Great review! I have a Surge, it's definitely top of the line as far as multitools go. If you have the file attached to the Surge, you can still carry the saw blade in the Surge, along side either knife blade (there's YT videos that show you how, just do a search).
I go back and forth between the leatherman surge and the super tool 300 i like the super tool 300 because it's all one tool noting to lose everything is one with my leatherman surge I've got bit kits and ratchet driver it's come down to what I'm doing that day i also like the leatherman bond with the updated blade it's a great multi tool for edc
Had the silver version, very stiff pliers, sharp edges everywhere (had to file all the hotspots). The scissors are ok but weird ergonomics, have to hold the tool in the front. The clip that is made for the Wave and Charge fits but has a lot of play. The one handed blades are nice if you are not a left handed person ore live in a country where those are not street legal (germany for example) Overall i prefer the Swisstool, even though the Surge has some good features like the t-shank adapter, the quality is just better.
Just made a quick response video, after 25 years. I did finally break one piece of this tool under extreme force and leverage... I'll drop a link when I get uploaded
My daughters dad has the Leatherman surge
