how to get men 1. hide in a dark forest 2. play a song loudly (you don't have to sing) 3. They'll follow the noise 4. capture them 5. the rest is up to you - Hatsune Miku teaches life lessons
I think I'm the only one who doesn't think Miku is some sort of forest spirit. It's a good theory but I think that Miku was the embodiment of death itself, and, since the purple forest could be an indication to the suicide forest in Japan, Kaito was actually someone who went to commit suicide in the forest. The "paradise" could just be Kaito's heaven and that's why he spends eternity there.
This is my interpretation based on comments, and the song itself. Kaito is lured into the forest by the girl Miku. Normally she would lure people in to feed them to the forests so the forest could live on. Maybe because the forest raised her, I'm not sure. So anyway, she lures Kaito and the two begin to sing. His eyes suddenly shine brighter and he is then taken to the meadow. The two sing how beautiful it is and as she begins whispering how they should stay together, she knows it can never happen. So before taking him to the meadow, she put him under a spell. She had already put his body into a tree, but kept his soul and scarf for herself because she had fallen in love with the human. So to keep the trees alive, that is what she did. And now the two are together forever, it's most likely the reason he isn't just dead, and able to echo in the forest and warn others of her as well. Since his body is kinda in the tree and stuff. And that is my Vocaloid theory. xD
I am sort of getting the vibe that this is based on the suicide forest in Japan. I could be dead wrong, but that's what popped into my head when I first heard this song.
SnickyNicky96 no you've got it right. the song is based on the suicide forest: kaito is a man and miku is playing death... or the angel of death since she took him to a wonderful place ( paradise)
Miku is in a role of a Dryad. Dryads are nymphs, or these magical creatures that are similar to elves and are seen usually with green skin, hair, and eyes. Dryads usually lure humans in for tree food or something like that, that's why nobody ever returns. It's either the got lost or if they met a Dryad.
Listened to this song on repeat when I was about 14. I'm now 28 and randomly thought about it while writing a suspense/ mystery novel. Gave me serious bad-vibe chills when I listened to it again.
This song reminds me of Aokigahara, the Japanese suicide forest. KAITO wanders there while lost, and Miku, who seems to be a siren encouraging suicide, brings him to the paradise. That paradise seems to be the "other side", and shows KAITO kills himself.
Snowypuppy277 Haha your profile picture is of Chat Noir from Miraculous Ladybug. Did you know there was a version of Purple Forest with Miraculous Ladybug? 😀
My theory: Carnivorus plants would make gases to lure and sedate their prey, attracting them with smells of nectar and before their gas effected brains were close enough to relise its a trap, (which is very very close) the plant snaps over them and devoirs them. In this case miku is the carnivorus plant (dryad?) and KAITO is the prey.
miku is a tree spirit that feeds of of life force, she lures her victims to the forest and turns them into flowers when she is done taking their life force. When she takes the life force of someone she gains a trait that was special to them.
My theory: The flowers are the souls of the people she's captured. Every time she turns someone into a flower she embodies a little piece of them, in Kaito's case it was his eyes. The purple mist is the evaporated form of what was left of the bodies after she turns them into flowers.
A former friend of mine from early high school days fixed the English translation so it could be sung perfectly to the Japanese lyrics.. I lost the printed papers, and I sadly only remember a few of the words... But the way she put them made it the actual translation seem like a love song.. That's how it always has been in my mind. But these dark theories are quite interesting :)
This song makes me think maybe Miku wandered into the forest herself and somehow died (either she got lost and starved to death or had an accident or something) and now she wanders the forest, acting as a sort of siren, luring people in to be her companions because she's lonely and killing them so they'll stay with her forever. Maybe her voice, like a siren's, has the power to lure people in and the beautiful lake and flowers kaito saw was an illusion she conjured to ensnare him further into her trap, a bit like the lotus flowers in the Odyssey.
