The idea of Johnny Knoxville doing a film inspired around the extremely dangerous Action Park seemed like a genuinely great idea for a film, kind of sad people don’t really remember it that much.

It also might depend on where you live as to IF the film even got advertised....I didn't even know that the movie existed until it popped up on Prime video or I rented it on PSN either one because I happened across the thumbnail and thought hmmm this looks interesting. Had no clue what it was until I watched it.

Kudos to you Joe for including Buster Keaton and Three Stooges clips where they are ACTUALLY getting hurt on-screen! In the clip at 7:22 of Buster hanging from the water tower, the force from the water pressure breaks his neck - and he ignores the pain as he runs out from beneath the water and finishes the scene. Then, at 7:58 the Stooges clip of Moe falling with the ladder, he breaks two ribs upon landing! And still completes the scene by getting up and double-slapping Larry and Curly... What a pro. Ouch!

If they took out the grandpa stuff and had 20-30 more minutes of character building and scenes of camaraderie amongst the supporting and main characters, I think this would’ve been a damn good, enjoyable, fun, and heartfelt movie. Great video as always, keep it up.

But when I saw the movie I didn’t really laugh. The only parts that made me laugh were the scenes from the trailer and even then, because I had already seen them, I didn’t laugh as hard as before. I can appreciate physical comedy, I think it’s truly a lost art, but I really had a hard time getting into this movie. I think if I give it another shot now I might be able to appreciate what it was trying to do but back then it wasn’t doing it for me, and I love Knoxville! I think he’s great with the stunts.

When I heard about this movie, I was a little intrigued as I had just learned about the Action Park story. And while I feel like I've kinda outgrown the Jackass humor, I do kinda respect them for taking their licks.

Loved this movie when it came out, rewatched it recently before I saw the new Jackass and still really enjoyed it. Definitely reminded me of my childhood summers to a degree, even if a million times more extreme.

Have you ever seen Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins? I love that movie. Although one character would be problematic by todays standards, I was always disappointed that it wasn't more popular.

When I watched “Action Point” when it first became available on streaming services, I found it to be not a bad movie, but a half-baked one. What exactly was wrong with it became more evident on the second viewing.
During the pandemic, I started watching the Netflix dramedy “Atypical” because a family member started getting into the series. I didn’t care for the show that much, partially because I found it’s secondary plot arc involving the lead character’s sister (a jock discovering her sexuality while attending an elite prep school on an athletic scholarship) more compelling than the main one. When I looked up the filmography of Brigette Lundy-Paine, the actor who plays the jock sister, I noticed they were credited in “Action Point” as Four-Finger Annie. I could not recall either Lundy-Paine or a character with that name from my previous viewing of the film, so I watched it again.
It turns out that Brigette Lundy-Paine appears in the background of much of this movie as one of Action Point’s teenaged employees, but they have very few lines, and no bearing on the plot. The name “Four-Finger Annie” is mentioned once, then never brought up again. This trait of being ever-present but not doing anything is true for all of the employees, with the minor exception of the nerd who serves as the park’s accountant. “Action Point” desperately needed a story that gave these side characters something to do besides get out of the way as Johnny Knoxville performed his stunts, and it couldn’t deliver one.
Maybe the forced narrative device made it too difficult to incorporate a storyline outside of Knoxville’s perspective. Maybe the producers didn’t want to invite comparisons to “Adventureland,” undoubtedly a superior coming-of-age story about teens working at an amusement park. Considering the paltry running time, though, the film really missed that element.

The stories and inspiration for this movie is much more compelling than doing an 80s film premise of teens against a real estate developer with crass humor.

    For 2 reasons:
    1. Jeremy Jahns Review of it
    2. Johnny Knoxville's interview with Vanity Fair where he tells one injury when filming this movie caused left eye pop out his soccet.
