If ignoring such an unknown number is not an option because some think that the unknown sender might be genuine, it is then advisable to either call such a number directly and talk or verify the identity on truecaller etc. If the identity cannot be confirmed then carefully deleting such files received on WhatsApp and blocking the number number is a safe option.
