That's the way everything is going. Movies, music etc. Companies don't want your owning anything. You're just renting it. They know what they are doing.
When Marketplace gets released you will be able to download pretty much everything to your hard drive. From sceneries, aircrafts, tins, animals, etc. So far only thing I've noticed you can't download is the live data but that makes complete sense.
@@tompsu9536 So why hasn't the marketplace that is going to fix everything, been released along with the game?! 3 trillion dollar market cap, and they launch with an apparently critical piece of functionality missing.
I feel like I've been scammed as they can just turn the servers off while it could be an issue with ISPs as you say. I hope they clarify this with regards to streaming etc. In the meantime, happy enough with X-Plane 11/12 and MSFS 2020!
@@SimonPeelthey didn't even advertise this feature much, so really not much is missing currently. The game works just fine for many who had issues on day 1, so it's easy to assume they'll get it working for most people pretty soon. It's still just 4 days into it. People gotta chill out before calling the whole thing a mistake. I'm pretty sure Asobo thought this through.
My biggest problem is with the bugs when you [finally] get into the sim. Constant CTDs, Simbrief not working at all, keyboard issues - it's not just the servers that weren't ready, it's the whole game.
Simbrief works. You need to use the numerical ID rather than your name. Keyboard issues can be solved (mostly) by selecting the 2000 keybinds in settings. CTDs could be caused by a number of factors.
I have a 30mbs internet connection with no prospect of it improving anytime soon. So I guess I’ll be sticking with MSFS 2020 until MS/Asobo change direction on this 'stream everything' craziness. I have no issues with the scenery streaming on 2020 but won’t buy 2024 until it’s possible to at least download aircraft. Thanks for this video, saved me some money!
Don't feel bad, I have Google 8 GIGABIT fiber and it still doesn't stream properly. The terrain and textures constantly look like minecraft or a game from 2000. I'm also playing on literally the best hardware you can get right now. 9800x3d, 4090, 128 GB of ram.
@@blah3746 on this I can tell you that it must be an uphill battle for Jorg to get workloads allocated. Microsoft, now the largest infrastructure, can hardly fulfill customer workloads which have spiked significantly with the AI wave. So unless he can prove that his revenue is more than recurring monthly /yearly Azure customers (which obviously he can't), he's not going to be prioritised. That said, it's not an excuse for such a botched launch. But I'm still pondering (since MSFS2020) and somewhat worrying how it's even possible for the MSFS team to pull this off. Azure workloads re expensive, and they are not getting a free pass because it's internal. Getting the product on Xbox and boosting game pass must have been a key condition. Let's hope the math continue to work and no bean counter decides to pull the plug down the road.
Yea it must really depend on your location, here in Canada. after a couple hours after the launch It has been running really well, other than a few LOD issues.
Good points raised. I am enjoying watching your videos while I am still on FS2020 but in waiting mode for the hopefully coming fixes. Then I will dive in.
When they first announced MSFS2024, and emphasized that the only way to improve over 2020 was to jettison the previous sim's architecture and go with a "thin client" model with virtually everything streamed, my first thought was "how are they going to get this to work well on anything but the fastest Internet connections?" The obvious answer is "they didn't."
@@NickyNiclas It's not the marketplace itself that's the issue, they were having problems with 2020 addons compatibility, so they disabled the marketplace to keep new users from buying broken addons (while still letting 2020 users have the stuff they own).
i think everything essential should be stored locally. Everything non mission critical can be streamed. Like Cockpits and A low quality place holder for the external aircraft should be locally stored then the HD version can download in the background. (atleast you can fly in cockpit view and not worry about your instruments not loading.)
I had purchased the $200 dollar version and was totally anticipating the launch. The next day because none of us could play it, I found out that everything in my library was STREAM instead of download. Found out that 2024 isnt on your hard drive, its all in the cloud...and if the servers go down or my internet goes down for any reason, Im not able to play OFFLINE. I havent filed for a refund this fast ever before.
I mean, wasn't it pretty transparent about that being the case before it even launched? I'm not saying I don't agree with the cloud being a terrible idea for this game, but I'm pretty sure we all knew this.
@@underleft I honestly knew nothing about it all being on the cloud. I heard the terrain mostly would be streamed, like textures and relevant info, but not EVERYTHING. Right now, its basically Bing Maps with a cockpit and mouse you can select.
So much you say is exactly the experience we have had. The model of 100% streaming has to be flawed because essentially, the number of users (able to play the game) is going to be limited at any one time, so we are being asked to pay for a service that is not guaranteed. When it became obvious that the system was not working on day 1, Microsoft should have pulled the launch advising it would be back after they had been able to ensure volume users would be able to play. Waiting another week or so, to then be able to play perfectly was far more sensible.