I love this story. I memorized the whole story and tell it to family members at ghost story bonfires. it quickly became a favorite among the children and highly requested
@XxtokyoNerdxX Kaito was entranced by the mist of the Purple Forest, so he entered it and found Miku who enchanted him with her voice and then took him to a hidden place within the forest to keep him forever. She does this with everyone who enters the forest. She is also like a ghost of sorts here
I believe that the forest consumed his body, he became nutrients that made the forest grow. Miku is a forest spirit, she lures the people who come into the forest and puts them to sleep with her singing voice, while the trees and other plants decompose his body. That's why we still can hear Kaito's voice even after he died, he became a part of the forest.
a song based on the famous 'forest' in Japan itself. which mean outsiders who don't know the land go missing due to a evil spirted that trick then into they r a innocent person(aka a girl), but ends up showing there true colors
This song is soooo beautiful. And SO WELL MADE LIKE OMG There are a crap ton of Vocaloid songs even nowadays that aren't nearly as good quality as this one. The tuning and everything, it's so beautiful And the video is also super pretty~~~ I love it I'm sad that this song isn't as well-known as others, it's so amazing, and was one of my first few Vocaloid songs. At the time, I didn't realize just how amazing this song is. There was a lot of hard work put into it! The voices don't sound robotic-y, and it even sounds like they're breathing sometimes! I love it so much!! I would kill to see someone today remake this with their newest versions and it be nearly as amazing as this is!
I don't feel like this is a song about suicide, but a song about death. People who come into the purple forest are people who have departed from their physical forms and are traveling there as spirits. Miku acts as the "grim reaper" of the place, making sure that they pass on to wherever they need to be. Miku is smiling in the end because she knows that she's sending the departed spirits to a good place.
My guess is the girl is a siren of sorts. She calls people in with a beautiful voice and steals their soul from their body as food, which would explain the 'You'll never escape' and 'Let's stay here forever.' The reason she has Kaito's scarf is because she killed him. Well... This is my theory. And in the end, Kaito is warning others not to meet the same fate as him.
This is sweet, almost sad, to me. Maybe because the girl (Miku) could have been lonely, but when someone comes along, even though she's alone and can't leave, she still has someone to sing with, and is happy, even just for a moment. :,D
The purple flowers was probably a hallucination as Kaito's spirit became trapped in Miku. She lures people into the forest and takes their voices, adding them to her own to create a mesmerizing song.
When I was listening to this, it sounded very Thai. I was there over break and the instruments and the tune of the music sounded like traditional Thai music to me. Interesting, and cool.
For some reason I think this song is about the Suicide Forest in japan (many people commit suicide there) because in some cultures, purple represents death. Kaito maybe was unhappy in life, and in the forest, he sees Miku, who maybe is also death? Because he is sad with life, she invites him to stay with her, and he agrees, because she take him (willingly) to a beautiful place (maybe heaven?) Eh, sorry for Bad English >.>
I read what you put and I'm just like "I never new that, Oh Holy Jesus!" But yeah it's cool to finally know what the song is about. (I've been listening to it for like 4 years...)
This is beautiful and slightly sad and scary, but it makes you want to cry! My heart literally melted into a pool and butterflies flew inside my belly, it was such a good feeling! This is now officially my favorite song.
I'm pretty sure this song is based off of a suicide forest in Japan. In which case the underlying meaning of the song would be quite sad. My guess would be that miku represents death and suicidal urges and the beautiful lake she shows him represents the afterlife. And because he's dead he's there for all eternity. Once death (miku) catches him there's no going back.
I remember when I just stared listening to vocaloid songs and a friend recomended this to me. It was before I was used to this kind of creepy, so I was scared shitless by it XD
I am in my early twenties and learning about life is the key about being social as a person so you can respect others and all life. This vocaloid song shows being in the rotten hell with up and downs like anything else and when you get out will you be less or more happy just because you found the missing feathers of your wings.
Just to put my two cents in, Miku is a siren. She sits and wait for people to wander in and get enthralled by her voice. She has to make the person be infatuated enough so that she can kiss them (the subliminal message at 3:50.) Once that happens they become part of the mist, which is why she is always alone, but never lonely.
Hey Guys I highly recommend you to listen to the French version of this song ' The Purple Forest: Miraculous Ladybug'. Its reaaaallllyy good! Do listen to it. Also the art of animation is much better. You'll really love it!!
I really liked this song and i think it's about a cursed forest where if you go in you will be hypnotized by an amazingly angel-like person and then you soul will be consumed to never return to which you came from and yeah really loved the singing and story ^_^
@hannyakokoro I'd agree with you on that she loved Kaito, too. Especially since she first sings about being lonely, and after Kaito is fed to her tree, she sings that she isn't lonely anymore. Maybe she's connected to the tree, and now Kaito, since he's part of the tree now...

