- What is the formula for the perfect Australian Burnout car? While out at @BURNOUTWARS Atlantic City, I got with a few of our Aussie friends to figure out what parts work best for building a proper skid car.
It seems they have the recipe down after 30 plus years of ripping the gnarliest skids on the planet.
Seems like a pretty straight forward formula: Blown V8 on Methanol, turbo 400, ford 9in with 3.00 gears and a locker...oh yeah, and a driver who can actually wheel the thing!

I love burnout cars, they’re just built to party. Drift missiles are the budget version! Rad that they’re built to hit the limiter for 30-60 seconds at a shot. Drag cars don’t do that. These things aren’t loaded hard, but 1200hp at 8k for a full minute is legit no matter how you look at it.
Love all these builds, especially the VF Ute and wag, but that Stato is the soft spot of my heart. Love it.
Zach, you should come to Indy on 8/31 and hang out with a bunch of Holden enthusiasts if you aren’t busy. 😄

You want the front as heavy as possible and the rear light. That way the front plants itself when you turn and the rear swings. Big top small booty!!!
Incorrect. Need weight over the rear tyres to create grip and smoke. Some guys here in Australia put concrete in the boot to achieve this.
Its a balance, if the rear is too light it won't make any smoke. If it's too heavy in the rear, the car will tipin like a boat.

These guys got robbed at Burnout Wars
Unfortunately and surprisingly to all of us, they had some problems and did not perform near their best - that tarmac was super unpredictable. We had Kyle Douglas and Westin Champlain judging the event and they were extremely fair.

I appreciate the insight and you're right. Luckily Ive been wrenching non stop and have 4 episodes ready to come out on the k5. Then I'm moving on to the bikes and back to finish up Waylon. so its gonna be mostly build content for the next few months
If you are not running on methanol, then you will need a good cooling system to survive 90 seconds on the limiter 🤘🛻💭