@ I'm honestly shocked with how people are behaving under this launch. I know the hype was real , but they are not even giving it a week in order to give it a chance . In 3 weeks time , they will all migrate anyway.
@@jxk4500 Right, Asobo puts out a patch 2 days later prioritising crashes and people complain that they haven't already fixed all their issues. Not to mention all this crying as if 2024 will never have the ability to install stuff, when they've been saying it will be a thing for months. It's straight up being misrepresented and blown out of proportion as if MS is forcing streaming on everyone forever.
Sure, and I’m happy people are having a good time, but I’m not sure what your point is. I haven’t bought 2024 yet because frankly I wanted to watch content creators like 320SP give it their verdict first. Right now, nope not guna buy it. If in a couple of weeks or whatever the reviews come in saying “hey look it’s so much better” then great I’ll drop my hard earned income on a sim that does what I need. I don’t think 320SP reviewing MSFS2025 as a product being sold to people in the context of what it is right now is “bitching”… Correct me if I’m wrong, but if in a couple of weeks the sim is updated and it steams smoothly and we can download content etc etc, they’ll still be charging the same amount to buy it then as they are to buy it right now…? I make my buying choices based on what a product is right now, not what it’s promised to be in the future.
I can at least play now, so that's an improvement. I wasn't happy with the wildly different performance and graphical fidelity though. Sometimes the terrain looks amazing, a lot of times it looks worse than 2020. Performance is all over the place. Sometimes I'm over 60 frames per second at 4K other times I'm down to 15 on top tier hardware. I just don't think streaming is capable of performing at a consistent margin. The problem with The textures disappearing, is because as soon as you're not focusing them, they stop streaming. So when you go to external camera, the cockpit texture stopped streaming, and have to start streaming again when you go back into the cockpit. Also, the argument about people saying it has to be this way because of the terrain is ridiculous. The terrain was streamed in 2020 as well. There's no reason everything except the terrain needs to be streamed. We haven't stored the terrain in 2020 either.
It should be like GMaps with at least your 'home' area being locally installed. Then any flight plans you make should have the option to pre load too. One thing is for sure and that is that this launch experience is not going to retain a whole lot of new customers. Shitshows have a tendency to put people off.
Just finished a 6 hour flight on the A332. Went ok. Airports have floating jetways and default airports are all black..... They need to allow us to download the planes.
The streaming direction Microsoft has gone to is honestly worrying. If it gets to a point where you're downloading too much data over time on the fly, your ISP could throttle your connection.
I think the reality of this launch is that the product wasn't ready but Microsoft wanted it out for the holiday season. I doubt Asobo had much to say about it. It's also clear the the QA is outsourced somewhere s cheap s Microsoft can get it. The current released is plagued with issues and I'm not talking about infrastructure not being able to cope. On that note, Jorg Neuman had all the data about concurrent players, total number of players, etc... How could they have so grossly underestimated the servers loads? With all that said, I'm actually really excited. After a few hours of intense frustrations on the peripheral management, I managed to do a first flight in the I I build A321. It was absolutely amazing. Flight dynamics are night and dy with 2020, the light and atmospheric effects breathtaking, the scenery gorgeous. It ran incredibly smoothly, no stutters, on ULTRA AND I have an older rig with a 5900X/Rtx3090. So no regrets, and a lot of anticipation. As a swimming community we have learned patience over the years. But there's no beating around the bush, this was a botched launch.
I've still not been able to fly 😢. I'm play casually on an Xbox Series S and I was able to play 2020 without much issue. But, on this version, as soon as I load in to the plane it freezes. However, watching that last plane land on water was SO beautiful! That gives me hope 🎉! Thanks for the video.
Asobo did say they were gonna give up the option to download the aircrafts if we want to. It’s not implemented right now it seems but they did say that in one of the development streams. Let’s hope they don’t retract on that statement. As much as I hate comparing, this is what makes X-Plane better. Sure it doesn’t have the visuals of MSFS, but the flight model is there and everything is local. They also allow us to download certain regions of what we want.
You're not wrong. I had a 4TB drive just for X-Plane 11 ortho scenery. It was full with just Japan and 3/4 of the US and ot wasn't nearly as quality as 2020 was. 2020 nailed it with only streaming the terrain. I'm sure they decided to not do that because of xbox limitations this time around. My 2020 8nstall is almost 400gb and I don't have many 3rd party assets, just all the world updates.
