Robert, Thanks for this quick but very informative tutorial. It was very good and your comments are extremely helpful. I am painting the demonstration and adding a cowboy on horse over to the side overlooking the cattle.
    Thanks a lot!

The biggest takeaway here and something I’ve learned is “you’ve got to be prepared to change the plan”. Just the other day I was aiming to do a little trees and landscape and I ended up with a Mexican villa but with some trees at least.
I do find it interesting to watch others paint and make it look so easy while understanding that watercolour doesn’t lend itself well to copying. The choices of paper, paint, brushes amount of water… they all play their individual roles in such a way that everyone will have a different result.
It’s just great to be able to absorb these demonstrations and learn some tidbit to add to my repertoire.
Love the moon dab. Done that myself when the tone of the scene needed some perk. Fixing a waylaid drop of water, priceless.

Thank you for these tips. I find these textures particularly successful, giving a very artistic abstraction to the watercolor.

I love the way the texture in the middle ground came out. I’m going to go back and watch again how that happened so I can try it.

Wow, talk about less is more. Can't believe you got this end result from what were just a few fairly basic techniques. Can't wait to have a go. Funny how the little touch with the cattle at the end kind of set it off. Don't know why but Edward Wesson came to mind the second I saw the painting. You have a new subscriber here for sure. Thanks so much.

Hi Robert, I can't tell you how much I loved watching that. You're very confident. The thing that impresses me most is your colour choices. They're simple but very evocative. Would you mind telling me what red you used for the sky? I wondered if it was perylene maroon?

    • @RobertMeeArtist

It would of been Alizarin Crimson, mixed with other pigments. Most probably just some left over paint on the palette. Thanks for watching.

Fun colour choice which worked. I thought the cows would read too strong (dark) esp the more distant ones... but it all fell into place. Even the splodge settled into a moon. Hmm something fishy going on here mate, I reckon! (Love your stuff)
