Everybody: I'm gonna learn numbers, then fruits, then..
Duolingo: The baby's cookie is a vegetable
Duolingo sentences are braindead but funny .
I have a hard time remembering vocabulary. It's been a year and half of studying and I feel that my learning is real slow
It always takes more time than you think but you can try switching up the materials you are learning to speed up your learning process : )
What materials would help?
We are the same can't relate too
One day I was having a conversation lesson with my teacher and talking about the books I have. I showed her the TTMIK books I have on Kindle. She suggested we go through three of the books together and that's how we got started. I meet with her 5 days a week. Each day we start with about 5 minutes of free talking then we go to the 500 words book and do a chapter. Then we switch to the 1100 phrases book and do two grammar forms. Finally we do one chapter in the beginner conversations book. Since my lessons are early in the morning, later in the day I review and write the vocabulary from the 500 words book in a notebook. The next lesson begins with free speaking and my teacher (who keeps a notebook of what words I don't know... or can't easily recall) and she either uses them in her speech or asks me things that would prompt me to use the new word. For words that are really useful in daily conversation, she'll bring them up again a day or two later... or even a week later. The words that are most meaningful to me tend to be remembered better. Also, I can ask her how two similar words are used and how to differentiate when to use each, so I'm learning those words in context.
Thank you to the TTMIK team (and my iTalki conversation teacher) for helping me expand my vocabulary in the most natural way.
Recently learned word - 모양 (shape)
이 모양은 네모예요. This shape is a square.
I use TTMIK books with my teacher too. They’re a great resource
Thanks! Really very interesting ! I always learn a lot with your classes!!!!! Step by step!!!!! Congratulations for you all !!!!! 🇧🇷🥰👵👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜💜💜
Thanks for sharing your process. Something I'm going to consider with my Korean teacher.
@@ShaiBoston I hope it works for you. If it feels like too much new vocabulary too fast, you can adjust your schedule
I recently learned the word 성공하다 (to succeed).
Here's a sample sentence everyone can use: 한국어 공부에 성공하고 싶어요!
i want to study korean successfully is the meaning i think am i right?
@@aabedanoori9891 I want to succeed in studying Korean.
좋아요!!
why theres the 에 after study?
@@matilde9225 From chatgpt:
- "공부" means "study" or "learning."
- "에" is a postposition that indicates location or direction. In this context, it indicates the location or sphere in which the action of studying takes place.
So, "공부에" together means "in studying" or "in the process of learning." In the sentence, it specifies the context or sphere in which the desire to succeed is focused, which is studying Korean.
I'm at level 3 of TTMIK and I use my first 500 hundred words, the best way to remember words for me is to pair the learning in books with watching dramas or youtube videos, shows.. Because like this, when I hear the words I've just learned and my brain is like "wow I know this word!!" and it gives context too so it really works well for me :)
Another tip, learning 한자 makes remembering 고급의 어휘 a lot easier
맞아요!!
맞아요!!
I recently learned the phrase 큰 소리로 읽어 보세요, which means “please try reading (it) out loud”. I learned it from the TTMIK book “Easy Korean Reading for Beginners”.
You're a great teacher! 선생님 감사합니다
New expression ive learned is "아 , 그렇구나!".
I usually use this word alot in my native language so it will be useful for me in my korean as well.😅
I spent years learning Chinese, but it helps me remember Korean a lot of words! ❤😊
A word I learnt today is 달려가다 (dash, run, rush) eg. 갑자기 개가 내 차 앞으로 달려갔어요 (suddenly the dog ran in front of my car). I find it easier to remember new words if I can see link to a word I already know (even if the link only makes sense to me) I remember 문화 (culture) because of 무궁화 (Korean Rose - the national flower). I can see how sentences will be another great tool.
Yeah! Linking words to culture is very useful.
As for the sentence you wrote, you can also use the word 달려들다 (to run toward oneself).
달려갔어요 sounds like the dog ran toward something that's far away from you : ) So you can say 갑자기 달려들었어요.
I've been learning a lot from TTMIK recently, but one term that immediately stuck was -밖에 없는, because I heard many examples of it in the dramas I've been watching.
너 내 하나밖에 없는 친구야!
I learned 저는 소피 입니다 and just as you are suggesting, I found it really useful to tweak the sentence and switch 소피 with my actual name. Before that, all the people that I met, thought I was a guy named Sophie.