I must be one of the lucky ones - I have not had any of the issues you talk about. My load times are much faster than FS2020 - I'm not getting textures popping in and out, everything seems to be working pretty well on my end.
3:13 I live just north of that. I sat on the shore of the north/south inlet on the left to watch the last touchdown of the last Martin Mars water bomber last summer. Island in the middle is San Juan Island, Washington state. Vancouver Island, British Columbia is on the left.
Now that I finally can get in the sim, I still haven't found a way to get in the A321's cockpit without doing the walk around. People state that shift-c would help out here. But not for me. Do you know of a way to get intothe cockpit, cold and dark, without the walk around? I am so happy that I still have the good old FS2020 :) Thanks for any help.
I agree Asobo have given us great default aircraft in MSFS24 and MSFS24 is getting better each day. It nice our in-game Market place add-ons are now available, I find it's alot smoother on my same hardware than my own version of MSFS2020. However, after 4pm playing, MSFS24 still suffers. But it shows a lot of promise. It would be nice to install a 100-mile radius on your own PC to a defined home airport.
I’m personally absolutely loving this title. VR runs better than 20 with much better scenic detail. The career is also very well done. Day 1 was awful but 24 hours later is was a 2 minute 3 second load up (I timed it). So as a DCS 1000 hour guy I’m loving this game!
Well, as a VR only, DCS and MSFS 2020 guy, this is so good to hear. Especially since BestBuy denied me a refund because I opened the box (prior to seeing all of the horrible reviews). 🤣 I guess it's time to install 2024 and see for myself, lol.
I cut them some slack for 2020 because it was such a new and groundbreaking product. So I had high hopes that they would learn from their mistakes. And for the most part they have, but just implemented poor and strange fixes that miss the mark. It seems like the 3rd party devs aced it and Microsoft/Asobo are the ones that didn’t read the room. But the marketplace looks like it will support downloading so hopefully that will be a quick implementation in the future
played it for 10hrs yesterday UK. It ran nearly flawlessly. Did the career for 10hrs, all scenery and planes loaded fine. The only issues where having to restart due to a/c losing sounds after a number of hours Compared to 2 days it's night and day. My network connection went down for a minute during a career lfight. the flight pauses, a screen comes up and saying it has 5 mins to resume or it will return to the main menu. The network came back up, and it resumed fine, no loss of textures
@@Aleksandar6ix it's something Asobo will work on, remember this sim is only 4 days old. The 2020 version had to have many updates in the first month to get it to where it was meant to be at launch.
@@Aleksandar6ix 2020 while it could run without a connection, it would default to really low res, blurry FSX era textures. So to all intents 2020 you really needed a working internet connection I think with the local cache in 2024, and the fact you are saving on the install 12gb in 2024 v 250gb + in 202. That if is working correctly, aircraft should remain in the local cache and commonly flown areas I remember in 2020, you could mark areas to be in the cache, a pre download as such, hopefully that comes to 2024. It would be cool if like you can in google maps with offline maps, say alright i want to download the whole of london at full detail, surely it takes say 20gb , but it will always be on my local storage
2:32 in the background I was surprised to see the San Juan islands I live inland from there usually take out my road bike 🚴 hop a ferry to the islands beautiful place
Totally agree with you and Whoever designed those keybinds was on acid. When it works it does look beautiful. I'm still waiting 10-15min to spawn into the world. I think we are all alpha testers for a products that wasn't ready. It's got great potential but I'm pretty annoyed that at moment there's no way to download to hard drive.
They should have had multiple Alphas and Betas, just like with 2020. Even just to test server load a but better. I agree the sim is fantastic when it works, it really is a massive step up in terms of scenery. Also I've noticed the AP on some A/C is very wonky now, when they never used to be.
I think it's too soon to be calling the streaming model a failure and calling for them to go back to the old way. The reason the launch was failure was not the fundamental design of the game, it was the underestimation of the demand, and lack of server bandwidth. If the servers never ran out of bandwidth, there would be very few people complaining and having a bad experience. It would only affect people with very slow, spotty or no internet. Now... i DO think that these people should be catered for, and so yes, we should have the option to download stuff, but I don't think it should be the default setting. Also, perhaps they could re-write the game logic so that the flight doesn't load up until the plane is 100% loaded and ready to go on your local cache, rather than loading in with missing textures, and then never being able to get them to load without quitting out and reloading back in again.
