    I agree with you that much diet advice is ridiculous, the biggest problem is sugar, carbs and portion size at our age especially. I also have to make sure I get enough fresh water everyday to avoid problems. So many things are just different as we get older. I’ve been experimenting for the past few months with incorporating fermented foods daily and wow. I use flax and good vitamins everyday. But, like you I will eat for pleasure because it’s okay now and then.

      Yes, I'm drinking plenty of pure water, not too much, but plenty, and keep my portion sizes small. I use a small plate instead of the regular big ones which really does work for me. I've been eating Kimchi for a fermented food because I love it. I too take a multivitamin and vitamin d3 because I'm not a sun worshiper at all. I don't want to get skin cancer or tons of dark marks on my skin. And yes, we have to treat ourselves now and then or losing weight for me would be impossible. Glad you're here with us! 😊

    Hi Nigella! You look fabulous, what ever you are doing it must be working! I too don’t exercise but I am very active and very busy. I love your video on making bacon eggs and gluten free toast with a side of fresh fruit Yum! I live on a non inflammatory diet-I choose healthy eggs bacon and bread and organic frozen or fresh berries! So true! Diet is the key! 😉

      Hi there! Thank you for the compliment, do the best I can for my age. LOL! Yes, our diet is a HUGE part of our health. I just saw a show on tv that said doctors are taught only about 10% of their training to be about nutrition. That is WRONG! As my homeopath doc once told me, your food can be your medicine or your poison, it's up to you. And she is right. More and more info is coming out about how food affects our health and weight. Glad you joined us in the conversation. 😊

    Thank you for putting this information out. My mom was only 5' tall and 100 lbs most of her life. No exercise but EXTREMELY busy single mother. As soon as she retired at 68, her life finally slowed down. That was so wonderful for her. She deserved a break. But, she started snacking more, baking more. She gained about 20 lbs. Sadly, she got uterine cancer. She lived another 1-1/2 years to age 70. Her doctor told her it was the quick weight gain that triggered the cancer. She said she really regretted getting into the habit of snacking on cookies. Definitely, we don't need as much food as we age, and we have to eat more protein and veggies. Might as well go low-carb.🇨🇦♥️

      I'm so sorry about your mom :( Yes, it's so easy to just start snacking all the time. It does take self control. I now see how different I feel when I don't eat healthier and it's not worth it. Sure I'll have treats now and then but not part of my daily diet. I just feel better when I eat meat, veggies, fish, fruit and nuts and drink WATER! Thank you for sharing. 😊

    I agree with every word you say . I am 62 and 117 pounds . When I went on a cruise it blew my mind to see so many obese people digging their graves with a fork 😢. All my life I watch my weight . I am on a mission to loose 2 more pounds as I am 5.3 . I totally agree that exercise is good for feeling better ( like walking ) but nothing to do with losing weight .

      Yes, things totally change when we're older. I NEVER had to worry about my weight until my 30's. I was always very thin naturally, not now! I have to be very careful. Good for you keeping your weight down. It's better for the body in every way. Being over weight really affects the body in SO many ways that people don't even think of. Have a wonderful day! 😊

    I am 70 and same height as you. I lost weight starting in 2021 by doing Intermittent fasting. I got down to 125 but now it’s creeping up again (I’m at 133 now) and am feeling uncomfortable around my mid section so I need to eat less (starch) and lose 8 pounds. VERY difficult to do at our age. It’s hard not feeling deprived. The holidays are just around the corner. Yikes.

      @nigella4me  4 дня назад +1

      OMG, yes, those holidays!! HELLLLLLLLLP! LOL! I guess I basically do intermittent fasting because I can't eat until around 11 or noon each day. I just have to watch those calories now, AND the sugar and carbs. I have VOWED I will NOT gain weight this holiday. I will enjoy the holiday goodies, but in moderation. It just isn't worth it to have to lose that weight. Be strong so you don't get down and out from gaining weight!!! 😊

      I could only eat bread and tomatos allll day long😂

    • @nigella4me
      @nigella4me  4 дня назад +1

      Oh, bread is SO hard to resist. Luckily I can't eat gluten so I can't eat regular breads. The gluten free breads are good, but not NEAR as good as regular breads and they're still high carb. I could literally eat regular hot French bread soaked with butter every day of my life. I occasionally will take a GlutenEase pill to enjoy real bread, but that's once in a blue moon because I get other side effects besides digestive problems from gluten. 😊

    That's exactly what I do first thing in the morning before a Cup of Tea I weigh myself on my digital scales in the nude. I also eat like you very low sugar and carbohydrates, eating a lot of fruit, vegetables, fish, chicken, eggs and I don't deprive myself from treats. My weight is normally stabilised but, if I should put on 2 to 3 kilos I re adjust my diet to get back on track as I don't want to look like a Telly Tubby as I'm 5ft 3in" Yes it's all about nutrition in our older years. Also I'm a fairly slow eater. I don't rush anything. In my younger years I was like a bull at a gate. I want to save my heart beats to live till Im 95.😂😂😂😂

    • @nigella4me
      @nigella4me  4 дня назад

      Telly Tubby, LOL!!!!!Yes, that's the way to eat. Those carbs and sugar put on pounds FAST! Once I get down to the weight I want, I'm going to do the same, weigh myself each morning, or at least every other morning. Then, if I've gone up a pound, I'm taking it off immediately. It's just too hard to lose weight at an older age. I really need to work on eating slower. I think I'm still in the frame of mind from raising 5 kids to eat fast. You know, eat the food while it's warm before "stuff" starts with the kids. LOL! But I'm working on it. Thanks for being here! 😊

You've suffered some terrible blows in life but what a warrior you are with your positive fight on spirit😊 Yes I've been a Telly Tubby over the years🤣🤣🤣 that's why I take action straight away if I've been over indulging in the sugar department. ❤❤❤
