Fun (maybe) facts:
1. If I remember right, Karl Franz actually needs to pay the Imperial Dragon to ride him in battle, which is hilarious. It also resents the indignity of being displayed.
2. The Stirland Abomination is very much real: it's technically supposed to be a great whooly beast with horns, but unsurprisingly, nobody is willing to double check it isn't actually just some guy from Stirland. And yes, the Chaos Spawn is actually there too, though probably not the same enclosure.
3. The creatures of the Imperial Zoo are usually retrieved by adventurers, so funnily enough, it's also the only place you're likely to see a Norscan, an elf, a dwarf, a Brettonian, and an Imperial all hanging around, which is probably more interesting than most of the creatures in it.
That last point tho. The brawl that happen when all of them meet must be more entertaining than the whole zoo itself.

@@arya31ful I like to think a brawl cage exists somewhere near the centre of the zoo just so that visitors get to see the awesome fisticuffs that happen everyonce in a while.

Pretty sure the imperial dragon just sticks around for the free food and amusement of scaring tourists. After all shy of calling in the supreme patriarch and most of the staff of the college of magic there is precisely diddly dick nothing the zoo can do to keep a dragon in the zoo if it doesn’t want to stay.

The reason Altdorf is not a dark fortress in WH3 is canonically because that Stirlander remains inside the zoo post-capture. Not even chaos wants anything to do with that
It is a known fact that chaos gods saw him and since then you need to pass a test to prove that you are not from Stirland

Imagine Karl flexing on the cathayans by inviting Miao and Zhao to visit his zoo, only for them to be appalled upon seeing the Imperial Dragon.
Only for him to tell not to reveal his grift. The guy literally gets paid to be looked at and lives in peaceful finery. He's like a cat in egypt. It's his world, we're just living in it and bringing him food.

1º note: Visitors of the zoo are adviced to wear a rain coat and even heavier protective gear, cause this stirlander can shoot beans out of its hands.
2ºnote: be careful while showing the zoo to dwarfs to they dont have a heavy attack of ptsd when reaching the stirlander exhibit

At 3:20 I was like "hellpit abomination? A really bad tempered lord?" , but then I realised the real abominations of the old world geography series: the stirlander.
I want you to imagine, if you will.
Suppose you had an absolutely starving vampire, that approached a Stirlander to eat them.
Obviously, the vampire couldn't survive this process and would die. However, the Stirlander would survive, and would have all of the materials it needs to become the most feared creature in all realities.

When Karl decided to ride a dragon, the dragon reluctantly obliged, but after Karl mounted him, the dragon said "Oh fuck, I can't believe you've done this."
I can't wait für a mod that adds this as a land mark to get imperial dragons as mounts
I think there is one out there, no Mount, but gives a recruit-able dragon. One of those landmarks of legends packs.

Yeah, but the Dragon does not care at all. After the Old Ones moved the world closer to the sun, Dragons are constantly uncomfortably hot all the time and all they want to do is sleep all day. So when he wakes up he just gets food and goes back to sleep.

The dragon that Karl Franz rides is actually a Moon Dragon, not a Sun Dragon. The stats in the high elf codex says so.
I mean, Imperial Dragon had the exact same stats as any other Dragon basically. It was just the High Elves that had 3 different types - the bitch dragon, the normal dragon and the chad dragon.

a common misconception my good fellow, norscans themselves aren't kept around the zoo to be shown off, they're there to feed the animals, particularly the kislivite ice bears, where they alone consume at least 300 norscans in a day, because of this, bretonnia enjoys a lucrative trade with the empire as they raid and plunder norsca for the locals, to then sell to the empire.

Vamps tend to be the only ones that take stirland in my games. I imagine undead don't need to eat, so the horrors of stirland food don't even phase them. TBF, crypt ghouls literally eat corpses, so...

It doesn't have special properties like land mark. Check the building browser and look at the name, you will see

The Imperial Zoo had a decline in visitors because they were used to seeing the beasts there and were bored of even seeing the Chimera. It wasn't until Marius Leitdorf donated a Jabberslythe to the facility that people started to flock to it. This caused the zoo to euthanize the Jabberslythe because anybody who came to look at it developed permeant insanity. Oddly enough Marius was said to be much more calm and reasonable after he had contact with the Jabberslythe.
I was hoping for screaming mannfred but the Stirlander is still good.

Encountered a Stirlander in the wild one day, yes I did. Bastard tried to boil my beer. Shot him right between the eyes with my trusty mortar on a wagon from the Nuln school of Mortars on a Wagon. Thing was so stupid it didn't even know it was dead! It eventually wandered off into the woods, probably trying to find a cousin to marry or a fish head pie to eat.
The funny thing is that in the Actual Lore they have a Snotling exhibit.
That Stirlander must have ate all the Norscans in the primate exhibit