Streaming of static data is a fundemental flaw. Scenery streaming, yeah of course, but streaming of textures for the planes is a really poor design decision. Planes/vehicles and associated assets should be downloaded once and kept, not subject to any cache clearances. For this streaming model to work, pretty much everything from the egress of data from the azure datacentres to your home internet connection needs to be pretty much perfect. Everyone who's tried game streaming so far has failed, is giving up on it, or it's not working well. Rental of aircraft doesnt automatically necessitate that they need to be streamed. The launch failure was and is a design flaw, left right and centre. Seperately, the underestimation of the demand and the willingness of people to accept such failures as "oh thats always the way", just excuses shoddy business models and practices from these companies. This attitude is rarely accepted anywhere else other than gaming. Gaming is the most lucrative entertainment form now, you wouldnt accept buffering or streaming errors of a movie in a cinema or at home for that matter.
@@Rabid747 I do understand and sympathise with your points, but I'm not 100% ready to agree with you, yet. I may come round to your viewpoint given a bit of time, but I am willing to concede that MS/Asobo developers may know a bit more about data streaming than I do. And there may be a way for it to offer more pros than cons. We shall see once they have a bit of time to iron out the kinks.
@@mdhazeldine indeed, they need time to sort out the other bugs and such with the sim and there are plenty of other issue, and hopefully in time they'll gradually slip in changes that reduce the demand for streaming so much.
MS or Asobo servers has always been the worst for me even in 2020, I have 100Mb/s + in any other online services, its only FS2020 that has a 2-3Mb/s at times, and some time it will jump up to 50mb for 5 seconds
Given all the frustration, I decided to ask for my money back. My plan was to wait and see where this goes and continue flying 2020. To my dismay, MS denied my request for refund because I pre-bought the sim even though I only started using it on the 19th (for 5-10 minutes of "flying time". The rest was just waiting). I thought that was a pretty scummy move.
When I come back home in the evening my Internet connection speed is so slow, that I can't watch twitch streams in 1080. And that is not because of poor performance of my Internet provider. Its just because the whole country have only 2 internet cables that connects us to the external internet. And when people coming home and start consuming entertaintment content (watching movies online, downloading games, etc) - these 2 cables become a real bottleneck. Same is on the weekends. So the only time to play MSFS with all their streaming is at night when I need to sleep to be healthy and have enough energy to go to work next morning. I can afford to buy a large SSD to fit the game on it, but I definitely can't afford to buy a new main internet line for the whole country. Keeping off from purchasing the simulator because of that. Need an option to choose between streaming the content and downloading it locally.
I couldn’t agree more and unfortunately I have a feeling that asobo have rebuilt the sim around this model and won’t be able to just add a rolling cache for the aeroplanes and sound files. I already requested and received my refund from Stream. I may have another look in a few months if they manage to sort out these issues but it’s fair to say this is probably the biggest cockup in game design ever.
They have already mentioned a month or two ago that you will be able to download some, if not all of the content you want, when the marketplace is up and running, including the world updates and the base game. Shame it isn't available at launch - which it should have been, but the feature will be there. I've had no problems in Australia, but I imagine that's because half of the world is asleep when i'm on.
I know it's not at all the focus of its issues currently, but what astounds me is how bad the UI design for the menu screen is. It's mind-boggling to me how bad and unflattering it is.
I am honestly happy that I did not purchase this from the beginning. Seeing the various reviews and seeing what the sim looks like makes me not want to waste my money; I may purchase it after a year of being available.
Mine worked perfectly… from the start. But I have the best ISP available… Oddly works fine on an old computer. I think some people just figured out their ISP sucks. My 2024 sim loads in under a min… 2020… 25 mins sometimes because it loads every complete aircraft. Now, the AI aircraft are online, and only the aircraft you are flying is loaded from online. My performance is crazy good compared to 2020.
It's not a UK specific problem, as it's just pure luck if you get in. I've in the South West of England and I've been able to log in every time for the past 2 days. Did 7 career missions yesterday and not only was it pretty stable but all the textures were loading in. Much better flight model, thermals and turbulence simulation where I fly which is mostly around Florida compared to 2020.
I think the infrastructure challenges right now is that the demand for AI services is high and has the data centers at their limit already and they literally cannot expand fast enough. What's going on is absolutely insane if we look at the broader picture. I think Microsoft should have bought dedicated servers for MSFS2024 to handle the primary load and only use Azure for the on demand overflow. I highly doubt they planned to be over capacity because it has gotten some TERRIBLE press because of this, not worth it. Knowing Jorg we might get a free plane as an apology. 🙏
"Airliners to go (mod)" - Basically you are asking for a mod to run with simplified/low res world with autogen in an optional quite big downloadable package - stream in only live wheater and live traffic? Should be possible. Thank you! 💙
I will say, I'm UK based and have found it better to access last night and today. It's generally let me load into flights and it's mostly worked. Still had missing sounds in the A330. I'm more frustrated that they've locked and encrypted all of the default aircraft, so nobody can access them to create liveries. A FBW modded aircraft isn't possible at the moment. The cynic in me keeps thinking this is because Asobo/MS want to charge for the liveries and addons.
