  • In this video, Jeff demonstrates the solutions he settled upon for being able to take the form-factor of the Canon C70 and build it out for different production uses. He covers the Lean-and-Mean handheld set-up, the easyrig-style stabilizer set-up and considerations therein, as well as a shoulder mount option.

Thanks for this breakdown. The C70 is on my list as my upgrade to a cinema camera. This is perfect for future reference.

What easy rig are you using? Do you like it?

It’s a Flycam Flowline Master with steady arm - it’s ok. I wish I had gotten an Easyrig instead mainly because the waist strap on the Flycam is kinda thin and cheap and not as supportive as on an Easyrig.

How do you get around having the easy rig rope in front of the monitor? Just have to deal with it or is it out of the way?

Doesn’t bother me at all. Yes it’s a bit in the way but the camera is off to one side, which means I’m looking at the monitor at a somewhat oblique angle, which puts the cable off to one side of the monitor, I still cleanly see 2/3rds of the monitor. Even with all that, when I’m shooting I’m concentrating on other things and the cable fades away.

Are you doing mostly auto-focus or manual focus? I just can't get over the rope in front of the monitor. And then mounting the monitor to the left puts the balance off for the easy rig. Still trying to figure out what works best for us@@onseteducation921

Great video! I am looking for a solution like the one you touch base on with the Frog Clip and Easy Rig. There are a lot of Eye Bolts and Frog Clip options on Amazon. Can you possibly specify what you're using? Your Eye Bolt appears to be larger than what I am seeing. Also, what does the other end of the Frog Clip connect to on the Easy Rig?

Hi Chris! The other end of the frog clip just sits in the U-cradle of the easyrig - I add some gaff tape (just in case) to keep it from falling out, but the pressure of the clamp-down holds it pretty well. The eyebolt I use is a 3/8" and screws in to the top handle in a spot that best balances the front-to-back of the camera so it's not leaning one way or the other. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0767KLF35/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