Thank you for this! I think this is exactly what I need to start doing.
Today I learn the word is 만들다 to make
And simple sentence is 오늘 저는 김치 만들거에요! 그리고 이거 맛있어요💜😊🤭
Excellent advice. I vouch for this method as it makes a lot of difference to my own learning and progress.
Wow this is very usefull
이 방법들을 한번 해볼께요, 갑사합니다~~
I speak Ukrainian but learn and English and Korean in this lesson, loved your video)
you're best teachers I have ever seen 😻 love you you help me alot for learning Korea 감사합니다 선생님💜..
I study pedagogy and I'm going to be an english teacher. I usually use this method with my learners and also with myself while studying korean. I'm glad you're talking about it because it's truly very effective. ❤
I have started learning Korean 4 years ago and last autumn I passed TOPIK exam with 3급. I don't happy with this result. I think one of my problem is lack of diffucult high level words. And I will do my best for solve the problem. Thank you very much for usefull content through all this years
I've been studying korean for about 1 year and a half, but vocabulary is still the hardest part for me 😢
It’s a catch 22 but learning new vocabulary in a language you’re conversational in (intermediate) is so much easier because you can legit think of ways to use it. My Korean level is still beginner so when I try to imagine situations to use it it’s just not realistic and my brain knows that and seems to forget it quickly. Solution: move to Korea for a while to learn the language.
Thankyou
Loved your video ! 😍😍
In the same idea, a teacher told me that I could write a small journal in Korean, with mostly word I knew/recently learned and if needed new words that I would search in a dictionary, to really help me use those words in a context that was both personal and useful
Doesn't have to be long, 2-5 sentences a day can be enough in the beginning !
Yes! Keeping a journal is very helpful!
for higher level vocab, I highly recommend the book TOPIK in 30 Days Advanced Vocabulary! It has been an incredible resource to help me get past my plateau. They are mostly fairly uncommon words that you might only hear in books or news, and I can learn every single one by speaking alone with the sample sentence for each word. The audio recordings were a bit hard to find online due to a faulty link written om the book, but once I found the actual link it was great ^^ I just listen to the sentence recordings while im going for a walk and the meanings will often pop right back into my head. Basically, the advice offered in this video really is the best advice there is!
I learnt 자꾸,추가,결국,우선,설명😊
So great tips! I am at Sogang now with lots of new vocabulary! 🎉
I'm going to sogang in the fall! What level are you doing? :) And do you have any tips on accomodation?
@@Binna-tj6ck right now level 2! Hmm well airbnb or apartment like i have but I gave a deposit
Thank you for the lovely video! I learned the word 당장 (immediately, right now) yesterday. Here's a sentence I wrote using it: 저는 진짜 배고파서 당장 식사를 해요.
당장 is a fun word to use! :D
안녕하세요, because I am free today, I thought about my business plans the next few days. And I decided to make a sentence for this day. 오늘은 약속이 없어서 지금 휴식을 취할 거예요 ㅋㅋㅋ😊
Since I am learning purely for fun, my learning is unstructured. My favorite way to learn new vocabulary, is listening to favorite songs. Some words get “stuck in my head “ then I look it up and usually remember the definition since it is already a part of a song I like. I used the same method when I learned English. What I should really focus on is learning sentence structure and grammar, then I can easily understand when words are conjugated 😊
Yeah and then sometimes you see a word but don't know the definition immediately but you remember it from a song so you do hear it in your head and then you just think back and you do know it after all! Such a good way to remember vocab :)
initially I used 계산하다 for "to pay", but today I learned another vocabulary 결제하다, which also means "to pay", it seems the same but yet that's a little difference
Yeah, the two words can mean the same thing in certain contexts : )
I agree ☝🏾.
Recently learned word: 신나다
Sample Sentence: 저는 가을에 대학 너무 신나요!
This the reason why I am very Loyal (wow big word😅) to TTMIK, because they really help you to learn new Vocabulary how to use it, etc.. anyway salamat po for the Guidance! ❤❤ I really love to buy your book soon.
Thank you very much!!
TTMIK!!!!!!! ❤❤❤
Most recently, 병실 - 병실은 병원에 있어요 in lesson 30, level 3 🐻🤓📚🤭 Thank you for a helpful video, now I know what to focus on 🙏😃
Great!! Keep going : )
I recently learned words about food and travel.
