Always buy an unlocked phone. It's cheaper in the long run. These carrier deals are all about locking you in and getting you on their most expensive plans. So you end up paying more in the end for these quote "deals". Plus by getting an unlocked model, you don't have to deal with carrier bloatware pre-installed to the device that takes up storage space and resources. Not all of it can be uninstalled. I'm talking about Android phones in particular for the bloated ware part.

well, another thing to keep in my with this kind of things is the coverage and service from other providers, which varies a lot from location to location. in some parts verizon will work better and faster than t-mobile or att. and it goes the other way around as well. other thing, you don't want to be subjected to terms and conditions? buy it from apple unlocked, but it will cost you the 1k + dollars. I do get verizon plans are expensive, but sometimes they will work better in certain locations than other or include certain things or perks that might be helpful or enticing to some customers. I really don't get the entitlement of some folks wanting a free or discounted phone but not willing to accept the requirements that come with that discount or financing. and in regards with the tax? hey, taxes are taxes and depend a lot on your state. there's no way to avoid paying sales taxes, no matter the promotion.

  • @DannyYankou

One thing to keep in mind though is if you have autopay turned on, that saves $10/month. That's $360 over 3 years. And Visible doesn't have discounts for students or seniors. I'm actually saving $30/month on Verizon because I have autopay turned on, I'm using a student discount, and a $10/month bring your own device promotion over 36 months.

I always kinda made fun of a few friends who would buy used/refurbished smart phones for pennies on the dollar compared to the new phones and then use them on inexpensive prepaid plans. Well in the long run, they only pay a couple hundred dollars when a "free" new phone with u limited on a carrier's(AT&T or Verizon) normal plan you pay thousands.
When we were switching to that route they tried a scare tactic we us saying, "Well if you go that route sure you save all that money, but you won't get priority access to the tower to voice call if there is a natural disaster.!"
I thought, ummm if a natural disaster hits most all service loses priority except emergency personnel. If a disaster hits, texting is way better than a phone call, because it only needs the bare minimum signal to go through and keep trying until it gets it.....🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The biggest reason why people finance with the carriers is because they make it easy to get approved. Visible you have to pay in full or use affirm. Bad credit is usually looked at a different view with att, verizon and tmobile. It would be nice if prepaid carriers would help with financing for people with low credit.

Verizon might be a good deal for someone on a fixed income with food stamps since the food stamp office considers a phone bill a utility. As a result a $100 phone bill reported to the food stamp office will result in a $100 increase in food stamps which is beneficial since the elderly will not have to chose between their phone bill and food.

Yeah my Att bill was the same as what I’ll be paying Verizon a year from now. I’ve been with ATT for 15+ years and they would not offer me any money off new phones.
Visible Base and T-Mobile does not have service here. A friend of mine tried Visible base and another friends had T-Mobile a year or two ago and they rarely had service. So our only options were ATT or Verizon.

Verizon phones are already unlocked Verizon doesn’t follow the 60 days rules for unlocking there phones

That's false. Verizon makes you wait 60 days before they'll unlock the phone even on postpaid in my experience.

I don’t understand how so many people misunderstand something so simple. Verizon phones are locked even if you pay it off for 60 days. AFTER 60 days IF you pay off the phone in full, THEN you can have it unlocked. It must be paid off in full AND at least 60 days have passed.

Again this generic channel that simply reads info anyone could read for themselves never talks about what really matters . what you're giving up service and quality wise for the cheaper deals . Reception, customer service , reliability . Anyone could compare deals on the various websites .
