Trust me, the most informative thing from this video is that a typical Russian guy working on some ordinary job can support a family of 4 all by himself and own two properties in modern apartment buildings with total size of almost 2000 sq.ft.

    • @dtschuor459
      @dtschuor459 Год назад +23

First of all, it’s 1500 square feet.
25% difference between your estimate and what he actually said.
Secondly, how do you know that his wife doesn’t also bring in some income?
Thirdly, if the US supported parents with quality affordable childcare, many of us could afford a decent standard of living with less financial distress.
On my income as a teacher (after 12 years) I could support myself and two children and a modest home of comparable size. Although, I could not afford that AND childcare. My job included very good health insurance, and paid leave when necessary. That was a good union job. Not every American of modest means could afford this…
Also, I lived in a medium sized Midwestern town and was gifted a modest but dependable automobile. Those conditions are not the case for all working families.
Life there is no more glorious or easy than it is here.

    • @PaulV.

      @@dtschuor459 Russia:
Health insurance - free for everyone (paid by the government)
Childcare - free for everyone (same)
Paid leave - 28 days for any worker set by law (some have more).
P.S. He has told that his wife is not working for 4 years already and taking care of their children. AND he lives in a capital city.

    • @dtschuor459
      @dtschuor459 Год назад +3

@@PaulV. Right. I hadn’t watched to the end before I replied. Wife is on “maternity leave” for 4 years. From that I deduce, she worked before and plans to return to work after.
Your notes were exactly my point. More American families with”ordinary jobs” could afford to live at this level with some of the benefits that this Russian family receives.
He also discusses some of the financial maneuvering that allowed him to purchase the second property and kept it within his means. We should also acknowledge, the 1500 square foot apartment is currently not habitable. It has no appliances and apparently no working fixtures such as a bathroom.
I wasn’t clear on what utilities have been Insta , but it was purchased without water, gas, or electric installed.
Essentially, the same as buying a framed structure with no utilities…simply a shell.
They are slowly creating a functioning apartment from that. This is not dissimilar to many young families in the US, except that health care is not so easily attained in the US, most workers do not receive 28 days/year of leave, and very few employers provide any appreciable sort of maternity or family leave, despite Federal protections attempting to make that available.
Post secondary education would not be privately financed either, so the enormous strain of obtaining and financing advanced education is also a significant advantage over life in this “Land of the Free.” 🤔

I bought my first real estate piece in Bangkok, a small condominium studio, partitioned into bedroom and livingroom for 630K Baht (~23K USD in 1995). I understand living in small spaces. I had a balcony that housed an aircon, stove, and washing machine. It was small, but very comfortable. I like how you partitioned your apartment into many usable rooms despite its size. Well done!!! That is something which everybody notices when they visit both my city flat and my holiday home: we hardly have any IKEA furniture. Much of the furniture has been either inherited or hand made by us, since it is difficult to fit furniture into a medieval house with vaulted ceilings! Making the forniture was a lot of fun! As for our city flat we've mainly either made it ourselves or bought it from local producers because it was cheaper . So it is quite different and personal and we enjoy it.

Hi Zangieff! Thank you for your sight seeing tour. You are so nice, a lovely daddy sharing very private areas of your life with us. Your appartment is really small for you and your family and your cat, and I could imagine it's very warm during summer... And your children need their own rooms for sleeping, playing etc. But it's cozy and very orderly and in some points more modern than my home. Me and my family are living in a town in Rhine-Main Area, ca. 20 km south of Frankfurt. I, end of 40s now, spent my whole life here, my husband moved here. In the last years prices for houses, flats had been exploding, especially in the metropolitan areas. And it is very difficult to find a flat, at countryside it's easier and flats are cheaper. But at countryside sometimes the complete infrastructure is not good, so people prefer to live and work in the metropolitan areas. What is a typical german home? I don't know. I think it's depending on people who are living there, are they young or old, modern or a bit old-fashioned, some like tchotchkes, modern technical IT equipment 😱 Our home is a mixture of old-fashioned and modern touches, we don't replace furniture, other interior, electrical equipment (e.g. fridge, washing machine) because they are "old-fashioned", we are unpretentious in this points. 💞 from Frankfurt 🇩🇪