My PMDG aircraft have appeared today, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to get into them from the default “walk around” start, as there’s no click spot on the door. Also some bugs with the aircraft model itself. Back to MSFS 2020 for me for now.
ive been binging your videos for the past day since my friend wants to be a jet pilot and im just interested in aviation as a whole so he bought himself a setup and myself the game, hearing this after istalling the game and having zero issues seems weird. Did i just have good timing? am i lucky or does a lot of these issues been live multiplayer only?
The c152/172 works. Other planes are not ready. Control bindings are incomplete, not bugged. Simply not coded. Long load time. Activating Packages… I usually start the sim then walk my dog, wash dishes, etc. that’s is flat out unacceptable. I only play in vr, and vr was an huge afterthought. It’s got amazing potential for sure, but will take a long time based on the sheer size and amount of issues. This is truly a beta. Remember the tech demo was called alpha. 1-2 years sadly until it’s in a fully functioning state 😢
i really feel bad for the people who cant run this game, personally i've not had any issues conserning crash to desctop or not been able to play, and i am enjoying this game so so much atm doing missions and just enjoying the scenery
I wish i could take at least 1 flight on the new sim. I have the TCA Airbus controls and 4 engine quadrants, the TPR tower rudders, and i CANNOT get the throttles programmed correctly. There's 2 ways to calibrate. In game settings, and the 2nd is only on Airbus EFB's (like the A320 NEO V.2 from 2020, i could never get that programmed either). It's so complicated now.
Hey just watching video very good wanted to say I'm in the UK brought the game yesterday and I've had no problems whatsoever only thing loading times are a bit long otherwise the game's been fine (i have a old pc 7700k,2070 super, 64gb ram, 1tb m.2) 1gb internet
Totally Share your concerns streaming in a lot of cases doesn’t work! Also you mentioned you bought a high end laptop for this game can you share your specs ? To give you a little background im based in Africa (crap internet even on fiber and run fs2020 on a laptop (lenovo légion 5 5800h processor/3070 graphics/32gb of ram) and struggling with both my internet and my laptop at times!
I hope it gets fixed because I actually really like it, the detail is incredible when everything is buffered correctly, and the new activities are neat. I have some serious qualms about it just like everyone else but I think it has some tremendous potential over 2020. One thing that i haven't seen mentioned much yet is the tablet system which I do not personally like at all. I would prefer to just use Navigraph for charts and VFR maps for starters, and at least for me, the Fuel/payload page is just horrendously convoluted and annoying, plus i cant even seem to find the MTOW of the aircraft anymore which is ridiculous. I mean, what about Neofly or Air Hauler players? MTOW, useful load ect is critical information for a pilot to know for these types of missions, and they just left it out? what the heck. Please give me my simple slider menu back and a dedicated Fuel/payload applet, it worked just fine in 2020!
maybe wont get a response, but i have a question. just only got into simulators tried the free stuff that dcs offers and i'm interested in msfs. is it worth getting 2024 over 2020 with a older pc and just a xbox controller?
Flight plans were in missions don’t load. Blue flight path appears after each radio call when disabled using a keybind. I just want to fly my own plan. 😢
I'm going to have to second the fact that your problems are geographically derived or worsened. I live in a not-so-affluent neighborhood in a moderately-sized town in the southeastern USA with a 50Mbps connection, but I was able to launch into the simulator (after a lengthy wait, admittedly) on multiple machines, multiple times on launch day. (I think the first one to get in did so about six hours after the initial launch.) Only on that very first launch did I have any issues beyond the missing mouse pointer stuff (a bunch of missing default aircraft), but everything I tested that was listed in the program's UI rendered well and smoothly. On subsequent launches and on the other PC, all first-party planes showed up and worked well, and within 24 hours or so the marketplace purchases from 2020 had all showed up as well. These, admittedly, have been hit and miss: My Britten-Norman Trislander has a sound issue and I wasn't able to get the game to launch a flight with one other scenery/aircraft combo installed but I didn't try them separately so I'm not sure which was responsible. But given third-party devs -- even well-known payware ones like PMDG -- had basically no meaningful early access to prepare, that's to be expected and I'm sure will be fixed by most relatively quickly once they get to grips with the new sim's changes. Other than for the initial install (first two launches, one resulting in a partial install and one that ran correctly), plus the period where queueing had to be instituted, the game has loaded reasonably quickly for me, anywhere from at best a couple of minutes to at worst about eight minutes to launch. The sim itself runs stably when loaded, flights usually load within just a few seconds, cockpits display and function correctly both on flat screen and in VR, and scenery loads and displays well too other than some asset loading being *somewhat* noticeable (but not terribly badly so). And that's with not one but *two* machines, each sharing the same 50Mbps connection while both flying in different regions of the world to each other. I think the UK specifically has had a lot more problems than in the USA, and the fact that a large portion of the flight sim RUclipsr community is British (as am I, albeit a transplanted one) has made online coverage of the launch even more negative than it merited as I've continued to see RUclipsrs posting videos showing loading issues long after things have been working near-perfectly for me other than for the to-be-expected rough edges in places.