AhahahaXD You made my dayXD
redloiyu654jay very
+Bwufire wait for your story to be posted in creepypasta. play the game they'll be making based on the story
I wish it were this easy, but it didn't work for me. You also need to have charm.
Tbh , I think she is some sort of spirit , like , maybe a spirit of a dead killer when they were young or something
***** Thank you, that's a really good point too!
...I never thought of that. I love the theory!
Golden_Tsubasa Wow, yeah, that make a lot of sense! :O
Golden_Tsubasa It is based off of an original story. Miku is a Dryad. She is the one that was responsible of his death or disappearance
This is my interpretation based on comments, and the song itself.
Kaito is lured into the forest by the girl Miku. Normally she would lure people in to feed them to the forests so the forest could live on. Maybe because the forest raised her, I'm not sure.

I thought she turned him into a tree
I thought she was a playa i guess i was wrong
I am sort of getting the vibe that this is based on the suicide forest in Japan.
I could be dead wrong, but that's what popped into my head when I first heard this song.
SnickyNicky96 no you've got it right. the song is based on the suicide forest: kaito is a man and miku is playing death... or the angel of death since she took him to a wonderful place ( paradise)
AMAZING AF
Miku: Traveler, why don't you rest here? I shall sing a song for you
Kaito: You already are.
Miku: .........Well so are you.
Touché Miku, touché!
XD here's a 100th like!
Kaito, every heard of a little thing called... STRANGER DANGER?!?
Nope he hasn't
Is it just me that thinks that this song would make a badass horror movie or at least a scary camp fire story?
It definitely would make a good campfire story
oh yeaaahhhh
Miku is in a role of a Dryad. Dryads are nymphs, or these magical creatures that are similar to elves and are seen usually with green skin, hair, and eyes. Dryads usually lure humans in for tree food or something like that, that's why nobody ever returns. It's either the got lost or if they met a Dryad.
Stacy Ma I thought Kaito died of old age and Miku was some sort of mythological creature who couldn't get old,or died
@One Strange Vampire nah she's basically a forest siren. He's dead bc she killed him
Listened to this song on repeat when I was about 14. I'm now 28 and randomly thought about it while writing a suspense/ mystery novel. Gave me serious bad-vibe chills when I listened to it again.
This is way too beautiful to be scary.
that’s how it gets you
This song reminds me of Aokigahara, the Japanese suicide forest. KAITO wanders there while lost, and Miku, who seems to be a siren encouraging suicide, brings him to the paradise. That paradise seems to be the "other side", and shows KAITO kills himself.
whoa deep stuff, i nvr hought of that XD
isnt it wonderful how being lured to your own death can sound so soothing, and DAMN MIKU'S SMILE AT THE END FREAKED ME THE FUCK OUT!
I know right!
omfg its ssssssoooooooo creepy!
Me too
I love this song it's so peaceful and beautiful.
Creepy as fuck but yeah.
I don't trust forests very much anymore. THANKS VOCALOID.
Snowypuppy277 not forest are evil that's where all the animals live in there little homes just like are's
When have you ever trusted forests
Ah you'd be fine as long as there's no purple mist!
Snowypuppy277 Haha your profile picture is of Chat Noir from Miraculous Ladybug. Did you know there was a version of Purple Forest with Miraculous Ladybug? 😀
Stacy Ma Mhm and gasp I did not know that
i wish vocaloid producers still made songs like this
This song is Miku's revenge for Cantarella xD
Is anyone else getting the feeling of Over the Garden Wall?
Yup
+Audrey Rhodehamel definitely. this is exactly what it reminds me of!
My theory:
Carnivorus plants would make gases to lure and sedate their prey, attracting them with smells of nectar and before their gas effected brains were close enough to relise its a trap, (which is very very close) the plant snaps over them and devoirs them.
In this case miku is the carnivorus plant (dryad?) and KAITO is the prey.
So Kaito got high and was eaten by a plant
miku is a tree spirit that feeds of of life force, she lures her victims to the forest and turns them into flowers when she is done taking their life force. When she takes the life force of someone she gains a trait that was special to them.