One I learned recently is ~기 위해 - to express an intention behind an action. Ex: 코딩을 배우기 위해 코딩 부트캠프에 갔어요.
I want to express this sentence. Hopefully it’s correct.
Your sentence is perfect!! 잘하셨어요 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks. Memorizing vocabulary is the most difficult part of learning Korean for me . As I can remember the words so I can not get the content of a reading task or listening exercises
One thing I’ve noticed watching kdramas I can read signs and know what building it is. Eg. 노리방= karaoke room. 우리는 빌어먹을 베스트야 is a sentence that I like. I also find myself using 괜찬하요 a lot since you can use it in many ways, just change tone to make it a question. I also have a story: I went into my friends work (I live in a country where the majority of people speak English) and we spoke in korean to each other and his coworker looked at us weird since I don’t look like I can speak Korean and my friend is Chinese 😅
There are certain words that I just can never seem to remember so I have found connecting them to words with the same syllables helps. For example, I could never remember 장을보다 which is to go grocery shopping. But then I learned that 장 means chapter. Now I remember them both. I don't know why that worked. Also, 희망 (hope), 사망 (death), 열망 (desire). I learned them together because the have syllables in common and they were all in the article I was reading. Now I know all three.
I usually try to send my bff a "korean sentences of the day". I try to summarzie a little activty or an event that happend to me that day and put it in a little phrase. I do use Translaters for stuff i dont know and to check on myself. My best freind then sends me the translated phrase and we check if the things and information i wanted to let her know actually arrived her. Its a nice way of rehearsing some new phrases or vocabulary and to get in contact with my friend and tell her about my day ^^
New phrase that I learnt recently is 할 말이 없다 i heard kim mingyu say it in a show. I use it when someone says something i cannot counter such as when my 동생 reminds me that she is as tall as me despite being half my age
I recently learned the word 같다 (to be the same) because my italki teacher always starts our lesson by asking what I did that day. I usually tell her, "항상 같아요." 😂
In terms of context and practice, I like to use songs. I listen to *a lot* of K-pop and I'll often look up the lyrics to see if there are any words I already know, or if there's a line that I want to learn what it means. Also, I'll hear the same word or phrase in multiple songs and then I have that connection in my head, which makes it stick better.
I learnt 엄청 a few days ago
다쳤어요. 작지만 엄청 아파요
Recently I’ve learned the word 촉구.
Here’s an example of using this word:
나는 친구하고 축구를 해요
Good!! If you use 나, you want to end the sentence in 반말 too!
저는 친구하고 축구를 해요. or 나는 친구하고 축구를 해.
저는 숲에 한국어 연습을 하러 갔어요
My teacher told me to practice Korean while doing something that requires some physical exertion or dexterity, so I go to the nature reserve where I run, and I play "the ground is lava" on logs and boulders while practicing my vocab lists. XD
I try to apply the words I'm learning to my practice. Last week I was learning anatomy, so I tried to apply it while I did my climbing/jumping/running routine. 손 when I had to pull myself up, 팔 when I needed to balance, 발 if I had to walk along a thin branch, 허리 if I had to lean my back against a tree to get around an obstacle...etc. Those words are really cemented in my brain now. I really do seem to be better at retaining information when I have to sweat for it than when I sit for hours copying down lists. XD
I'm learning some nature themed words this week, and I'm applying them to my surroundings at the nature reserve.
That's amazing!! And "ground is lava" is always so much fun!! 바닥에 발 닿으면 안 되는 놀이 ㅎㅎ 언제나 재미있죠!
That's amazing!! And "ground is lava" is always so much fun!! 바닥에 발 닿으면 안 되는 놀이 ㅎㅎ 언제나 재미있죠!
I link the korean words with others words /image(in other languages I know ) so I memorise them immediately.... a simple example (korean/Chinese numbers)일 이 삼 사 오 육 칠 팔 구 십 (il est "frensh" sam sa (is kind of algerian sweet) o like 😲 , yok is "no" in turkish .. 《 like I'm saying'' ow no!! ''about this way of learning hh .. then chil like just chill hhh I known it's weird but it really works.
