I just shot a few of the new bows last week (PSE, Bowtech, Hoyt, Prime, and Mathews). And honestly, the Hoyt Alpha X 33 was the very first bow I eliminated out of the bunch. That grip is horrendous. And surprisingly, I enjoyed shooting the grip on the Mathews Lift. In the past, I haven’t been a fan of Mathews stock grips.
All of the new bows are so good, you can’t really go wrong. I feel like I could shoot all of them well. I’ve shot PSE the last 3 years, and this is the first year I was impressed enough with another company’s bow to switch. I ended up going with the Lift 33” and so far I’m extremely happy with my decision. Only time will tell though how I really feel about it once that new bow honeymoon is over.

Shot both and I thought the draw cycle was night and day. The LIFT had a smooth draw cycle until about 80% of the full draw it felt like it was harder for the cam to roll over. The Hoyt was smooth and consistent the whole way back. Lift was definitely lighter but after you add accessories it wouldn’t add up. The grip was also nicer on the Hoyt

I've also shot both of these bows. I also thought the draw was nicer on the Mathews. I liked the grip better on the hoyt. Both had super solid back walls. You really can't go wrong with either of these bows.
Surprisingly to me, because I traditionally lean towards Hoyt, if I had bought a bow that day, I would have picked the mathews. The weight difference between them was very noticeable, and once you added all your accessories, I felt that the mathews would be spot on over all weight and stability.

The rounded edges on the back of a Mathew's grip make it impossible for me to get the bow settled in my hand. I almost sold my Mathew's over it but added the BeeReal grip and now the bow sets rock solid in my hand. He's a hoyt shooter as am I and I found it extremely difficult to switch from my hoyt and mathew's with the mathew's factory grip.

I have 4 and they don’t need stabs.. the phase 4 that I sold had front and back stabs and still didn’t compare. And the Finnish sucks the whole front of the Mathew’s didn’t have paint any more just the base coat and I only shot it 3 months. My Hoyt’s been in the woods get shot everyday and no chipped paint or anything, they’re built like tanks. That Mathew’s felt like cheap materials were used to make it idk. I would like to see the mod on the Hoyt. I would believe looking at and watching the video again, that the Hoyt had a #2 mod at 29" (maxed draw for that mod). The Hoyts will absolutely perform remarkable at maxed draws on the mods. 30" on the #3 mod would be middle of it. Even watching the video, it appears the nock sits further forward with the Hoyt. The Lifts have been much more accurate in terms of actually being close, really close, to the mods draw length.

I had a Hoyt hyperforce and switched over to a Mathews v3 a few years back thinking the Mathews would be way better (I bought it on sale online without trying one) and right away I noticed how the Hoyt held on target way better right out of the draw like it was locked in where the Mathews teetered back and forth and floated around taking a while to settle. I switched to the bee real grip and that helped a bit but never felt as comfortable and confident as I did with a Hoyt. Honestly not even close either in my opinion and the hyper force wasn’t even considered a great bow. The v3 was quieter and drew better but it gave me more target panic as it took a while to settle it. Where as with the Hoyt even if I had target panic the bow didn’t move. I’ve gotten used to the V3 but will be switching back to Hoyt I think for my next bow.

I’ll have to do it again and show me verifying each bows weight and it’s draw length. Nothing was done intentionally concerning the speeds. I had the shop set them up to 70# and 30” draw. I then simply shot it through the chrono and showed the results. Between the 2 lifts I shot, they both shot slower then the few Hoyt’s I shot. I’d be curious if most reviews have a hot mathews that comes from the factory roughly that 73#-75# which is typical. And mines a true 70#.
But since there’s a few people mentioning this I am curious and would love to do it again and just quadruple verify each setting on each bow to see speeds again.

@@HaxenHunt most reviews show them physically checking the weight with a hand scale device. Some also show the read out of the chrono. I am not saying you’re purposely deceiving anyone. Maybe your shop is not doing a very good job setting them up for you, or maybe everyone else in the industry is lying. I don’t know, I just find it interesting that this is literally the only video I have seen that shows Hoyt being faster. In fact I do believe the Hoyt is slower than bowtech as well according to podium archer MFJJ, y’all should do a collaboration video to dispute the speed difference you guys are having. See who is right and who is wrong

Great review, no need to prove anything, you shot them side by side at the same time.
Let them go test the speed themselves at their bow shop.

@@matthewkyle6939 mfjj is never close to anyone else on his speeds either. Who cares? Shoot what you like. 99.99% of people even talking can't shoot good enough to tell the difference.

@HaxenHunt yeah it's odd for sure lol. I think you should do a side by side of the bowtech Core SS and SR.

Dude you make Zero sense.. “when you shoot the Mathews by itself, it doesn’t float”. “When you shoot the Mathews with the Hoyt, the Mathews floats.” so is the Hoyt intimidating the Mathews bow and making it float? 🤷🏾