I’m really worried/concerned about this sim moving forwards ! I decided to wait until Christmas 🎅🏻 to get FS2024 and glad I made that decision ! But I’m getting seriously concerned about what I’m seeing and reading ! Fs2024 does look amazing ! I hope Microsoft and Asobo sort this mess out and soon ! I hate being negative 😢 ✈️👨✈️🙏🏻
What’s bothering me is people seem so frustrated with not being able to just get into the game that once they actually do get in they just forgive a lot of broken things and bugs because “at least it works”. The bar has been set unbelievably low.
Players complained about frequent huge downloads, enormous amount of space taken up on hard drives, slow launch times. Streaming was their solution...and it's really, really not. It's like the monkey's paw curled. I refunded when I found out I couldn't download local copies of anything yet. Maybe once the Marketplace is available I'll buy. Until then the money I was going to spend on this is going for the various Black Friday sales for scenery.
On Series X, If I change the weather the game freeze crashes, changing weather simply doesn't work. I'm unable to interact with aircraft EFBs. There's also detail that doesn't fully load on aircraft. I can't fly in Nicaragua because it doesn't exist. I haven't seen animals or the level of vegetation seen on trailers or on PC. I just hope Asobo are able to address every issue that people are having and deliver the experience developers intended.
@@NotTheRambo I built a new PC, so had to do it anyways. What I didn't expect was reinstalling 2020. I thought it all would work out of the box, maybe without the new features, but yes, looking back I was optimistic lol. Absolute shambles of a launch and it's still not sorted. I hate the new control scheme also. They should've just copied DCS or X-Plane's control mapping options, even with the 2020 control option scheme. Worst launch of any software ever in my opinion!
What do you think of the asobo 737 max? I did a comparison with your ifly 737 video for the exterior model and it looks like they got most of the details right! The visuals are amazing but the flight model is what I am concerned about, love to know your opinion.
I haven’t bought 2024 yet because I wanted to watch channels like 320SP give their verdict first. Right now, not guna buy it. 2020 still serves its purpose for me for stable short haul vatsim flights in the Fenix etc. If in a couple of weeks or whatever the reviews come back saying “hey look it’s so much better!” then great, I’ll drop my hard earned income on the sim at the point that does what I need. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if in a couple of weeks the sim is updated and it streams smoothly and we can download content etc etc, they’ll still be charging the same amount to buy it then as they are to buy it right now. I make my buying choices based on what a product is right now, not what it’s promised to be in the future.
I think there are more issues with the steam version. I was gonna buy that but found the windows store version on sale and bought that. Had none of these issues so far. Am playing from the UK
I bet X-Plane 12 has had a lot of sales this week. I'm sticking to P3D and MSFS2020, but did think about getting XP12 when I got my refund for MSFS2024.
I completely expected the launch to be a complete shitshow, given that every single MSFS 2020 update launch was already a mess, but for them to be stupid enough to try streaming all the airplanes as well? Good thing I saved my money.
It’s curious to me that they’re saying they underestimated the popularity of the sim. Really?…….despite they’re own numbers and evidence. The popularity of the sim was obvious to everyone, apparently, except the developers. I call B.S. I’m not unhappy with what we’re getting……eventually. But right now I can’t even get the mouse to pan around in the cockpit so I’m still on 2020, where I can fly the planes I actually purchased.
Sadly, it is not just internet issues. As usual Asobo/Microsoft have failed to test the sim adequately. I ONLY fly in VR. Right now, the biggest issue is that the mouse does not work half the time. Nothing is selectable in the cockpit. The only way to get it working is to drop out of VR and then go back in again! This was obvious to to every VR pilot almost immediately. Why was Asobo unaware of this? They really don’t care about VR that is for sure!
