    I wanted to say thank you so much for all the videos you have made and posted.I had failed my test back in August and just took the exam yesterday 10/02/2023 and passed. I love that you go into detail with every video of what to do and not to do. Again thank you. Your videos are the best.

    This is an EXCELLENT video. Thank you for pointing out that my hands need to touch the bed as I support the wrist & the elbow. I didn't know. I did not take the classes prior, so I was a test out canidate (it conflicted too much with my job, and the CNA is required for nursing school). I couldn't have done it without you.     I am 49 and am working my way toward my RN. My CNA state test in Wisconsin is Monday! I am watching your videos all weekend. I also work on an ambulance but this is a whole different thing. Thanks for what you do.

    For the test are we only doing one hip, knee ankle and one elbow and wrist, one shoulder. Or are we doing other parts of the body?

    I have a question, couldn't we raise the bed to ensure we are using proper body mechanics while performing these exercise?

      Hi, Christina! Yes, you may. But, if you are testing under Pearson Vue, body mechanics is not scored.

    For the critical steps do i have to say them aloud while doing them, or it's ok just doing them without saying what I'm doing.

      Hi, Andrea! Whether the step is critical or not, you should always verbalize what you are going to do before you do it. Remember, communication is one of the 5 Indirect Care Skills that are also evaluated!

    With Pearson Vue is PROM only on shoulder? The elbow,wrist, is not tested?

    Could we raise the head of the bed in case the resident’s arm hits the headboard? (Our beds are different in my classroom)

      Hi, Grace! No. When performing PROM, the resident has to be in supine position. Either have the person scootch down in the bed or remove the headboard.

      Hi, Jessica! Yes. You may raise the level of the bed if necessary. Just remember to place it back in a low, safe position before moving away from the bedside.

    I have a question..Don't you need to raise the bed to your level?

      Only if you would like to do so. Body Mechanics is not scorable during testing. I encourage nurse aide candidates not to do so unless absolutely necessary (if the candidate is very tall), because he/she might forget to lower the level of the bed before they walk away. This would cause them to get tagged for "safety".

    What if your examiner helps you before you were able to self correct? Does that count against you if you corrected after examiner mentioned anything?

      Hi, I.M.! Yes, it does. If the Examiner makes the correction, you will not receive credit for the step.
      The only time they will make a correction is when it involves "safety".

      Hi, Crystaldarlingg! Those exercises are not required to be performed during testing. For this testable skill, flexion & extension and abduction & adduction are the only exercises the candidate is required to perform.

    Hi Ms.Julie is it normal to have to evaluators for the skills portion? I took both portions of the exam today and I pray that I smashed that exam

      Hi, Amber! First, I know you SMASHED that CNA exam!!!
      And, yes, the Evaluator has to be present to observe and evaluate your performance. The NAE is also present during the written portion of the exam to monitor the test takers.

    What if when you're doing range of motion their arms can't go as far as their ear? Whay do I do?

      Hi, Horn Man! If this occurs, you will need to inform the Evaluator. He or she will either check for themselves and/or will have you perform this skill on the opposite arm.
      If the Evaluator determines that either arm is unable to reach the level of the person's ear, he or she will stop your time, and will call on another testing candidate for you to perform this skill on

      Hi, Kaylee! Really? You must not be watching my updated "2019" videos. If you watched an earlier released video, it wasn't that I performed the skill "wrong", it was performed according to the guidelines at that time.
      I have since created and uploaded a new hand hygiene video in accordance with the NNAAP 2018 Skills Updates.

      Because the CNA test defies all logic that is tied to reality. It's ridiculous really. We're taught unnecessary crap in order to pass the test. You fail if you don't do one simple thing like give the call light when in reality I've seen CNA's that don't do a single thing that these videos tell you to do. It's all for the "test."
