  • There must be at least one every year: that trip to the local plains back roads, looking for one of Colorado's most stunning reptiles. On this particular day, not only did we find them...but they were also by far the most abundant reptiles to be found, setting a new personal record.

Looked like a perfect day for milking, obviously so. Nice finds.

It was perfect...until right at the end there when the storm front dropped temps from 70's to about 40. Glad I'd covered the areas I'd intended to before that rain came in.

@@carltoncarnivores We found that those cloudy warm days with a threat of rain in the distance were the best for milks.

nicely done! is that public or private land? did you put down that board trail? I live in Colorado springs and there is so little to flip when I go east. I guess i need to lay some boards down.

I don't give details about location; only thing I'll say is that most of what I flip has been out on the plains for a very, very long time.
But if you live in the Springs, there's little reason to go east to find milks. And the foothills have plenty of rocks and logs to flip.

@@carltoncarnivores ....thanks for the tip....I have been herping the northeast and florida since 1965! but since moving here all I usually see are garter snakes and prairie rattlers...I dont collect...I have a small collection of CBB GTPS....love your videos..keep them coming!

Herping out here is an entirely different field from herping in the humid east; night hiking or cruising while it's still warm is going to be one of the primary ways you see anything, particularly after a midday storm (or, hiking in early morning), and flipping is only really viable either on a cool day after rains or during spring/fall. But there is a lot more variety even just that much further south than where I live, just have to tune your searching to match the habits of the species.

@@carltoncarnivores thanks for the tip...I herped in east kansas and it was great. so much to flip. but around the Springs here it seems there are few rocks and those that are present are half buried in the ground and dont flip and have no room for anything under them,,,,,I have to do more exploring but the fly fishing is so great here I have gotten lazy about herping...in the meanwhile I get to enjoy your videos! keep them coming!
