  • TYPICAL RUSSIAN APARTMENT: khrushchyovka tour | with minimalist russian girl
Time to invite you to a typical russian apartment!
Many people think that khrushchyovka are outdated and that it’s impossible to live there. No elevator, 4 square meters kitchens, little light, you hear your neighbours watching TV..But my friend Valery is a minimalist and tries to have simple lifestyle and to be thankful for the home she has. Two russian girls discuss why the Soviet Union built the housing in such a way, and show you around.
    More from me:
🔸How people live during Polar night? • The Polar Night in MUR...
🔸Our adventure in Dagestan: • DAGESTAN hitchhiking:...
Thanks Valery for inviting us in and her dogs Leo and Bai for not eating our camera
    And thanks for watching :)

Always interesting to see how people live in other parts of the world. That's a nice apartment. I'd be happy to live there, it's bigger than the place I live now and less than half the cost. Thanks for the tour.

This is a beautiful apartment and quite big. The price is also incredibly low compared to where I live in Montreal Canada. A place like this in such an area would rent for about 1600/1800$ Canadian without any utilities included. This would be a bargain and very sought after. I also must add that your dogs are very beautiful and very well behaved. Thank you for this video.

09:50 not testier, but you can smoothly adjust power of fire. In electrical, as a rule, you can just select power of burner step by step. And sometimes with electrical ones it is even worse: in any intermediate mode selected (except only max and min modes) the electrical burner behaves as alternative switching on (at max) and off (at all) - for several seconds each and so on cyclically - so your food alternatively get burnt and cooled instead of cooking (of liquids are run away for several seconds and then just wait without heating). Gas is the most convenient and accurate way of cooking (media for cooking).

I am an American that lived in a 5 story - 1 Bedroom or 2 room Kruchevik apartment in Moscow in 1991-92. My WC was split. I remember I put up “white” wallpaper and some kind of indoor outdoor carpet and people were in shock over white walls. I did not want to pay to redo the floors. I have that same curio closet in my bedroom that they have.

  • @4el7yxa

I suspect that the cost of housing construction in typical Russia is objectively higher than in typical Europe or the USA, due to the more severe climate. I live in a not-so-northern city in Russia with 1.5 million inhabitants. Over the past year, the range of air temperatures in our city was approximately this: in the summer there were days when it was +37 degrees Celsius, in the winter it reached -35 degrees. The depth of soil freezing in winter reaches 1.5-2 meters. The thickness of the external walls in the apartments in which I lived was approximately 0.5-0.6 meters. All this imposes special requirements on the foundations of buildings. 2 or 3 layers of glazing in windows. Mandatory heating systems that are in operation approximately 6-7 months a year. All this makes construction and maintenance of housing more expensive. Well, the 20th century, in which 99% of the existing housing stock was built, was not cloudless for Russia. All these factors create conditions in which typical Russian housing looks cramped and not very comfortable.

It is incredibly depressing to have to live in such buildings. I understand that some people have to. My dream is that all districts in every city are built in the classic style. If all the districts will be the same pretty- only the location will decide on the price. I think the tap water is good to drink only in norden. In other european countries is the tap water healthy to drink but it really doesn't taste good

Most of the country is practically uninhabitable for large scale cities because of the winter seasons. These apartments were all built out of housing necessity in the late 50s and 60’s because so much infrastructure was destroyed in WW2 and they wanted every citizen to have a home. Not the most luxurious but it beats being homeless or living in a log shack.

Daily Mirror