how is it the eyes
oh sorry i did not see the end
wouldn't it be the scarf? Because she had his scarf at the end, not his eyes?
watch it untill the end
john mark pitiquen oh god that scared me
Everytime there was a pause, I thought there was going to be a screamer haha
Me too! Ahahah! So I closed my eyes a little...

I wonder how did i watch this entire vid when i was young..
And now im too scared to even watch it
I've been looking for this for years. Thanks.
this was the first ever vocaloid song i listened to during like more than a decade ago....i was only 7yo, really brings back memories
Uhm? Are you kidding I would love to wonder a colorful forest with Miku for the rest of my life! This isn't scary! It's a dream!
I love this story. I memorized the whole story and tell it to family members at ghost story bonfires. it quickly became a favorite among the children and highly requested

Remember kids if you hear a strange voice in a creepy forest go explore XD
HA! i got that sneaky little flashed picture! >:3 it was definatly fun trying. this is a great song btw :3
And Kaito dies again :(
Riiiiiiight....?
One of my favorite Vocaloid songs!
These kind of songs always starts "creeping" me and because of that I start overthinking.
-Princess Hilda- isn’t overthinking fan theories fun?
This was the first Vocaloid song I've ever listened to. I‘m so happy that I‘ve found it again.
I believe that the forest consumed his body, he became nutrients that made the forest grow. That's why we still can hear Kaito's voice even after he died, he became a part of the forest.
It is so beautiful! It seems that this is one of the Vocaloid songs that are good for all ages such as children.
a song based on the famous 'forest' in Japan itself. which mean outsiders who don't know the land go missing due to a evil spirted that trick then into they r a innocent person(aka a girl), but ends up showing there true colors
In other words: she absorbed his soul. That is what keeps her alive and young. The other travellers also met her and lost their souls.
He be a tree now...
This song is about the suicidal forest in japan when you go in you don't come out
Still watching in 2015
X3
+everyRin ever “Rinnamon roll” Demon Queen Lets keep it going to 2016 XD
+SleepyOtaku 3025 aaaah rinnamon roll!
Aaaaah Gaming Panda

I really like the colored pencil look in this video :)
This song is soooo beautiful.
And SO WELL MADE LIKE OMG

Such a beautiful melody.... It's so haunting....It would be a fascinating idea for a series....
Okay at first I was like, ooh this is creepy, then I was like, aww this is kinda cute, and now I don't know what the hell in feeling.....
I think the reason Miku's voice is so captivating is because she absorbs every traveller's singing voice into her own...
Hatsune Miku sounds absolutely angelic.
I really love the art in this and now I'm inspired! Arigato!!!
My guess is the girl is a siren of sorts. This was my second vocaoid song, right after servant of evil... this is when i realy feel in love with their singing...
This is sweet, almost sad, to me. Maybe because the girl (Miku) could have been lonely, but when someone comes along, even though she's alone and can't leave, she still has someone to sing with, and is happy, even just for a moment. :,D
You know she killed Kaito, right?
the moral of the story is to not trust singing children in forests
Bye Kaito
The purple flowers was probably a hallucination as Kaito's spirit became trapped in Miku. She lures people into the forest and takes their voices, adding them to her own to create a mesmerizing song.
This song is so pretty 😿
When I was listening to this, it sounded very Thai. I was there over break and the instruments and the tune of the music sounded like traditional Thai music to me. Interesting, and cool.
Something about Miku's eyes make me think of a puppet from Sesame Street (~gets Maka chopped~)
I see that Soul Eater reference there

I read what you put and I'm just like "I never new that, Oh Holy Jesus!" But yeah it's cool to finally know what the song is about. (I've been listening to it for like 4 years...)
to bad new vocaloid songs aren't like this...
I Loved This!
I love part at 3:30
What if Kaito left the purple forest but when he woke up he was unconsolable scared
This is beautiful and slightly sad and scary, but it makes you want to cry! My heart literally melted into a pool and butterflies flew inside my belly, it was such a good feeling! This is now officially my favorite song.
Does anyone know where I can get that outfit she is wearing?!?
One of my first vocaloid songs I heard years ago... So much nostalgia tor re-listen to it, heh.
This isn't even a sad song and im crying...HOW AM I CRYING
maybe because miku ate kaito?
No im pretty sure she just stole his soul and used his eye color.
