  • This video provides some basic tips on stringing soft strings, synthetic guts, multifilament, and natural gut. When stringing soft strings you should use the Diablo on your machine to decrease the amount of pressure the gripper plates put on the string when pulling tension. You should also with all strings, but with soft strings especially release the base of your clamp prior to releasing the clamp its self from the string. This will allow for any recoil the string may have to move out prior to opening the clamp decreasing the chances of string movement between the teeth of the clamp.

Thanks! I get terrible ghosting with multifilament ( especially Addixion) on every clamping...it doesn't seem right.
Is there a way to minimize?

In my experience Addixion is so soft that avoiding ghosting all together is almost of impossible. Your best bet to avoid ghosting is to make sure you're using a diablo if your machine has one, make sure the gripper plates aren't overly tightened (most can be adjusted with a set screw), and make sure your clamps are clean and tightened properly. You can test your clamps on the ends of the string to make sure they adjusted properly.