As an American I bought a 130 m² new build in St. Petersburg in 2002 two blocks away from the gulf of Finland nice area.It looked exactly like the one you are working on and we as you had to do everything from new windows new doors plumbing etc. etc. it was only a shell and most interior walls were torn down and reconstructed properly, self leveling cement for the entire apt floors.A lot of work but it came out beautiful.. I believe we paid 40,000 US for the apartment, we also bought it when the building was just beginning construction so the price was less. we were able to pay cash so no mortgage, I remember they were very high at the time. unfortunately due to health reasons I had to move back to the US in 2008 but we were able to sell the apartment very quickly and for an amazing profit 😃brings back good memories, except for OVIR and form 9 🤣😂🤣

Great insight into everyday life. I'm always amazed at the similarities and differences when I visit the living quarters of someone from another country. I remember my first time experiencing a Baltic house as a kid, I was so confused why they insisted on everyone wearing slippers in the house? Also no junk food? Lol I love it. Thank you for sharing your home with us 💜

38 sqm is definitely not enough for two adults and two kids. I lived with my mom and brother in a 42 sqm 1 bedroom flat after she divorced my dad and it definitely contributed to the deterioration of our interpersonal relationships (I was nearly 17 and my brother was 19 when we moved there). Overcrowding is very unhealthy.

That s a lot diferent actually. You were 3 adults, and 2 of them were at puberty and one single parent, each one of you in need of privacy.
When there is a family of 2 with 2 small childs you tend to be more understanding with each other and resolve the differences a lot easier, since the parents are usually way past that critical age.

Remodeling their homes, shopping at grocery stores and just trying to live their lives. I hope you and your family were able to get out of Russia safely in time. I also hope you and all people can go back to their homes sooner rather than later. And I hope your homes you worked hard to remodel are there in one peace when you get back. Stay safe. God Bless!

The best parts of your tour are those that show how little separates us all - specifically that our children take up a disproportianate amount of space in our homes....and how easily we accept that reality. All the best from the USA.

Thank you for your apartment tour. This tour was 100% nicer than the Soviet apartment you showed before. But I must tell you that in the US, with 2 children most Americans would have a three bedroom apartment. I recently watched a video about average wages in the 30 largest cities in Russia. People's earnings per month were equal to what people in America make per week! However, the rent for a three bedroom apartment in the Boston area would be over $3 thousand a month! So, though you make a fourth of what Americans make, your rentals are also much lower.
I wish you could come to the US to see for yourself the difference.

I saw you with Niki and Konstantin shopping a few weeks ago or so, and came and subbed your page. By the way, (haha) were you really laughing that hard that you cried. Loved seeing you three together! Thanks again, enjoyed the tour. That thousand dollars seemed high but with subsidy for child makes it more reasonable. Nice

Thanks! Reminder, that this is the most expensive city in Russia, in the regions such flats would cost a lot less (but comparable if we take into account levels of salaries). However, in Russia if you make kids, you can get well paid by the state, 2 kids in 2022 will let you decrease your debt by >15K$. N.B. Some apartments in Russia cost like this in full. I'll cover this in the next video.

    • @spacemanonearth

@@Zangieff Yes, did not consider the cost of being in Moscow, nor the income vs. expense aspect. Guess it is all relative. After reading here I forgot, please be careful, do not get conscripted via this mobilization or whatever, would not wish that on anyone, and you have two little ones to care for. Plus, this whole thing sucks, will be careful here but you know what I mean. When I think about it, I had a home in San Francisco I sold long ago, now it is over $4 million US Dollars, crazy! All the best!

Now for the rest of the week, livingroom, dining room, family room and Kitchen. Should take me the rest of the week. So a smaller condo sounds great
