All of the footage in this video was taken on one day in early July, which was one of the last days when I was harvesting and inoculating new substrate.

I just got 1lb. Awesome product. Very clean. My wife felt overwhelmed today when she came home. I made her tea with turkey tail, chaga, and honey. About an hour later she asked, “What did you put in that tea? Cause whatever it is worked and makes me feel calm now.” I told her what it was and now she’s all about it. Before she would give me the stank face trying to get her to start taking it. I’ve been using turkey fair for health disease prevention. Love it. Will certainly order again. When you pull of the fruiting body can the remaining substrate produce again or is that whole thing done?
I’ve heard of u top fruit , it’s usually a 1 and done type thing . But I could be wrong
What kind of yield are you getting off of each block? How heavy is each sawdust block?
Is there a way to do this on a small scale from scratch?
Have you found any variance in pellet quality, or is there a particular brand or wood that you prefer?
Wow now that's what's up. To get that type of a flush is well worth growing it at home
I have some questions. After you harvest is the remaining substrate only good to go to trash? Or will it be usable elsewhere? Also, how long will it last after sliced, dried and bagged? Is freezing dried harvested supply also an option for storing longer term?

Your technique for growing is different than most growers I’ve seen. You grow out of the top of your bags with what appears to be a significant yield. Do you get more than one flush with this method? You are growing outdoors as well. What part of the country are you in?
This method looks way better than nine tiny bodies out the side of giant bag which I saw other places.

No additional pasteurization, beyond that done in the pelleting process. Which varies depending on the company.
Besides high temps, there are other important factors that you get from pellet sawdust vs. pasteurized fresh sawdust, including high pressure extrusion effects to lignin and hemicellulose; and full desiccation of plant cells by the high-temp dryer.

Have you ever considered getting your own pellet machine or would that be overkill?
Have you ever tried liquid culture directly onto final substrate? I see mossback mushroom, Andrew Reed had some success by blending straw and soy hull pellets and was able to skip grain spawn step.
Wow, it's perfect, we get the product from our turkey tail mushrooms by cutting the sides of the bag, we tried opening it from the top, but we couldn't get such a performance. I will definitely try your method. What exactly are you putting in the substrate? We use oak or beech sawdust as the base material. I tried 15% and 50% soy hull, but I could not get good results, and we could not get such a result with wheat bran. I would be very grateful if you share your secret

Since no one's answered this, I'd suspect it isn't too hot. Most mushrooms do not do well with temps above 85. Ideally 75 unless ur dealing with cold weather strains such as psilocybe azurecens, maitake, etc. Then ur ideal range is between 40-65. Most mushrooms do not like growing in direct sunlight as well, usually those that do grow out of lawns, king stropharia is a notable one that likes direct sunlight. Since it's in direct sunlight I'd suspect it's pretty cool out. Reishi is a notable species that likes hot weather. Usually turkey tails grow naturally in spring and fall when it's not too hot or cold, they can be found year round because their toughness resist rot.
Turkey tail is very fun to grow. It's fast, it is relatively contam resistant. I have noticed the warmer u keep it the less contam resistant it is. If u keep it in the 80s or 90s mold is very likely but if u keep it cooler it seems pretty resistant.
Do u not sterilize the blocks??

Did you leave a ring of plastic around the top of the fruiting block?
He seems to have cut the yellowing area near the top clear out of the bag, leaving some below to hold the substrate together during transportation.

I think it is supplemented in the bag. He just buys it that way.
