IMO it all depends what you are planing to do. Many expat are there for nightlife so for them Nana and Asok area places to be in. I would agree with Sky Train argument but the problem is after midnight you can not use it so only option to come back to your apartment is taxi which may be expensive if you party daily or 3-4 days a week.
Absolutely agree mate. If the priority is to party several times a week then def better to be in the middle of it all. The further you move out the more relaxed life becomes, until eventually you become a rice farmer
What would be the non-obvious advantages of Bangkok over Hua Hin or the like? I'm afraid too much noise disturbance would be an issue in Bangkok for someone just looking for stable internet to work from home.
Bangkok is a great city and there are plenty of places to work, but if you’re looking for a more peaceful life go to somewhere like Hua Hin etc first. I like Bangkok as a base for traveling the rest of Thailand but I’m looking into more peaceful options myself lately tbh
Absolutely mate. Up to Udom Suk/Bang Na there are plenty of English speakers around. It’s does get a little bit more scarce once you go beyond that. Of the places I spoke about I think On Nut would be best if you’re looking for a good expat community
everybody who get girlfriends wanna move away from the center and speak down on the center lmao its because u have a wife bro , the center is better for us single men , i've lived on outskirts like udom suk , and bts bearing , its boring , its cheap food good , but boring ecspecially if u dont speak thai , i would suggest center for single ppl and outskirts for couples and families
Yeah I think your summary is right. Middle is better for single people. Further out for families. I wasn’t speaking down on it. Just saying you can get more for your money elsewhere. It just depends what is important to you at the time you’re moving
Lived in a 3 bedroom duplex in Soi 10, on a bike was easy to go down sukhumvit, never used the BTS cause it was expensive, slow, and hot. Had my wife and my girlfriend living with me it was 50,000 baht a month 200sqm, girls i knew would come by for a quicky before they started work in Nana. was great, be a bit more expensive now, but everything was there can walk to the big ass park in 3min, you can get on the freeway in 5minutes from there I dunno mate, udom suk is boring and takes ages to get places.
It sounds like you were living the dream mate and in that case I’m happy for you. My lifestyle is a bit different but as I said, no disrespect to people who like those areas.
i totally agree. stayed in punnawhiti once last year and it was affordable and super quiet. condo was great with all facilities
Punnawhiti is a great spot. We’re in BangChak right now but we love taking our daughter up to True Digital to enjoy that walking track

Hopefully you will showcase some of the under-appreciated apartments. There is a void on youtube, as you said.
Will try to in the next few months. Cheers

What about English-speaking expats? Do these people live outside of the popular places? That would be important to me.
