- There is a 1st @ Chateau Lagorce ! We are beyond proud of little Charles !
Bordeaux opens up and with Michael @DoingItOurselvesOfficial we head out to the Quincaillerie shop that specialises in high quality brass , ceramic door handles and we see if we can find 2 crystal balls for the top of the stairs for our passion project in order to add the finishing touches to that renovated part !
Michaels spots an amazing door mechanism and we are all left speechless !
Full video of our renovation project will follow this Sunday from Stephanie @TheChateauDiaries
We have a little stroll around Bordeaux and meet Marie @mariewiik & Nati :)

Good job Charles with your first time driving. Seeing Nati and Matie was a surprise. The town, Saint-Denis, is a suburb of Paris, France! That's why it's so beautiful.
This was my favorite video yet! The Chrystal ball shop was amazing, and the churches and other buildings were gorgeous! Oh, and I loved the father son driving lesson. Great job Anna and Ed.

Ours have been open, just rescinded masks...so I went to the canyon for the tram ride...only thing...you have to wear a mask on the tram!!!lol

The day we can see eachothers smiles again, than we are truly free. Mask are are a token of supression, nothing more, nothing less.
What a lovely vlog...from the hilarious intro (Edd is quite the comedian!) to seeing people and the sights in Bordeaux...it really was a delightful breath of fresh air. And I must admit that hanging out with you and Edd and all your company more recently in all of the vlogs (including Stephanie's, Michael's and Marie's) has made me realize what a sweetie you are, Anna! When Marie Antoinette and her family where forced out of Versailles all of the furnishings were auctioned off. So it would not surprise me that Basmaignee and many other Chateaux have prices of Versailles in them.

Oh my! I love that word, 'quincaillerie' much better than hardware shop. I distinctly remember my first year learning french in Huddersfield (48 years ago) drawing a 'quincaillerie' in my vocab book along with the boulangerie etc. etc. ha ha! Vive la France. Loving your vlog. Angela Johnson

Thank you for filming in Bdx, I've never been there. The buildings in the centre are huge. Their scale remind me somewhat of Florence. Obviously both towns were aiming to show their wealth and grandeur.
Loved looking at all the beautiful accessories in the shop . But the highlight of the video for me was Charles’s driving skills, on the straight and turning around. Congratulations on a super drive, Charles.

A super video. The crystal balls so beautiful and everything in the shop sold with such pride. Something missing here in Aus and certainly no shops like it. I too like another fan had tears of joy tinged with sadness. We lived 1 hours drive away and frequently visited Bordeaux. You certainly showed the beauty of it. Thank you. Lovely memories for me with my late husband.

I love this video Anna! This made me very nostalgic. My husband is from the outskirts of Paris and for our honeymoon (43 years ago!!!) we went to France and Spain to visit family and friends. We stayed in Bordeaux overnight as we travelled south from Paris to Marseillan where my husband`s grandmother lived. We walked so much through this beautiful city! My husband bought me gorgeous, huge lily of the valley bouquet from a street vendor! (one of my fave flowers) We bought paté, cheese, baguette and of course delicious wine to have in our hotel room! It was amazing! It makes me want to go visit all over again. I was very young when I married (20!!) and I feel that I would appreciate France so much more now at my (mature!!) age! Wishing the very best life has to offer you both. Love your chateaux (mini and big one!) Hugs from Lorraine (outskirts of Montreal).
The hardware shop was awesome, Love all the detail on the Knobs and so much more artistic and fun then the mass produced junk they put in houses today. thanks for showing us.

The cathedral looks lovely! It was covered in scaffolding when I was there! The shopkeeper was so nice to explain things to you (and us all). That is one of the things I love about France. The pride and willingness to share from the specialty shopkeepers. Congrats to Charles on his first drive! We all remember that special moment in our lives -- I am sure he will always remember, as well!

How wonderful to live where you do I love seeing the wonderful buildings my husband and I have travelled on ships and seen 45 countries I am loving seeing you all on RUclips I live in Melbourne Australia we can't travel even to see grandchildren in two different states so frustrating but you all "doing it ourselves " Chateau Diaries" and several others make it easier I wish I had found you all in 2020 but I am catching up with it all thank you all

when he was 7 years old and it’s wonderful to live here as I have done all my life but we do not have any Chateaus and I adore old things, antiques and history so thank you for such a wonderful look at your lifestyle. I have been to Paris on holiday but we did not do any of the countryside of France unfortunately but please keep up with your video channel as I am addicted. 👍🙂

Congratulations to Charles on his first driving experience. I’m sure it will feel like no time at all has passed before Emma will be doing the same thing, and perhaps Charles will be driving his own car by then! (If he saves his money, he’ll be able to drive himself to that shop to buy that suit of armour that he wants).
Michaels return is a reason to celebrate and I hope you get the opportunity to visit the Château de la Basmaignée sometime soon.
If it wasn’t for Michael, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy your channel, along with Sadie and Shaun’s and all the other lovely people he calls his friends. Hopefully, you’ll be able to have the Pethericks over for a pool party this summer.

Its such a pleasure to hear you speaking french...my mom and oldest sibling were from Grenoble France and they spoke French all the time but they didn't make an effort to teach me. I so regret it. I was the only one born in the USA so I didn't learn. Brings fond memories though...

I just love the old door handles.. So many beautiful things in that store.. ( The glass door though at the store.. It needs work. Sounds like it is going to fall off.. lol.. Makes an awful noise when you open it..) That huge church is just stunning.. Wow.. Big churches and Abbey's are my favourite things to see. So many nice old buildings there in Bordeaux.. A lovely tour of the city.... Cheers to the first drink at a pub this season.. Some good driving there Charles.. Fun times with dad..

Nice to see folks out and about again
This was such a delightful episode! I would have been like a kid in a candy store amongst all that hardware! Anna, I love how you are such a gracious host and you treat Michael (and Ryan when he was there) as if they are your brothers. Charles seemed to have such good fun driving with his dad, and I imagine him ripping all over the property in just a few years!
I live in Canada where we are still in various stages of lockdown. This was so enjoyable to watch the “Chateau Gang” enjoying each other’s company and just being out and about with REAL PEOPLE. I think what we need to realize is what we have been taking for granted up until last year. A wake up call necessary to appreciate the company of good friends and the conviviality of just getting together. So many of us have become addicted to the Chateau Gang’s” vlogs especially watching how you have all bonded and make the effort to support your various chateaux, and to just generally become g4at good friends. You are all so generous and KIND! So kudos to you all. We all so enjoy the next instalments of your various vlogs when we can rarely leave our houses. To get to visit you while you are energetically renovating and repairing some of the most daunting jobs is completely addictive. Thanks to all of you !

I so enjoyed this!!! I watched the wine tasting video in the caves - and my ears alerted to the Pillitteri Estate Winery!! Niagara-on-the-Lake is a favourite place of ours to visit several times a year! We live close by! Next time we drop by Pillitteri, I’ll say hello!! :-)
