The first reason I got into "punk" rock in the '70's was because the bands had energy and didn't wank out a 20 minute guitar solo. Then came the politics, the fun and the incredible bands that played from the heart. Thank god for"punk rock"!!! This shit saved my life.

I remember listening to the DK's back in the 80's before seeing this video. Hell it was like $35 back in 1988! I was stunned, they looked like normal nerds like myself at the time. Huge influence!

My lord this track is so full of energy. Jello is just all over the place. The shimmering guitar with just enough distortion is amazing, with the bounciness of the bass and the tick tock of Peligro's drums just make it boogie. Could this be an influence on Rev. Heat? It certainly sounds like it. I'm trying to dissect this track to learn bass and guitar parts. This is a good one as far as style as well as being a nice recording.

Uh, he may not have played any instruments but from what I understand, he came up with the vast majority of hooks and song ideas. He would sing these parts to the musicians and they would go from there. The instrumentalists executed the ideas that Jello had created.

When you hear them and you get all exciote you don't really listen to the lyrics, but they are awesome. They have a lot of criticism of society or kinds of persons, quite deep. CHeck for example Life Sentence.

There was a huge dispute between the former bandmates and Jello in the late 80s. Jello said it was because the other three were upset that he wouldn't let them use "Holiday in Cambodia" for a jeans commercial and the other three say that it's because Jello (who is the owner of the former DK label Alternative Tentacles) didn't pay them some royalty checks. It was in court forever, the "other 3" won but Jello still denies he did anything wrong.

I'm 16 years old and I'm spanish.
People always said but they're in a big mistake because Punk's are in the street.
We're Punk's with or without had born in the 80s.
I'd recommend you listen to spanish punkers like Eskorbuto, La polla records, piperrak, cicatriz, kommando 9mm, kortatu, etc. and think about other punkers.

I've seen them live in the UK a number of times although not being fronted by Biafra. Klaus, East Bay and DH are absolutely amazing live. First time I saw them it took me a week to come down from the buzz. AFAIK Klaus is not going to be touring with them any longer due to illness :(

Ha ha ha. East Bay Ray's guitar playing may not be California uber-Halen here, but its bouncy, menacing and inventive, he treats it like boxing, stick and move. In fact, everyone is locked on D.H. Peligro's bombastic drum attack, and they just explode. Stupid lyrics? He's singing from the view of a corrupt cop and its definite black humour. This rocks. And if you think they still can't play, try doing "Holiday in Cambodia" at about 220 bpm. I have on guitar, and its not that easy.
