I have Dune and have not gotten it to the table yet. Part of the reason is that I was under the impression I needed to have a 6-player game to really get the full experience. For this to be your #1 game for 5 players, you must really think the 5-player game is as good or better than the 6-player setup. I was waiting for you to comment on how this plays without the 6th faction, but you never mentioned it.
You can totally enjoy Dune at 5 players! Even 4 would be good but honestly even though the box says 2-6 I wouldn’t play less then 4. It’s not the same without the alliances and betrayals plus the factions get a chance to shine more this way. We play without the Bene Gessiret faction and everyone has a blast, the factions feel balanced and it’s always a close game.
Cosmic encounter for me is 1 ❤ negotiation games in general are great at 5p like chinatown, zoo vadis and bohnanza. Good list mate!

I may have the opportunity to run a 5 player game in November for thanksgiving. So family, multi age. I’m thinking Quacks.
Good choice! Never played it myself but heard it’s a great lightweight experience!