Yeah I got the same impression that it wasn’t tested adequately before release. Very buggy, it even crashed my router a few times among other bugs. There’s always going to be those that say I have no issues and that’s fantastic but the rest of us that are sorting through the bug features are left not enjoying the release of this game.
I'm disappointed for another reason: the default airports still don't look like much. And addons such as Fenix / PMDG are not yet available for it. So for now MSFS is just for toying around, best case. Never expected I would fly X-Plane 12 this past week instead. Glad I did not pre-order. Let's see what happens in the next few months...
There’s absolutely no excuse for this. The flight simulator community is too kind and too willing to offer up excuses for this trillion dollar company,. Microsoft is one of the largest software developers on the planet. This was clearly a rushed release so they could beat the Black Friday rush. Microsoft/ASobo needs to come out and issue an apology for all the torture they put loyal customers through. I love the flight simulator franchise, but I’m not willing to make excuses for this. Simply absurd.
Not been able to load anything freezes from day one. Go to the start screen and it just Crash to desktop spent over 20 hours over past 3 days. Have a i9, 4080, 94Meg RAM but only have a 56Meg internet......
You already can do that by setting the local cache
@redbus36 your local cache is were it gets stored. increase it
Personally, I think the ‘cloud streaming’ model is the biggest error of judgement, and most counterintuitive decision they could have made.
So we all sticking with MFS2020 then?
My biggest problem is with the bugs when you [finally] get into the sim. Constant CTDs, Simbrief not working at all, keyboard issues - it's not just the servers that weren't ready, it's the whole game.
CTDs might be caused by hardware issues, drivers or addons. For example, I only encounter CTDs with incompatible addons installed.
I can only speak of my personal experience of the sim but I've not had any of that.
Simbrief works. You need to use the numerical ID rather than your name. Keyboard issues can be solved (mostly) by selecting the 2000 keybinds in settings. CTDs could be caused by a number of factors.
If simbrief doesn't work, thats a simbrief bug and up to simbrief to sort out
@@cjmillsnun thanks, I'll try this out!
I'm happy to help them with the 'less players logging in' fix.
A Saturday evening at Heathrow on Vatsim should be entertaining!
Very well said. Extraordinary that the second largest cloud provider in the world has misjudged this and been unable to fix it quickly.
Perfect description of the situation!
Thank you for honest feedback! Creators that were flown to their event should also be honest.
Creators were shown a very small carefully curated slice. They couldn't have known.
They should have launched MSFS 2024 when the marketplace was ready.
Did they say why it's not ready? Or are they simply disabling it to save on resources?
To give developers time to update their content to be compatible with FS24 is what I've read @@NickyNiclas
@@NickyNiclas Not sure, Nicky.

i think everything essential should be stored locally. Everything non mission critical can be streamed. Like Cockpits and A low quality place holder for the external aircraft should be locally stored then the HD version can download in the background. (atleast you can fly in cockpit view and not worry about your instruments not loading.)
Every time i try to launch the sim i have to wait at least 30 min on start up!!! The best sim ever but that you cant use!!

@@GeorgeLumkin my point is that it's running fine. Better than 2020. login and cloud issues are resolved .
Totally agree with you BIGTIME … it’s a fantastic Sim but all what you said needs to be done 👍
Just finished a 6 hour flight on the A332. Went ok. Airports have floating jetways and default airports are all black..... They need to allow us to download the planes.
That is why I use Msfs 2020 with my favourite Fenix and huge collection of airports 😊
They already mentioned you will be able to download aircraft and scenery.
It's not available right now as it appears to be linked to the marketplace.
This product launch reminds me a lot of my time at JLR. They are amazing and technical masterpieces......when they work haha.
So as a DCS 1000 hour guy I’m loving this game!
same for me. wondering why people are still getting issues
Well, as a VR only, DCS and MSFS 2020 guy, this is so good to hear. Especially since BestBuy denied me a refund because I opened the box (prior to seeing all of the horrible reviews). 🤣
I guess it's time to install 2024 and see for myself, lol.
Well said... Thanks for the update.
I cut them some slack for 2020 because it was such a new and groundbreaking
product.
The only issues where having to restart due to a/c losing sounds after a number of hours
Compared to 2 days it's night and day.
My network connection went down for a minute during a career lfight.
the flight pauses, a screen comes up and saying it has 5 mins to resume or it will return to the main menu.
