    3:58 Rotating Barcode Tickets - Issues
    Mobile screenshot tickets are valid forms of ticket delivery, though it may feel a little off-putting when receiving them. It's essentially just a photo of a barcode or QR code which is scanned at the gate to let you in. Technically no different than scanning a barcode on a paper ticket...but it feels a bit more legitimate.
    What you can't take a screenshot of though are dynamic or moving barcodes. Sometimes there will be a small image moving across on the page, or the barcode itself will rotate. These tickets CANNOT be resold as screenshots as they will be denied at the gate. Don't do it. Just...no.

    As an old school type of seller I really do not like the move to mobile but that is what is being forced down everyones throat under the covid cover. IMO this is meant to cut into the secondary market. I do have to say that I recently worked the PGA and it was not that bad using the app however at many venues there will be a big problem when people cant get internet access. Most venues here in NY state are allowing screenshots however the Bills are not and use the rotating barcode it seems like it varies location by location. The move to mobile will force some old school street type of sellers out of the business while the ones who understand the process will thrive for now. Great video with informative content. Keep up the ticket tip Thursday.

      I think you’re right it’s meant to cut into the secondary market, but I think teams and promoters also enjoy getting the data that comes along with it. I’m sure they are able to track quite a bit in terms of how tickets move around and basically control the process as much as possible. It’ll be a sad day once hard stock tickets are gone though for good. Many venues have already moved to fully digital experiences, and like you said there are major issues still when accessing tickets at the gate when there’s not enough bandwidth. I remember the lines for U2 a few years back…madness

    Is it possible that a Ticket on my ticketmaster app doesn´t show any barcode? we´re still more than two months before the event..but I have tickets for another two venues around the same date, and the barcodes are there... It says "Artist Preasle" on the top of the screen on those tickets, not "Standard Ticket" like on the other two. Something to be worried about?? Is that normal?

    What's up my guy. How soon before an event should I expect my tickets to be sold? I'm holding tickets for an event that takes place on July 17th, so about a month out. I have them posted on Ticketmaster. Any response or information is greatly appreciated.

    • @thumbsuprun

      Depends on how aggressive you price your tickets in relation to similar seats in the venue/your section. You will see an uptick in sales as you approach the event date, but I wouldn’t want to hold until the very end as you likely won’t get as much money for it last minute. As long as your seats are not more expensive than seats in lower rows within your section/similar, then your tickets should sell relatively sooner than others

    Hey there!
    So I recently bought tickets on vivid seats which are listed as mobile e-tickets. They're just screenshots of mobile tickets with a PDF I assume they count as mobile screenshot tickets?
    I watched through your whole video but I was wondering if you had recommendations as where to sell them? I don't think they would work on vividseats based on your description since they only have physical or "PDF E-Tickets"
    Is my only option Ticketmaster or do you recommend any others? Also, is it a smart idea to post the ticket to multiple sites and then remove listings once they fail or no?
    Edit: So I made a StubHub account to take a look and now I'm extra confused. It looks like there's only three options: Paper Ticket, PDF Ticket, and Mobile Transfer. Does that mean it's just not possible?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Hello! So screenshot tickets can be sold if you have a mobile qr or mobile screenshot option. If Stubhub doesn’t offer you the ability to list this type, then you should try SeatGeek as they allow mobile screenshots. Ticketmaster wouldn’t let you sell them if you do not have them available directly within your Ticketmaster account. Vivid also won’t allow you to list the tickets since you don’t meet their specific listing requirements. Could also look at tickpick as another option as well

      @@thumbsuprun great! I'll take a look at those and update you!
      Did you have any thoughts/expertise on posting to multiple sites at once?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Generally i tell people to avoid it unless you have the ability to watch your listings very closely. You can run into problems if you have a double sale but it can be managed for the most part if you’re careful

    It's me again 😆 So I was able to list my tickets on both Stubhub and Vivid. I have tickets from Ticketmaster that are the "SafeTIx" with the moving barcode. I'm hoping if they sell then can just use the transfer option and be good with sending them(or at least hope so)! I can't though create a listing for SeatGeek as it ask for the pdf file to be uploaded and I don't have an option to do so. Is there a way to up list these Ticketmaster "SafeTix" to SeatGeek?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +3

      The only way to get them listed up on SeatGeek would be if they allow you to list mobile transfer or mobile delivery ticket types. If they need a pdf ticket then you wouldn’t be able to deliver those ticket types unfortunately :(

    how would you sell a ticket with a rotating barcode in a site like seat geek where they require either screenshots or a pdf?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately you will be unable to list and sell rotating barcode tickets on SeatGeek as a normal seller (unless they are NFL tickets - then you just need the barcode information). SeatGeek doesn’t support uploading of rotating barcode seats so it wouldn’t be possible to list and sell them. You would need to list and sell tickets on sites that support mobile transfer options only 😫

    Can I sell tickets that I have on my phone in mobile pdf version to someone in person( they would just screenshot it) or would this not work?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      The best way would be to transfer them through Ticketmaster, but if that option isn’t available, then you can sell and send them a screenshot of the ticket from your Apple wallet/etc. however, this only works for barcodes that are static (just a QR code). If there is a moving blue line on it or the barcode is rotating, you cannot take a screenshot as the ticket will not work when scanned

    How do we photo the barcodes to list hard physical ticket to ticket master wasnt there an app allowed it I had the app completely forgot it was it flash seats if so are they bought out

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      If you have hard stock tickets that you purchased from somewhere other than Ticketmaster, then you won’t be able to list the tickets on Ticketmaster directly anymore as it needs to be connected to your account. Flash seats and AXS let you input barcodes from your hard stock tickets to barcode integrated events on Stubhub which could work. Otherwise though, you could look into something like ticketfire to convert hard stock into mobile screenshot tickets (but this isn’t a guaranteed solution since venues can reject them)

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  Год назад +1

      Are you asking as an event organizer or as a ticket reseller? From the venue perspective, they will have barcode scanners that are tied to a seating manifest on the backend, and they’ll scan the barcode off the phone of the user to let them in. Ticketmaster has software and hardware specifically designed to scan user barcodes at the gate to make sure they are not duplicated tickets or have been scanned multiple times when letting people enter the venue

      @@thumbsuprun talking about as a event organizer and what if my concert at a park instead of venue then how scanning works

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  Год назад

      As long as you’re using a TM powered solution, you should still be issued a seating manifest from them that your scanners should be able to check against. Your simple solution depending on the size of your venue though may be sell tickets just as PDF rickets and use something like eventbrite instead. Makes things a lot easier

      I do believe Ticketmaster offers a solution but it won’t be part of the Ticketmaster standard app. You could contact Ticketmaster to confirm how they offer this solution, or you can code your own using the Ticketmaster API

      It’s standard practice for some teams as not all of them use rotating barcodes. You shouldn’t have any issues using them at the gate 😊

    Rather than upload a PDF screenshot of the QR code why wouldn't you just do an iwallet transfer? What are the pros and cons of this?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Not every single event allows a direct mobile wallet transfer from the primary, so it just makes things a bit simpler and the format will port over to the majority of phones out there. If you are able to share the ticket with family and friends directly from your wallet, no harm in that at all. However, should the recipient have an issue with the mobile format that you’re trying to send them (incompatible phone or other reason), then you could be in trouble. Using a standard PDF format will alleviate some of these issues since it can be accessible from more devices regardless of the make and model

      For barcodes that are not dynamic/rotating, this is a very standard option for getting them posted. No different than a PDF printout
