One half of the duo Eyedea & Abilities, MC Eyedea lies down (literally) on the grass with UGHH's Van Stylez (no, yes, maybe homo) for a conversation, which immediately veers away from music and into the metaphysical. The time-space continuum, existence, the afterlife, the soul and energy are all pondered in this offbeat discussion. Eyedea, who first made a name for himself battle rapping in the late 90s and has been widely revered for his strength as an emcee alongside producer Abilities, talks about taking a temporary hiatus from the rap industry to play guitar in coffee shops across the country and sing with his rock band Carbon Carousel. Eyedea's disinterest in aligning himself with any specific genre has led him to label the wide range of music embodied on his new album "post-mathcore-grunge-rock." Eyedea has been a philosophical idol and musical idol for me, I was interested in his thoughts on reincarnation, and personally, I believe in it, but I don't consider it a way to hold on to my identity, once you pass on you'll never live the life you did again, you wear this identity for a millisecond in the grand scale of time and then pass on, you're always just changing faces. The many faces of Oliver Hart.
Eyedea is the only artists who gets questions this awsome, id love to see a mainstream artists response to one of theese questions hahaha

I'm getting emotional just watching the fucking video. It's weird how you feel like you know someone, just through their music and random interviews that they did. I wish I could've met him. I know everybody says that but I mean it. I don't believe in an afterlife either, but fuck it I'd try to be Christian or something just to get to the other side and find where Eyedea ended up, so I could talk to him for a little while.

I respect the hell out of Eyedea but most of the knowledge he's droppin in this vid is straight out of Krishnamurti's writings, not original ideas. But still mad respect that he even knew about it. Eyedea woke me up to a lot a decade ago and his music is still a medication at times. One thing he was was a true artist and talent and his music lives on.
Just saw Eyedea & Abilities last night at the Echoplex. They haven't skipped a beat. They don't get the love they deserve...

The picture of this post makes it look like Eyedea was all high and laying on the ground for the interview but realistically he was just lookin up and relaxing while doing Q's and A's..still, I do love his theories about life they seem to not only have depth but are true as well

Funny enough about him not believing in an afterlife and the quote about the universe, "We're reading the menu and not eating the food."
I believe that after this life on earth, "we eat the food." The universe is infinite which is why physically we're limited, but on another level we exist in an infinite universe and so that makes us infinitely existing. There's a reason for everything somehow and the unknown. We can imagine what could happen tomorrow, but will never truly know until we're there. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
I look at the evidence: no pre-life, this life, no after-life.
It's not what you see, but what you believe, life isn't just logic there's a reason for the unknown and not knowing what your next step may be. (lol whata contradiction, logic is the definition of reason, ha. Then again doesn't life just contradict itself all the time.) Think about it.
Only on an Eyedea video, will we discuss the philosophy of life as a whole and everything before and after it... on RUclips.

Yeah, we're here to find our faith in a way, but principles in life are important, especially in this human experience that we're going through. Read up on Socrates, he had a lot of questions which led to his wisdom, not the answers. Of course there's a lot to his philosophies such as metaphysics, cosmology, etc. but yeah, life is definitely a journey.
I like spirituality, but there's a differnce between spirituality and metaphysical woo woo. As a matter of fact, the brain is a computer, and computers don't join infinity when they're broken. They cease to be, like the parrot on the Monty Python sketch :)

I've only recently discovered Krishnamurti. I was, for a long period of time, under the impression that on 'Soundtrack of A Romance' Eyedea said Christian Amerdy, due to several faulty lyrics pages :(