The network came back up, and it resumed fine, no loss of textures
The results of losing connection is not good for those running smartcars and a virtual airline if it's a server side issue
@@Aleksandar6ix it's something Asobo will work on, remember this sim is only 4 days old. The 2020 version had to have many updates in the first month to get it to where it was meant to be at launch.

I think with the local cache in 2024, and the fact you are saving on the install 12gb in 2024 v 250gb + in 202. That if is working correctly, aircraft should remain in the local cache and commonly flown areas
I remember in 2020, you could mark areas to be in the cache, a pre download as such, hopefully that comes to 2024.

Even Microsofts own servers are expensive and this is sort of a new way of doing things. It will work but takes time :)
Very interesting, thanks.
What laptop are you running on?
I always find it curious how people today can agree to pay and make excuses for things they bought that don't work as promised?

I couldn’t agree more and unfortunately I have a feeling that asobo have rebuilt the sim around this model and won’t be able to just add a rolling cache for the aeroplanes and sound files. I already requested and received my refund from Stream. I may have another look in a few months if they manage to sort out these issues but it’s fair to say this is probably the biggest cockup in game design ever.

I've had no problems in Australia, but I imagine that's because half of the world is asleep when i'm on.
I also saw that you will (most likely) be able to download tin data to your computer which would be great.
But I have the best ISP available…
Oddly works fine on an old computer.
4:49 I don't know either, but it takes up 50 gigs on your drive and another 16-20 gb as cache so I do not get what is being streamed.
This is the exact issue i have been having! Please ASOBO listen to this man!!!
Yes we should have a option to install individual aircraft.
Everybody needs to tell asobo we want download option. Keep streaming for Xbox and game pass but not for pc users.
I’m on Xbox. I don’t want to stream either. Too unreliable.
This is why all sims need to be able to run offline even if that isn’t the default.
Shift-c
@ Sorry should have clarified I’m on Series X. Have a mouse (essential for the PMDG) but no keyboard.
I thought PMGD said 777 will not work and 737 very limited
ive been binging your videos for the past day since my friend wants to be a jet pilot and im just interested in aviation as a whole so he bought himself a setup and myself the game, hearing this after istalling the game and having zero issues seems weird.
How likely will it be that Microsoft will change their stance on streaming vs downloading the base sim data?
(I think the first one to get in did so about six hours after the initial launch.)
Only on that very first launch did I have any issues beyond the missing mouse pointer stuff (a bunch of missing default aircraft), but everything I tested that was listed in the program's UI rendered well and smoothly.
They should’ve make streaming an option..
FS2020 is looking better and better.
So you'd rather play a sim with less FPS, worse flight model, worse thermal and turbulence simulation and no ground effects simulation?
@@acurisur I'd rather play a sim that works after I pay for it. When this sim actually words, then we can revisit this.
I've went back to it for the Fenix and PMDG. Reinstalled the whole thing which I didn't anticipate doing last Tuesday!
@@ProcyonMantisSo you deleted FS2020 before even seeing how FS24 actually was?? That was very optimistic of you lol
I cant believe it's not posible to make freeware liveries. Such a deal breaker!
Dreamliner Pilot. Maybe time for a new name Sir. : )
I don't have or I didn't even have major problems getting into the simulator but I'm still getting constant CTDs when playing (or trying to play)
I bet X-Plane 12 has had a lot of sales this week. I'm sticking to P3D and MSFS2020, but did think about getting XP12 when I got my refund for MSFS2024.
Third party aircraft will be stored locally on your PC.
Not all of them.
Best thing this game does is make me realise that i can save about 90gb on my XSS ssd by playing FS2020 on cloud gaming....
Funny but I had no issues. Played it fine on launch day and every day since.
It’s working fine for me
I completely expected the launch to be a complete shitshow, given that every single MSFS 2020 update launch was already a mess, but for them to be stupid enough to try streaming all the airplanes as well? Good thing I saved my money.
they seriously need to give people the option to download the content... no reason why this isn't the case.
If you want more, expect also more issues
Unlike fs2020, my first experience in 24 was an alien planet
Two tier UK, even on MSFS 2024 now 🤣
It’s curious to me that they’re saying they underestimated the popularity of the sim.
You can use your vr controller to click on something in the sim, and your mouse will work again.
@ I will give that a try. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it 👍🏻😊
Yeah I got the same impression that it wasn’t tested adequately before release. Very buggy, it even crashed my router a few times among other bugs. There’s always going to be those that say I have no issues and that’s fantastic but the rest of us that are sorting through the bug features are left not enjoying the release of this game.
sadly my VR controller is not be recognized in the sim at all!
