As a maintenance guy that saw actually comes in handy. I also carry a small metal jigsaw blade that fits so i can cut metal or wood in a pinch. And I also have a brass beard comb that fits in the same slot. (Blade exchanger)👍

I had the wave, but found it a bit heavy for pocket carry. Currently carry the Bond, which feels pretty good in the pocket. But the surge seems like a really good tool overall.

Have had mine for 2 years now. I love it and it holds up well. Use it all the time especially at work. The pliers, scissors and serrated edge blade is my most used tools on it and they're still going strong. The regular blade is good as well, it's like a full size pocket knife.
The serrated edge blade is excellent for cutting thick straps that even razor sharp box cutter blades sometimes don't go through smoothly (which at work I go through those all the time)

Yeah I personally use those 3 tools quite a bit too. Serrated blades are designed to keep the sharp part of the blade sharp, I personally like mine for how well it cuts through cardboard, especially the thicker boxes.

Thank you for taking the time and do this awesome review! I was torn between the Surge or the Wave+. Ended up with the Wave a couple of days ago. So far so good, hardly notice it in it's sheath on my belt. However, I still haven't ruled out the Surge. Next time 😉😅

I think for most people the Wave will be more than enough. The major difference between the two is that the Surge is just bigger overall. Thanks for watching!

150 to me means life time warranty because you know your products the best. Anymore Leatherman is riding on name recognition to over sell and cheapen quality

Do you know where it was made? A big thing for me is Leatherman is made in the USA.

@@AlsHomestead All of the clones no matter the brand are made in China.

For maintenance the surge isn't worth it with the decent clones out there now.

Arc or even charge tti is better imo. Better quality blades

There's definitely more premium options from Leatherman. It just comes down to how much do you want to spend.

Those blades are brittle and not good for work environments and hard to sharpen in field

@@sebfrett1005 I have the surge and the arc. I just don’t see how the arcs blade is better.

It’d be a great review to do one on a Gerber comp to it!
I’ve always had Gerbers…but I found some cheapy copycat multi tool on clearance from
rite aid ($10 marked down to $1) back in the early 2000s, and surprisingly enough none of them have broken and I kept one everywhere, as well as handed hem out as a stocking stuffer to most everybody I knew that year.
I bought 40 of them to give out,and only kept 10 for myself/family.
Honestly, I decided to never buy another $100+gerber ever again after that, because even if one of the cheapies broke…I still had tons left. BUT…again, none ever did!
It had like 16 tools on it and I think the reason I liked it the best is because I didn’t have to worry about where it was all the time!
Once ya pay so much for one of them..just like sunglasses…you tend to stress over losing it!
    So yeah…
My cheapy look alikes were absolutely awesome.
Oh, the ONLY major difference was…I added a drop of oil upon opening them, so they’d be smooth to slide out after. But other than that?
NO other major difference from the expensive ones.
And I STILL have 2 of them left (I would give them away as I’d tell someone the story about them and how I couldn’t believe I had spent so much on a gerber prior to finding them!)
Then I’d just end up giving them away, lol.
    nice leatherman still!
    ❤✌️
