MM3 funny that as it’s still in the top 10 fastest shifting boxes of the past twenty years.... all you need to do is have the updates done at BMW and they’re rapid shifts and I have both the CSL and a MK7.5 Golf R with DSG which is equally fast

Ben Mayall the e92 did a 12.4 at his best time on the 1/4 mile and most do a solid 12.8, 13.0 should be possible all day long, even with a manual. Of course the e92 will be faster (non gts)

Iv been lucky to have been in both rs4 and csl my mums friend made shelby cobra reps and he owned a csl back in 07 it was a beast so much power and my brother just got an rs4 and I can honestly say it forces you back in the seat so hard you struggle to move

I've seen this duel live many times before and i have just one question - who the hell was driving the RS4??? Both cars stock and the M3 has no chance whatsoever. 14.4seconds for a quarter mile i mean c'mon... My slightly boosted 2.7 A6 does it 13.8, despite having almost 300kg more and 50HP less. Even on paper the RS4 does this in 13.2secs. And why the hell he left the ESP on ?!? In this generation of RS it cuts the throttle if it senses wheelspin and you can clearly see that in the acceleration. The proper way to launch this is ESP off, build the revs to around 4000 and drop the clutch. I see a lot of noobish mistakes lately on this channel. If you're going to do a test, then do it the proper way with proper drivers or at least with people familiar with the selected car.
I could watch this again all day just for the CSL noise. 💙 Just to give it some perspective, that CSL is probably worth upwards of 100k today. Crazy money.
E46 M3 any variant is an absolute classic, joy to see the CSL on a track, good luck trying to find one, prices for E46 M3s just keep going up and up... CSL is now collector money only.

Like stubones said, the start was really bad for the Audi, and don't forget about the manual. And definitely remember that the BMW weighs 300 kgs less than the Audi, and the power difference is only 20 BHP.
With audis you either get the launch right or wrong..its pretty easy to get it wrong lol but if you get it right you are gone ha can't afford the rs4 b5 so il go for the s4 ,especially if it snows;)

No older car is better than newer versions, that’s bullshitism and delusion based on ignorance. 99.9% of people claiming the CSL is the best M car ever made haven’t even sat in one, let owned and driven one.
This was a terrible race. Was it the first day for that driver of the rs4 driving stick? Stock state side s4s were 14.0 to 14.2 1/4. U cant just throw a driver in a car that doesnt know how to drive it for max acceleration and expect a fair race. Thats called manipulation. Your making the m3 look alot faster then the rs4 when it isnt. Do a rematch with u driving the rs4, or someone else who knows how to. Or race both of idle.

I honestly expected an opposite outcome, I thought the RS4 would beat the M3 from a standstill and lose from a roll, I believe the Audi’s driver messed up the launch

@@sixtimesfive8751 I'm going to sound like a blind fanboy I know. But at least for many new BMWs they underrated the bhp and 0-60 slightly. I'm not sure if it's to basically say 'this is the munimum' because no two cars are exactly the same.

For newer models thats correct. But older espacially rwd Bmw's always struggled delivering their 0-60 times
@@sixtimesfive8751 I said at least. I'm not saying old ones arent similarly misjudged. I'm making a point that often the paper rated specs magazines etc quoted were not necessarily what all the cars would put out. Then you factor in conditions and tyres.
RWD does struggle more with standing sprints of course but that's not going to give us anything to go on for older BMWs.
Mines is RWD. Doesn't tell us anything about what the actual times can be though as I know first hand.

I've seen this duel live many times before and i have just one question - who the hell was driving the RS4??? Both cars stock and the M3 has no chance whatsoever. 14.4seconds for a quarter mile i mean c'mon... My slightly boosted 2.7 A6 does it 13.8, despite having almost 300kg more and 50HP less. Even on paper the RS4 does this in 13.2secs. And why the hell he left the ESP on ?!? In this generation of RS it cuts the throttle if it senses wheelspin and you can clearly see that in the acceleration. The proper way to launch this is ESP off, build the revs to around 4000 and drop the clutch. I see a lot of noobish mistakes lately on this channel. If you're going to do a test, then do it the proper way with proper drivers or at least with people familiar with the selected car.

Gladius the Audi is a manual so it suffered from driver “error”.
Like stubones said, the start was really bad for the Audi, and don't forget about the manual. And definitely remember that the BMW weighs 300 kgs less than the Audi, and the power difference is only 20 BHP.
With audis you either get the launch right or wrong..its pretty easy to get it wrong lol but if you get it right you are gone ha can't afford the rs4 b5 so il go for the s4 ,especially if it snows;)
@@Vazin Yeah you're right, the RS models from Audi used to be such beasts even from a rolling start. Sadly the RS4 B7 wasn't that much faster than its predecessor, or even slower due to heavy weight and N/A engine.

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, but aside from exhaust note the new cars are better machines in every single way. The older car is no doubt more rewarding to drive because of its relative simplicity but it’s not a better car. No older car is better than newer versions, that’s bullshitism and delusion based on ignorance. 99.9% of people claiming the CSL is the best M car ever made haven’t even sat in one, let owned and driven one.

This was a terrible race. Was it the first day for that driver of the rs4 driving stick? Stock state side s4s were 14.0 to 14.2 1/4. U cant just throw a driver in a car that doesnt know how to drive it for max acceleration and expect a fair race. Thats called manipulation. Your making the m3 look alot faster then the rs4 when it isnt. Do a rematch with u driving the rs4, or someone else who knows how to. Or race both of idle.