Rainbowmena Diane Dash I think that they became one in the end.... that's just my own theory
It's just beautiful :3
I'm pretty sure this song is based off of a suicide forest in Japan. In which case the underlying meaning of the song would be quite sad. My guess would be that miku represents death and suicidal urges and the beautiful lake she shows him represents the afterlife. And because he's dead he's there for all eternity. I remember when I just stared listening to vocaloid songs and a friend recomended this to me. It was before I was used to this kind of creepy, so I was scared shitless by it XD
Why are Miku's eyes at the end blue?
Maybe because She take Kaito's Eyes
Because Kaito's Eyes are Blue
Maybe
I believe its because she took his soul with a kiss and by doing that she gained his eye color.
Yup... You're right
Yup... You're right
Sakura - chan they are probably blue because she consumed Kaito and kaito's eyes are blue.
I think this is based on the Black Forest in Germany.
For the past year, 15,000 people were lured there and disappeared after they step foot there
I just analyzed the lyrics and as soon as Miku showed up I thought he is dead.
I am in my early twenties and learning about life is the key about being social as a person so you can respect others and all life. This vocaloid song shows being in the rotten hell with up and downs like anything else and when you get out will you be less or more happy just because you found the missing feathers of your wings.
Does this song remind anyone else of Briarwood? From Free Realms? The sound of the song and the 'purple mist' I mean.
+Flower-power~! ^.^ Yes!
I remember Free Realms! You're totally right.
+Flower-power~! ^.^ now that you mention it
the brairwood theme also carries a familiar tune....
funny thing is, i actually used to listen to this song while playing free realms. briarwood was my favorite spot on the map
Miku is literally a land siren.
It is quite sad actually XD
This song literally soothing to listen to, but the knowing the story behind it. Ohgod
Kaito why did you fall for it
why
Sophia Salazar Because looks can be decieving
I never thought of that, good speculation!! ^^
Anyone else think its a little strange that she’s a “little girl” and he’s a grown man?
(An amazing song btw, I just wanted to say this to say it)
what do you mean by grown man though, his age isn't confirmed 👁 👁
and yes this song is so good 😔
@@flwr5359 in this song he's a grown man, but she isn't a little girl, she's probably a forest spirit just in the form of a girl
it's a beautiful song with a little dark story to come with it
AGGHHHH!! SHE ATE HIM!!!
Nom nom nom go's the Miku
HAHHAHA XD Indeed!
She didn't eat him, just his soul.
Oh that even better, but where is the body? I don't think anyone has been there to clean it up....
She fed it to her giant tree of course.
In the beginning I could just fall asleep to KAITO's nice and smooth voice, and then Miku's high-pitched voice came on and I jumped out of my chair.
Miku + Kaito = Death...
So what if another girl went in? What then Miku? Yuri?
Zaxor Von Skyler
Maybe she'll magically transform into Mikuo...
It`s so beautiful.
One of my favourite song.
ok so she is basicaly like Kirby because she ate Kaito and got his scarf and eyes
and also pure perfection of a song
Hey Guys I highly recommend you to listen to the French version of this song ' The Purple Forest: Miraculous Ladybug'. Its reaaaallllyy good! Do listen to it. Also the art of animation is much better. You'll really love it!!
The Wiliam Afton Forest lolll
Ahh I just love the voices of Kaito and Miku here(༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)💕
Even if not so, that is an awesome explanation!
I really liked this song and i think it's about a cursed forest where if you go in you will be hypnotized by an amazingly angel-like person and then you soul will be consumed to never return to which you came from and yeah really loved the singing and story ^_^
I think she's a spirit, considering she didn't eat any food or drink any water and sung for a long time.
True
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!
Wow, your really deep when it comes to vocaloids... yea but i agree too! Anyway, its nice to talk to you again since school ended. ^_^
It disturbs me more than it should (the beginning pictures after reading your comment)
they both sound amazing and realistic
What a beautiful story : )
Such a long time scince ive listened to this song brings back some memories ^-^
This was amazing! I loved it!
@hannyakokoro
I'd agree with you on that she loved Kaito, too. Especially since she first sings about being lonely, and after Kaito is fed to her tree, she sings that she isn't lonely anymore. Maybe she's connected to the tree, and now Kaito, since he's part of the tree now...