I recently learned the words 정오 and 자정. I guess I could say something some like
1) 저는 정오 이후에 식사하는 것을 선호해요
2) 자정 전에 집 돌아오세요!
이 정보에 대해 정말 감사합니다.
네팔에서 온 사랑🇳🇵🇳🇵
이 아기의 우유 (This baby’s milk.)
공이 빠릅니다 (The ball is fast.)
저는 사과가 있습니다 (I have an Apple.)
These are a few I’ve just learned, please correct me if I’m doing something wrong. I just started learning Korean two weeks ago. The pronunciation is what’s really difficult for me but you’re videos really help and I ordered your lesson one book.
You should learn hangul to perfect your pronunciation (if you haven't) it will help alot with it!
Thank you!! : ) And your phrases are good!
@@Aeri_007 yes I’ve been focusing on that a lot. One trouble I’ve been having is I have dyslexia so I’ve been accidentally flipping the characters ㄴㄱ, ㅓㅏ,ㅕㅑ. But it won’t be a long term problem I just need more practice. The same thing used to happen all the time as a kid with the letters b and d, which was unfortunate due to my name 😂 I’ll keep practicing so it happens less often. :) 👍🏻
@@Jinxx9081 you can do it! Fighting!
Whenever i discover a word i see my kor friends use, or on a video i search the meaning and remember the sentence they used with the word. But when i try just memorizing the words i wrote on my notebook and use it in a sentence, i forget it..
“One step closer to actual usage”
Creating a situation where you actually _produce_ a sentence containing the word is really helpful-because, after all, in real-life, _that’s_ what you want to do. So, get an image of, say, a messy room, maybe one with a calendar, and describe or talk about what you see, e.g., 책상부터정리해야해요 or 내일 영어 시험이 있어요, trying to use those words. (Obviously, having a bunch of generic images that you can use to evoke a lot of different situations is helpful.)
That’s actually a lot more effective than responding to flashcards or writing down sentences (unless you happen to be meeting Koreans who want you give correct answers to flashcards or demonstrate your 한글 writing skills).
Exactly!!!
아까는 제가 이 단어들을 배웠어요: 떡, 끓다, 국자, 계란찜 등...(unit was about food)
그리고 이 grammar: 제가 밖에 못 가는 것이, 날씨때문이에요(이화 2:1 book)
Can you please tell me about books which helped me to improve my vocabulary and easily make answer to Anyone...kindly suggest that books and also tells about address from where I bought them.
Today I learned the expression 기억 안 나요. Since this happens a lot while learning korean I can now say 선생님, 단어를 기억이 안 나요. Thanks for the useful tips on how to remember vocab better. I‘ll try to memorize them better. 할수있어용 😊
Lol thanks for teaching me this expression. Indeed it is useful I know words but when trying to think about a sentence I don't remember them
단어"가" 기억이 안 나요! : )
Great sentence to use!
Hi, for example, I found a new word 의지하다, and now I would like to learn the usage of this word, to see other examples/sentences with this word. Which dictionary do you recommend for exploring other sentences? Papago offers only one or two examples.
오늘 "여유" 배웠어요.
예: 내가 여유가 있으면 건축학 시험에 더대비할 수 있었어요
One of the words I learned recently was 선물.
다음 달에는 제 생일 파티가 열려요. 여러분은 선물을 가지고 가야 안 해요.
I just learned 예몬
예문! :) Yes!!
제가 “눈에 띄었어요”라는 말을 들었어요 퍼포먼스를 보면서요
As far as sentences I could say “춤을 부드러이 춰서 눈에 띄었습니다“
'눈에 띄었습니다' is a great phrase!!
My most recently learned word was 전화 . My favorite sample sentence was 나중에 전화해 주세요.
Good one!
I can learn some new vocabulary words but putting them in proper sentences is an issue, but I have no one to talk to or practice with.

I just learned 집중하다 (concentrate). 한국어를 더 잘 배우기 위해서, 저는 더 열심히 집중할 필요가 있어요! Should I be using the diary form: 있다 there (since I'm kind of talking to myself) or is 있어요 fine?
Great sentence! You can say the sentence as is, or if you want it to sound more like self-talk, you can say 한국어를 더 잘 배우기 위해서 나는 더 집중할 필요가 있다.

And I say it before giving my baby son a bath ☺️
